Our honeymoon getaway
I don't know where to begin to describe our honeymoon in Bora Bora at the Black Pearl, because it was so unbelievably wonderful.
We arrived in Bora Bora on April 9th. Upon your arrival to the island, wherever you are staying, you take a ferry shuttle to your destination as the airport is on an island itself. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted by Tiare, who with her husband, helps visitors navigate their stay and the island.
Our overwater bungalow, a condo twice the size of our one-bedroom apartment here in the states, was just outside the main village of Vaitape in an area called Faanui. As we drove to our condo, the warm sunshine was beating down on us welcoming us as weary travelers, while at the same time, a gentle breeze kept us cool. We passed lush vegetation, friendly locals, exotic flowers with vivid color, trees with extraordinary canopies and the water... we’ll never forget the water.
The island is protected by a barrier reef and a crystalline lagoon. In between the main island where we stayed is the lagoon and it is surrounded by a multitude of small islets. The water is comprised of a myriad of beautiful calm blue color... what you see and read in the travel magazines must be true - Bora Bora’s lagoon is the most beautiful in the world.
Every morning, we woke up in our over water home, to the calming sound of the water. Each morning, we thought, what shall we do with ourselves?? We could jump right into the crystal blue water off our dock, we could kayak across the lagoon, we could float on our backs and enjoy the massive blue sky and fluffy clouds, we could swim or snorkle underwater with the colorful fish, we could rent a boat or jetski and explore the island, we could take a drive into town and buy fresh fruit and food to cook for the days to come, we could hike and explore the land or one of my favorites... we could fall asleep on our patio or nap on our couch as the warm light breeze flowed through our living room.
The shower and newly remodeled bathroom was amazing. What a treat it was to take a shower after a full day of exploring the island and then curling up with a good book or bbq-ing for dinner! When we visit Bora Bora again, we will be sure to contact the owner of this condo again. It was the best vacation we’ve ever had as a couple - what a way to start our marriage!
Owner's Response: Wow Becky! You really captured the essence of the island and Bora Bora life. I am so happy
you both loved your stay and I hope to see you back very soon.
Many, many thanks and warm regards,
Richard
