Historic Downtown for Strolling:
A first run movie house in downtown is a short walk from the Cottage. Try a local restaurant with wonderful wine list - Passionfish, 2 great bakeries, Pavel's on Forest or Fourniers on Lighthouse for a breakfast treat or afternoon cookies, ice cream parlor, chocolate shop and cute shops line Lighthouse. For bargain hunters you may be in town during an auction day - visit the local auction house, Hambrooks. The local market with the best meat is the Grove Market on Forest, ask for the local favorite's ice cream from Marianne's. Monday afternoon is Farmer's Market Day. A long time local favorite is Pepper's on Forest, but then walk across the street to Tessuti Zoo for whimsical gifts and furnishings. Many guest wish they had booked a longer stay to try all the wonderful restaurants on the Monterey Peninsula. Pacific Grove or PG to the locals is a family friendly with little parks tucked around downtown in addition to one of the best beaches, Lover's Point.
A place to Play! :
The Monterey Peninsula is small. only about 7 miles across, so getting to Carmel by the Sea is a 10 minute drive, play golf at the Pacific Grove Municpal Golf, one of many to play. Hike the beaches at Point Lobos State Park just south of Carmel. Bring you bicycles and ride the Famous 17 Mile Drive (Bikes are free entry), but do be careful ,the scenery is spectacular. Pack a picnic in one of the coolers at the Cottage for a day at the beach. Love Motor Sports - Laguna Seca! Love Classic Cars - Pebble Beach, play to stay the whole week, enjoy the free car shows in Carmel, Pacific Grove and Monterey. The Monterey Aquarium is a treat. Cannery Row, especially on Race Week at Laguna Seca - walk down the Recreation Trail and feast your eyes on motorcyles.
