Yesterday morning we said our fond farewells to your lovely home at 13 Signal Point in the Galena Territory. Thanks you for your gift of an extra day. My family from the Cedar Rapids area arrived on Thursday at noon and stayed until Saturday evening. We had decided to save our own celebration until Sunday morning after all of the company was gone. We had thought we would have to rush through our own gift opening and Christmas dinner so that we would have adequate time take down our tree and pack up all of our belongings on Sunday afternoon in preparation for departure on Monday morning. Instead we were able to relax all day on Sunday,
have a leisurely breakfast before opening our gifts, lounge in the hot tub three times (it worked perfectly after the service man reset it), sit in front of the fireplace, listen to our new CDs, etc. because we knew that we still had all day Monday to pack up. Even while packing on Monday, we managed to squeeze in two more sessions in the hot tub! We put seed in the bird feeder and loved watching the antics of the birds and squirrels during our daytime sessions in the tub. My husband assembled the last of FIVE picture puzzles on the table in the family room!
When we arrived on Dec. 21, we stopped at the Owner's Club to get the parking passes for us and and our guests. The gal who was working at the counter told us what wonderful people you are and said how much she loved both of you. After visiting with you on the phone and receiving your offer of an extra day in the house at no additional charge, we would agree that you are exceptionally friendly and generous people.
This is the 16th year that we have spent Christmas week in a vacation rental home, and I can honestly say that your home is the most generously equipped of all the homes we have rented. We so much appreciated the hand soap and tissues in each bathroom, the dish soap, dishwasher soap, and laundry soap, and an adequate supply of towels. We cooked every meal in your home for eight days, and it was wonderful to have every type of pan and utensil stacked in the cupboards. We also appreciated having table service for twelve, with even enough goblets for everyone to enjoy the eggnog! The gas grill was another plus - we used it four times, and it worked great. Finally, the maintenance crew kept the driveway free of ice and snow. Your house was ideal for our purposes, and we would love to return for another Christmas in the near future.
