This cabin is available all year! My beautiful log cabin in the country has all the amenities of home. It's the perfect place to get away and enjoy nature while staying in elegant and spacious accommodations. This is a special place when you need to kick back and relax! Antiques are set against old woodwork from a previous cabin on the site. The large gas log fireplace is a central feature of the great room. Curl up and enjoy an evening of reading, selecting from the nice collection of books. Or play any of the many board games provided. Grill on charcoal or gas. Enjoy your barbecue on the large back porch, or watch a beautiful sunset from the swing on the front porch.

Log cabin in the country: My cabin was built for use as a vacation rental and has only been used that way. I have enjoyed the vacation rental business and the people who come to relax in the country. Many enjoyable times have been spent visiting with guests at the cabin. The caboose has been added to accommodate larger groups as well as to provide for individual rentals. There may be guests in the caboose during your visit. This usually does not present a problem as the caboose is on the property but separated from the cabin area by plantings Some guests rent both accomodations for larger groups.

About Tom Bradshaw

I have lived near here in a 200 year old house since 1976. I bought the land for the cabin in 1982 and finally built the cabin in the spring of 1991. It has always been a vacation rental. My wife Faye and I have enjoyed meeting many of our guests over the 20 years and continue to do so. We have another vacation house in Lexington and have recently completed restoring the 1926 caboose.

We had spent enjoyable trips to Williamsburg and stayed in a vacation rental house in the restored area and thought that the idea of a vacation rental house in the country might be something that others would enjoy. It was not until the internet got into general usage is 1998 that the idea really became viable.

My log cabin is located on three acres in the country near Natural Bridge and Lexington in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. It is 35 miles north of Roanoke and 12 miles south of Lexington and 2 miles from Natural Bridge. It is easily accessible from I 81 and US 11. It is close to Virginia Safari Park and Natural Bridge attractions.

A Good Stay

I've rented dozens of cabins throughout the region. This one was a solid three star. Cozy inside. Well kept outside. Gas fireplace rather than wood burning, which loses a little charm but is easier. There is pasture and forest on two sides. Unfortunately, the front of the cabin faces I-81 and you can hear the traffic. That was a let-down. My only complaints are 1) the dishes were all dusty and 2) the price was high for what we got. When paying this rate, I generally expect a historic cabin in great shape or one with an amazing view. This one is nice, but newer, and it faces the highway.
Owner's Response: We appreciate and value valid comments from our guests. Unfortunately these comments are without merit and must be addressed. These guests overstayed their visit by at least three hours after the agreed check out time without asking. They left all the dishes dirty and not even rinsed. They didn't even bother to take out their garbage. We found the upstairs window munts on the roof. Windows left open-guess this explains the noise complaint. The interstate is a quarter mile away and at times can be heard during the winter when leaves are off the trees but is not intrusive. Many guests have commented on how convenient the cabin is to the interchange. The gas logs were installed because we found a chair burned from fireplace sparks as well as a rug burned. We were lucky-people today do not know how to manage wood fires. As to the matter of the historic cabin-in my description is say that I built this cabin as a vacation rental and I have furnished it with antiques and collectables. There are family heirloom dishes stored in a cabinet above the refrigerator not easily accessible which were gotten out and I suppose were dusty. The regularly used dishes intended for guest usage are used weekly and not "dusty". Lastly, I have not increased my prices in several years and know for the quality level of this rental, my rates are fair.

Spoiled us for cabin stays forever.

Beautiful cabin in Shenandoah Valley. Everything thought out for a great stay. A bit of a challenge for mobility impaired to reach second floor, but well worth the effort. Travel through Goshen Pass and down Crabtree Falls Highway eastward for great scenery. I have lived in Virginia most of my life and continue to marvel at its hospitality and beauty. Thanks, Tom, for patience and understanding. Come visit us in Williamsburg.

Peaceful Respite from Hectic Life in a Great Location for Sightseeing

What a wonderful place to spend a relaxing weekend close to Lexington VA and Natural Bridge. We were in the area for The Citadel/VMI football game. We had two couples and a 19 month old. It was just perfect for all of us to share the cabin. The cabin had everything we needed for a comfortable place to stay. It was nice waking up in the mornings to a variety of birds and horses out back. The owners have thought of everything down to bird seed to feed the birds. A hammock, grill and fire pit to make a fire out back were all nice to have. The cabin is just a short drive from downtown Lexington and very close to Natural Bridge off I-81. While there were a few bugs around, which can't be helped, it was clean and a perfect place for the weekend.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: My cabin is inthe country and near Lexington and Safari Park. It was built as a vacation rental and has never been used otherwise. In the fall there are lady bugs in our area and everyone has them! They are harmless and are gone in a few months. Winter can be a great time to visit this beautiful area.Plan a winter get-away!

everything was great, we didn't want for anything,it even came with a very friendly dog, the home was beautiful and the landscaping was gorgeous. we had our morning coffee on the back porch while we watched the birds and squirrels. my mother went through the death of 2 sisters and my father in 4 months, needless to say she needed to get away, she said it was the most peaceful place she had ever been too. she also referred it to all my brothers and their famililes.

Great weekend!!

My husband and I were looking to get away for a long weekend with our infant and dog, and came across the cabin on the internet. We really enjoyed our stay here. We found the cabin to be very cozy and relaxing, and the location is great for sight-seeing in nearby Natural Bridge and Lexington.
