My apartment is in the heart of Oberstdorf, very central yet very quiet with southern views of the mountains (up to 2500m altitude). Oberstdorf is a health resort in the Allgäu mountains at 850m height. You can reach all daily needs in just a few minutes walking distance of supermarkets, boutiques, specialty shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, etc.
Next door, a 5-minute walk away is the Nebelhorn, the summer and winter offers a spektkulär high alpine panorama for skiing, hiking and climbing. Also the ski jump, the figure skating stadium and the swimming and spa 'Oberstdorf-Therme' with a traditional metallurgical sauna can be reached comfortably and quickly on foot.
Many attractive hiking trails and mountain tours can start right from the front door or trips Oberstdorf in the valleys, on the Alpine chalets and lodges, as well as to the mountain lakes (Moorweiher, Christian Lesee).
The bog pool is like a jewel amidst forests and meadows just 20 minutes' walk away. The Freibergsee, near the Heini-Klopfer ski jump is one of the highest and most beautiful lakes.
Just 3 km away is one of the most picturesque golf courses in Germany, amidst beautiful mountain landscape (Golf Club Oberstdorf), 2 more places there are 12 kilometers away (Sonnenalp Golf Club and Upper Allgäu). Also located near several tennis facilities, indoor and outdoor, squash, and a fitness center.
More skiing facilities (Fellhornbahn, Soellereck) is easily accessible and free buses from the train station (on foot in 7 min.). Likewise, the area is a paradise for mountain biking, z. B. in the valleys and the mountain Alps, where they can come and buy homemade cheese.
Moreover Oberstdorf offers plenty of other attractions for your leisure and recreation:
Rafting, cross-country skiing / skating, inline skating, guided hikes, multi-day mountain tours, ski and snowboard lessons, freestyle areas for snowboarding and skiing with competition-compatible halfpipe, climbing slopes in different difficulty levels, Gleitschrimfliegen, snowshoeing, ski touring, telemark, ski bob, sledding , ice skating, curling, curling, ice hockey, soccer, cycling, electric bicycles, etc.
Throughout the year, instead of competitions and events in sports and culture. For example, the Four Hills Tournament competition in Nordic combined, snowboard and freestyle championships, ice skating, curling and international golf tournaments, etc.
A cultural highlight in music is the annual summer place Colonel Musiksommer, and traditional performances such as the Wild Männle dance performances by the yodel group or Trachtenvereins, the radio Sunday, the cattle drive and the Klausentreiben.
But nightlife is impressive: numerous bars invite Allgäu on a good beer, whether it's Apres-Ski, social gathering or for dancing, for all ages is something for everyone and everything just walking distance away.

The Allgäu High Alps are species-rich mountain range in Germany and are reported on 20 724 hectares as a nature reserve since 1992. In 2002 it was announced as a Natura 2000 site. Natura 2000 is a European biotope network, which has set itself the goal to ensure biodiversity. And core nodes of this network are protected areas, in particular the nature reserves.
