In this charming southwestern home summer and fall are a delight. Enjoy cool sunny days and star filled nights. The great room has huge windows ideal for watching the elk graze or the golfers testing their skills on the 5th green. Almost every kind of summer activity is available -- golf, hiking, biking, ATVs, exploring, horseback rides, zip line, fishing, paddle boats on the lake, picnicking. Our new Country Club offers movies under the stars weekly in the summer not to mention a pool, fitness center, fine dining and a lively bar with great bar food. Or just relax and enjoy the views from the front porch or the back deck. At the end of a day filled with activity, relax in the cozy living room, warm your toes at the Kiva fireplace or take a long soak in the jacuzzi tub in the master bath. Or step outside and view with amazement the star-filled night.
Built in the Spanish Colonial style, this 1976 sq ft stucco house includes a great room with living space, fire place, dining for eight, an eating bar and a lovely well-equipped kitchen. The master suite has a king size bed, and a bathroom with both a jacuzzi tub and a shower. One guest room has a queen bed and the other a double bed. These two rooms share a bath with a tub/shower enclosure. In addition, there is a window seat in the study with a twin size mattress.
Watch the sunrise from the front porch which runs the length of the house. Or, wrap your self up warmly and sit on the back deck in the early morning and watch the elk playing on the golf course.
Be sure to save time to visit our neighboring towns. Taos, just over the pass is a wonder full place full of history, great museums, galleries, and many fine restaurants. Spend a day in our fascinating state capitol, Santa Fe. It's about a two hour drive and you will love the historical buildings, the Cathedral, galleries, museums and just walking the square. Or, go east to the quaint western town of Cimmaron which is the home of the St. James Hotel, featured on the TV show America's Haunted Places.
The home is owned by permanent residents of Angel Fire who invite you and your family and guests to enjoy mountain life at its finest!
Although Doug is from Nebraska and Mary from Texas, we have always loved New Mexico. We honeymooned here over fifty years ago. We first came to Angel Fire in 1991. In 2002 when Doug retired we built our Angel Fire home. Angel Fire is the perfect place for us and we enjoy entertaining friends and family in this beautiful spot.
Doug & Mary McPherson purchased this house in 2002
Northern New Mexico is not only beautiful but has a rich history and culture. It is noted for its artists and cultural events. We are in close proximity to New Mexico's finest locations. Taos is a short 40 minute drive and boasts wonderful restaurants, great galleries and shopping, the 1200 year old Taos Pueblo and special festivals and events year round. The village of Red River is nestled in a high mountain valley offering skiing, ATVs, lots of activities for the kids and old time mountain fun at its best. Enjoy a trip on the High Road one of many scenic drives in the area and spend a day in Santa Fe, our beautiful state capital, which is a short two hour drive. Be sure to stop in Chimayo for a great lunch or dinner at the Casa de Chimayo.
Our home has gorgeous views of the beautiful Moreno Valley. Enjoy mornings on the front porch and evenings on the back deck and patio. The Angel Fire Resort golf course is an eighteen hole course and is a joy for golfers to play. Since we are located on the fifth green of the golf course, you can enjoy watching the golfers from the back deck. We love the wildlife which surrounds us and we are uniquely situated to watch the elk, deer, Rocky Mountain Bluebirds and lots of other wildlife. Some early mornings afford the unique experience of watching young elk playing in the sand trap just out the back door. Our home is beautifully furnished and fully equipped so come and enjoy this wonderful spot.
This is by far the best Homeaway/VRBO rental ever! Beautiful home - we were pleasantly surprised to find many common books, decor and kitchenware. We felt so much at home.
Angel Fire is a great family oriented ski resort. The house was perfect for my family of 6. We had a wonderful stay and look forward to next time.
My family and I (a total of 6 of us) so much enjoyed staying in this beautiful home during our Christmas/New Year vacation - plenty of room for all of us. It had all everything you could ask for and then some, including the views which were extraordinary! We had white tail deer visit our yard every day (and occasionally a bunny rabbit or two) and it was so peaceful and quiet, a far cry from the city life we are used to, which was heaven. The fireplace was enjoyed by all and just sitting in the window seats looking out over the snow covered yard and the mountains took our breath away. Couldn't ask for better owners in Mary and Doug and such an easy rental process. Access to the property was quick and easy and just a couple of minutes from town. The hill behind the house was excellent for sledding and I'm sure our laughter could be heard throughout the subdivision as we enjoyed ourselves for hours. Thanks Mary and Doug for sharing your wonderful home. We hope we will be able to come again soon.
Great place to stay with great owners. Enjoyed our stay very much. Couldn't ask for more in a vacation home! Thank you for your home and kindness!!
Our family was able to celebrate Thanksgiving in a home away from home this year thanks to this very warm, cozy home. The kitchen was well equipped for our turkey feast. We loved lounging by the fireplace and watching movies, and sitting the library (especially in the window seat) reading the afternoon away. The bedrooms are well-outfitted and the master bed is especially comfy. We explored the golf course on the groomed cross-country ski trails in the snow. We also explored the area a bit, with assorted hikes in gorgeous backcountry parks. The local grocery store had all that we needed. All in all, a most excellent holiday thanks to the comfort of this beautifully decorated home.
This home is very inviting and warm feeling as soon as you walk in the door!! The home definitely exceeded our expectations in all ways! Simply put, the home makes you feel relaxed and "at home" from the very beginning.
Very clean, and has all of the amenities that you would need or want. Great front porch facing east for the sunrises, and a great back porch for the sunsets and for watching the golfers come by up the 5th fairway and green. You are less than 5 minutes from the club house, and less than 8 minutes from the stores.
The owners are exceptional in their communication and direction and where very easy and enjoyable to work with. Thank you so much for opening your beautiful home to us for the week! We highly recommend this property to anyone that is planning on visiting Angel Fire any time of the year. We would absolutely come back!!!
We spent the Labor Day weekend at this luxurious house that sits with a view of the 5th green of Angel Fire golf course. The home has all the luxuries with instructions on how to use them. The view from the top of the area were beautiful with elk traveling through on most nights. The Master Bedroom and Bath were lovely and the house was not only comfortable but functional. I loved the reading room and the view of the 5th green. We watched as golfers came by and often stopped to chat. I would recommend this home to anyone wanting to stay in the area.
