Relax at this beautiful retreat, close enough to Washington, DC for daily excursions, yet surrounded by acres of peaceful woods and pastures. View bald eagles and deer from the living room or one of the porches, and look at the stars as you listen to the owls hooting in the woods. Play the piano and enjoy the warmth of a fire while you sip wine or play a family game. Enjoy farm-fresh eggs, and experience the peacefulness of horses grazing in the pasture and goats playing in their paddocks. Nestled in a private, artsy community next to Piscataway National Park and the National Colonial Farm. Fishing and boating access nearby. Approximately 35 minutes from Washington, DC. This is a wonderful place for families, a romantic getaway, corporate retreats or a group of friends. Please ask about quiet water kayaking, team building, massage, yoga, and catering. The home is approximately 35 minutes from Washington, DC, and 30 minutes from Alexandria, Virginia, in the Moyaone Reserve, a private eco-friendly community within the protected viewshed of Mount Vernon. Each property has a minimum of 5 acres, and permission is required to take down trees, so it is very natural and wooded. Our property is unusual for the area because it has several acres of pasture in addition to the wooded acreage. The community is adjacent to Piscataway National Park, the National Colonial Farm, and Alice Ferguson Foundation's Hard Bargain Farm. Access to both the Potomac River and Piscataway Creek is just a few minutes away.

The main level bedroom has one full and one twin bed with adjoining bathroom. There is a double futon in the living room.

Our family (2 adults + 2 teenagers) have just returned from a weeklong stay in this property. The house is clean, comfortable and very relaxing. It is feels very much away from it all yet only a few minutes drive from the 210 Indian Head Highway. A particularly nice feature was the attached outside room with fly screens around it allowing outdoor dining or just sitting without the worry of flying insects. There was an ample supply of leaflets, detailed maps and a folder of useful information from the owners. The animals were friendly as were the people who came to look after them. There are plenty of activities/games for when not out sightseeing.

Work retreat

This was a perfect retreat for a group of city coworkers in dire need of some fresh air and blue-sky thinking. The house was clean, cozy and slept 7 folks inside just perfectly. Kitchen was roomy and well-appointed for a hungry crew to cook & nosh dinner. A couple of us camped out (those who wanted to) under the stars and treetops by the fire circle. The landscape is stunning, the animals were just precious and we can't wait to come back. The owner was delightful and gave us a very interesting tour of the farm.

The house and its setting were great. The house was clean and well-maintained. The property is beautiful. We commuted to DC for sightseeing almost everyday, and the commute did take some time out of each day, but it was well worth it. We really enjoyed getting out of the city, cooking in the well-equipped kitchen, and relaxing in a beautiful home, as opposed to spending our evenings in a hotel room and eating in restaurants. I would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Wonderful DC Retreat

We spent 10 days at this property with our family of six and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very clean, well-maintained and extremely private. The 40 minute drive to DC was totally worth the relaxing, rural environment. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
