Our daughter goes to college at High Point U in central NC, & we live in Maryland & never get to spend Easter with her because she doesn't get any extra days off. This year she had no classes scheduled on Friday & classes were off on Monday, so we decided to find a nice cabin in the mountains to spend the holiday together.
We could not have asked for a better hostess than in ANI. Even tho she was in FLorida, she put up with my numerous calls about this and that! She is sweet, helpful, courteous & more than we could ever have asked for!! The cabin is up a VERY steep & winding paved road which I seriously suggest you DO NOT try to navigate the first time in the dark. The cabin was spotless and decorated as lovely as the pictures on the webiste showed. The only minor complaint was that there was really very, very little cupboard space to put your groceries. We ended up having to leave most everything out on the counters.
The beds were very comfortable & I have a degenerative spinal disease & the king size bed in the MBR was perfect. I was a bit disappointed that there was no TV in the MBR & also that there were not any directions for the
satellite TV (downstairs in the LR & also in the Family Room on the lower level) which we knew nothing about. It also had very limited programming -lots of children's shows & very little in the line of HGTV, VH1, BRAVO, etc.(adult shows).
The weather was not grreat for the long weekend. There were rain showers all day Saturday, & with Sunday being the holiday, we didn't want to go out & do any sighseeing - we did our Easter baskets (!), ate the traditional hard boiled eggs & kielbasa (Polish tradition!) for breakfast & spent the day out on the deck when the sun was peeking through the clouds & watched a lot of movies we had brought.
Our daughter's boyfriend is returning from his deployment in Iraq in a few weeks & they want to return to the Boone area to enjoy all the summer activities. Too bad this cabin was not available for the week they were looking foe, because my daughter wanted ro rent it.
I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a clean, well decorated & maintained house with a fully equiped kitchen, comfy beds, nice showers & it is the last cabin built as you go up the road, so it is nice & quiet. The views from the deck were phenomenal with the mountains out in the background. Loved it, loved it, loved it! Again, God Bless Ani for the wonderful help & sharing her wonderful home!
