About Navin Agrawal

I'm a San Francisco resident since 1999 and appreciate the beauty and character of the historical homes of San Francisco.

Navin Agrawal purchased this house in 2006

Why Navin Agrawal chose Castro District

Live like a true San Franciscan in an 1899 Victorian which is located in one of the most vibrant neighborhoods of San Francisco where you get the local feel, from the creative arts to the array of savory foods from the diverse ethnic restaurants.

What makes this house unique

I love the local feel of the neighborhood. Dolores Park, which is around the corner is a great place to soak in the sun and people watch. A short walk to the Valencia Street corridor and I can find almost any ethnic cuisine to fulfill my palate.

Great spot, but you may need some earplugs

  • 3 of 5

Good news: beautiful, super cute, loved the back patio, comfy beds, good shower, walking distance to great spots, Uber was our means of transport. Bad news: dog rescue being operated next door- earplugs needed, incessant barking, one got out and we had to deal with it so it didn't get hit in the street-not really how we wanted to spend our last night. The owner did respond to messages, but he was out of the country and got them after the fact. TV needs replaced: no adjustment fixed this picture-NCAA tournament was on and we're a bunch of girls from IN who wanted to watch. TWO rolls of TP for 5 girls for 4 nights....TWO. I get having to buy some TP but really, TWO? No wifi on back patio fyi-not a huge deal. They ask that you start a load of laundry when you leave, but there's no detergent. A handful of Tide Pods would be nice. Two washcloths. Oh and the cleaning staff was still there at 4pm and we had to fold the load of sheets in the dryer. So a bunchof little things resulted in 3 stars. Most of it was not a big deal, but we felt like they were worth mentioning for an honest review.

Owner's Response: Hi Heather, I'm sorry to hear about the next door neighbor's dog getting out onto the street. You did a wonderful deed by saving the neighbors dog, however, I don't think that should reflect on a negative review for my home since it was an issue with the next door neighbor. I have contacted the Animal Control department of San Francisco about the dog rescue operation you said is going on. I was not aware of this recent activity since I have been traveling abroad. The flat screen HD Sony TV which is less than 2 years old became faulty during your stay and has since been replaced with a brand new set. There is an abundance of toilet paper in the laundry room cabinets as well as laundry detergent. Sorry that you did not find them, but a little peek in the cabinet is all it takes. I have also upgraded the wi-fi router so that the signal is now strong enough to be picked up in the back patio. I really appreciate your honest feedback as it helps me improve my the stays for my future guests. The cleaning crew is usually done by 3:30pm, however, sometimes the previous guest are inconsiderate and leave a huge mess for the housekeepers which was the case when you checked in. The housekeepers have a high standard of cleanliness to ensure the highest standard of quality. I apologize for your first world problems and I hope you will consider this home again when you visit San Francisco. :) Cheers, Navin

This was a beautiful home and our experience was a great one. We felt at home and relaxed and slept so well on the comfortable beds. The neighborhood was easy to access and close to everything- we would most certainly stay here again!

OMG this home is GORGEOUS!!! Wow! 10 STARS!

  • 5 of 5

OMG this house is gorgeous!!!! wow! Its straight out of HGTV – amazing! The attention to detail in the décor is outstanding – the claw foot tub, lighting fixtures, unique furniture and even the modern appliances that blend perfectly with the Victorian feel. Its really amazing! I kinda chuckled when I saw the hinge photos in the rental listing, but I get it now. The detail in this renovated Victorian is amazing. Most Victorian homes in SF are made of paint and dirt, but this home is immaculate. Its very cozy and the layout is perfect for small dinner parties or taking time out to have privacy. The backyard is completely private with a working fireplace. The flat is a few blocks from Castro street and a block from Dolores Park, easy buslines and J church train. Very quiet...did I mention gorgeous?!?

Check-in/check-out was super easy, key in the lockbox - have a great time! (no annoying property managers ;)

Navin - thank you for opening your doors to us, we LOVED staying there. I have never been in a Victorian that was in such immaculate condition. I know you put a ton of money into your home – again, gorgeous!

I can't wait to have more friends come visit so we can all come back!

Stunning Home!

  • 5 of 5

I am totally depressed this morning as I am writing this review from my cubicle in crisp East Coast weather wishing I was still there! We stayed there for a family vacation/marriage celebration and it was perfect! Especially with a toddler. The backyard was the perfect place for enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning and star gazing at night! We felt perfectly at home and enjoyed every minute. Very clean and tastefully decorated. Any questions or concerns we had were answered in an instant during our stay. Navin was excellent! We can't wait to come back. Go Giants!

Not exactly as it seems...

  • 2 of 5

I'll be brief, but honest. My husband, infant daughter and I stayed here for just under a week in August. We were quite excited to stay at this property as photos look so enticing. From the moment of arrival we were off to a bad start. We arrived approx 2 hours AFTER check in and the place was a disaster. The cleaner was there scrambling to get started. She vaccumed around us and did a quick job. Bottom line is THIS PLACE LOOKS TIRED. It has beautiful decor that once was looking fresh I am certain but you can tell this place is a revolving door. Not to mention the continuous barking dog next door and the fact that the back porch area is so unkept (fireplace does not work). The toilet seat was broken, the knob on the bathtub fell off when I tried to bathe my daughter. You can hear the downstairs apt people etc. List goes on. The neighbourhood is touch and go to. Just be wary when renting this place. It needs some TLC and an honest review so such changes are made.

Owner's Response: Dear Megan, The cleaning lady had a late start that day due to her baby being sick. Cleaners spend at least 3-4 hours to make the home immaculate for all guests arrival. All the furniture, including the mattresses are of high quality which were purchased less than 3 years ago. The interior of the home was professionally designed and is maintained with fresh new paint every year so I’m not sure how you perceived this multi-million dollar home as “looking tired” and a “revolving door” All guests who have stayed at this property have given 5 star reviews, including other websites such as Airbnb. The outdoor patio is also maintained by a gardner as well as cleaned on every new guests arrival. The fireplace in the back patio DOES work and was working during your stay. The toilet seat has been replaced as the hinge was wearing off. The handle in the tub only had a loose screw which was easily screwed back on tightly. There are dogs in the neighborhood which bark occasionally which is beyond my control. San Francisco is a city with lots of dogs and dog lovers. The neighborhood where the home is located is Dolores Park and is one of the San Francisco’s best neighborhoods. Please ask any San Franciscan or anyone who KNOWS San Francisco how wonderful this neighborhood is, especially being next to Dolores Park and the Valencia St. corridor where all the locals favorite restaurants are located. Sorry if you had a bad experience with the house not being ready upon your arrival and it will be addressed as all your other feedback will be taken into consideration. Sincerely, Navin
