Apartment in a historically interesting building, formerly half-timbered farmhouse - partly converted by brick facades of the '20s. The house belonged to the brickworks in Rüterberg that produced quality Hartbranntklinker. In the past 9 years it has been thoroughly renovated. Partially visible framework and adobe walls, large roof window to the Elbe and the forest behind the house. Large garden with different areas: flower and vegetable garden, lawn to rest and play, hillside forest, several seating with beautiful views.
The apartment is at all seasons very sexy!
Our apartment is located in the biosphere reserve Elbe Valley - directly on the Elbe River in Rüterberg - view across to the southwest of the Wendland with unique sunsets. You can see wild geese, ducks, mergansers, cormorants, gray and silver herons, cranes, eagles, storks, beavers and foxes, etc. .. The nature is very rich and varied. In the vast pine and oak mixed forests are plentiful mushrooms, especially porcini, chanterelles and chestnuts.
For nature enthusiasts, who appreciate peace and quiet, this is the ideal place.
'Farewell to Rüterberg
Once again attracts your forest
spreads soft green pillow over
send flittingly sunspots preceded me
under the silence of the trees
brown red white mushroom caps from
invites you to quiz
whispers secret dottergelb
with silvery lichen
I'd like 'me lose you in his silence
and yet führ'n his paths
I finally also
and I find myself on

The vastness of the landscape with the river, the great flood meadows, willows, poplars and elms, and especially the great sky with beautiful clouds images fascinate us every day. And at night you can look at a brilliant starry sky, which is not disturbed by light from cities - but of course only in clear weather.
The area is ideal for cycling, the house is located on the same bike path.
We have a private jetty in front of the door, the groynes are popular places for anglers.
Rüterberg is a small village on a hill overlooking the Elbe valley, our house is at the end of the village.
Rüterberg has become nationally known as 'village republic Rüterberg', to which the residents have joined forces as the German Democratic Republic ceased to exist. The village was completely locked up because of its exposed position on the inner German border with a fence. The entrance gate was closed at night, so that the inhabitants were no longer admitted.
Another peculiarity was the Rueter Berger brickyard, which has produced very nice dark hard-fired clinker and sold to Hamburg among others. With these stones there was a lot of construction; as best-known building is the Chile House. With these stones, the facade was remodeled even in our house in the 20s.
Rewarding destinations in the area include Doemitz, Ludwig pleasure and Schwerin.
In Doemitz there is a mighty citadel, in which the poet Fritz Reuter has been sitting in prison. Doemitz has a picturesque old town (including the second Karstadt department store in Germany), a small port at the Müritz Elde-Waterway and a very popular cafe with great panoramic views in the same landscape.
The county town Ludwig Lust is famous for its Baroque castle with large park.
And as the state capital Schwerin with plenty of surrounding lakes, a Neo-classical city and the 'fairytale castle', in which the Parliament resides, is definitely worth a visit.
The Wendland or the county Lüchow- Dannenberg on the opposite side of the river offers a surprising amount of cultural activities. In the spring there is the 'Cultural Outing', which introduced a large number of artists, artisans and various initiatives.
Hitzacker is a picturesque town on the Elbe River a few kilometers in a straight line from here to the Lower Saxon Elbe. One can easily get there by bike and a small passenger ferry to drinking coffee or ice cream and choose the other side of the river and the bridge Dömitzer for the return trip. Hitzacker is nationally known for music lovers because of the 'Summer Music Festival' and the 'Music Week Hitzacker' in February.
Good to very good restaurants there are on both sides of the Elbe.
