CASA GRANDE

Casa Grande is well located just a block from the beach. Fall asleep to the sound of the surf, frogs and night birds - lovely! This is not a beach for small children so if you have little kids, book a place down on the Rincon beaches to the south, but teenagers had lots of fun battling the waves. Lots of stairs and a steep drive so it is not a good place for anyone with mobility issues.
The house itself is a little neglected, so I felt we overpaid considering the condition of the place - leaking pipes (where did that puddle in the bathroom come from?) miscellaneous fitness equipment sitting in the living room and some bedrooms, a dangerous hammock (rusty hook) on the porch, hodge podge equipment in the kitchen (many lids, few containers, not enough appropriate glasses or cutlery for 8 people, missing shelf in the fridge). The house needs a good deal of attention and some money spent by the owners, some fresh supplies (give us a broom and a decent mop and supply the place with dish detergent and kitchen cloths please!), some lounge chairs, some lounge chairs, and replace the musty, uncomfortable couches. Not sure I would recommend it in its current condition but with a little attention it would be fine. The pool was great, clean and a nice place to relax when you were tired out by the waves.
Yes, it sleeps lots of people, but the 2nd bathroom (top level) which services 3 bedrooms is accessed from within the biggest bedroom. That bedroom has something like 6 beds so it is a dorm style. It would be a little wierd for 4 couples as 2 couples would have to walk into the 4th couples' bedroom to use the bathroom.... The setup is better for a couple of families and lots of kids.
Rincon was the perfect place for young adults - there's a local bar, Tamboo, one of the "hotspots" on the coast. It could be a little noisy at night but the surf masked the sound. Yoga classes on the beach twice a day were excellent, but we only discovered them in our last couple days. Don't miss out! Surfing lessons were a big hit too. Banana dang serves the most delicious capuccino I think I've ever had. If you're a coffee drinker, don't miss it.
You absolutely need a car if you're planning to stay in Rincon!
