Innere Stadt Vacation Rental apartment: Vienna

We are Aussie middle-aged tired business folk who just took our first northern winter Christmas.
It is difficult to choose properties over the internet as many are not what they promise, but the apartment we took in Vienna was everything we had hoped, everything it promised - and then some.
This apartment is right in the action, close to transport, shopping, the Opera, Naschmarket, museums, Christmas markets, etc, but most of all it is a grand old lady of an apartment in an up-market neighborhood. Huge proportions, quiet, beautifully furnished and equipped, everything worked, first class all the way. Good restaurants within 50 metres! and a great kitchen for when you can't be bothered going out!
We look forward to our next stay at this apartment. Beautiful AND good value!

This apartment was perfect for my father and me, giving us room for privacy, and at the same time rooms in which to spend time together. We were there for 12 nights. The decor is a mix of modern and antique, and is great for either a family group or a group of friends that is comfortable traveling together. If anything, we wished that my brother had joined us. The apartment was on the first floor (second, for us US citizens), with minimal steps, and an elevator. This was important, as my father uses a cane. The apartment is large, roomy and comfortable, especially the beds. The apartment has tall ceilings and its original parquet floors with oriental carpets. The location was perfect, one block from the Ring road, two and a half blocks from the Opera in one direction, and the same to the Hofburg, Kunsthistoriches Museum, Natural History Museum, Museum Quartier (modern art) in the other direction. A little further, but still in walking distance, were the Secession Building and the Albertina. St. Stephen's Cathedral and the pedestrian shopping areas of Kartnerstrasse and the Nashmarkt are also in walking distance. We brought our lunch to the Burggarten one day enjoyed it on the benches.
As important, tram, bus and taxi access were very close. There were convenient restaurants and a delicatessen close by. Having the apartment to come home to after a day of sightseeing was wonderful. I would recommend this apartment for anyone who is comfortable without the services of a hotel and enjoys space and the convenience of being able to manage their own meals and run a load of laundry through the washer. I would (and will) go back again if I had the opportunity.

We had the pleasure of renting this fine apartment for 5 nights in late September. The owner was extremely helpful, welcoming and followed up with us by phone to see if all was well upon our arrival. The apartment is one block from the Ringstraße, and only another block or two from the Vienna State Opera House. The MuseumsQuartier is also adjacent to the apartment as well as the Burggarten, the expansive Hofburg Palace Complex and the bustling pedestrian mall of great shops and stores that is Kärtnerstraße, which leads you directly to Stephansdom. Truly the location is outstanding for anyone who would like to be a short walk away from the Innere Stadt sights as well as tram and subway stops to explore other parts of the city.

The apartment was very spacious and elegant, well kept, clean and fully equipped. The large bathroom appears to have had a recent renovation and has a huge garden tub and so was the separate water closet. The kitchen has been updated and has a dishwasher and a combination clothes washer/dryer and features gas cooking. The ceilings throughout the apartment were over 12 feet in height and gave it an especially grand feel. The windows were numerous, large and also featured paneled custom made interior shutters for additional privacy. There is a nice selection of books and toys for the children available in the apartment for your use as well.

While there were only 3 of us, this large apartment could easily sleep 6 with ease. The photos on this site are not able to convey the real feel of the apartment and its immediate surroundings. When we arrived we were so very pleasantly surprised and pleased upon entering. With the location, the apartment itself and the amenities along with the gracious owner Ursula, we would not consider renting anything else for a future visit to Vienna.
