1 MILE TO TANGLEWOOD, SHORT WALK TO TOWN OF LENOX, PET FRIENDLY

Lenox House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms + Den, 3 Full Baths, (Sleeps 6-8) quiet dead-end street near town

Located in Lenox, just a block outside of the town center on a quiet dead-end street. Recently restored Colonial home offers all new, top of the line appliances (Thermador stove, Flos lighting, Kitchen Aide mixer, All-clad pots/pans, baking pans, Vietri tableware, but no microwave, maple floors, marble counter tops, updated bathrooms and professionally decorated living spaces. Living room, separate dining room, as well as den/TV room. (basic cable). Sleeps six comfortably with extra pull-out couch in den for guests.

(Note: The house is 2800 sq ft. and can sleep 9 people in the 3 bedrooms and one den. However, we prefer to limit that number to no more than 6.) Plenty of room for family reunions.

St. Anns Ave is a quiet dead end street which has not changed much in the past 100 years. In our full renovation in 2003, we tried to maintain the character of our old house by leaving all the long plank hardwood floors and the old wooden windows and repaired rather than replaced plaster walls and vintage plumbing fixtures. We selected antique sconces and whenever possible the furnishing are in keeping with the period when the house was built. However, comfort is key; you'll love to curl up on the new down stuffed living room couch or doze on the Shifman mattress.

Relax and enjoy the grill or a cool drink on the wrap around porch and in our perennial garden. Although the center Lenox is a three minutes walk. There you will find fine dining, shops, playgrounds, tennis-courts, spa services and more.

Tanglewood is less than five minutes by car, Shakespeare and Company, a mile down the road. Hiking trails are a short walk up the hill and Laurel lake two miles away. Get into the rhythm of a peaceful country life never too far from all Berkshire attractions and the amenities Lenox provides.

Keywords: House built in 1880, fully renovated, 2 story colonial. Antique furnishing, carefully decorated, old world charm

Guestbook comments from the owner
We stayed in Lenox for 2 weeks the summer of 2008. We had the best time. There is so much to do so close by. The kids got to enjoy this quiet, beautiful, old house with lovely garden which contrasts with our ultra modern noisy, New York apartment. Even the dog was sad to leave. Andrea provides great insights and tips and is always available. The house has everything we needed and is extremely comfortable.

This is Willow and me in Spain last summer. Willow is our Westie and she travels with Daniel and I wherever we go. We spend most of our summer in Portugal leaving us the possibility to rent our Lenox home.

We are spending a lot more time in New York City these days, but Willow much prefers Lenox where she has a back yard and can run free in Kennedy Park.

Andrea purchased this house in 2002

Over ten years ago, we bought the home as a full time residence. It was a perfect home for then teenage boys, close to town on a quiet street.

Lenox is a great place to be all year round. It's quiet and safe, but provides cultural attractions that rival many big cities. Now that our three boys are grown and have moved away, our house is always ready for to be rented. We spend less time there and more time travelling. But Lenox is an easy place to come back to. Everybody knows your name.

We travel all over the world spending time above all in New York, Portugal, Italy. When we return from these hectic places, our time in Lenox is spent out in nature as much as possible. Our neighborhood is quiet even during summer months when town is full to the brim. Our house is great for outdoor dining and is a short walk to the center of Lenox as well as hiking and biking trails. Of course we enjoy Jacob's Pillow and Tanglewood as well!

CHARMING HOME IN A GREAT LOCATION VERY CLOSE TO TOWN

  • 5 of 5
My sister and I were given the task of finding a rental for my mother that we could both visit. (I am in Boston area and she in New York). Lenox fits that bill rather ideally. This house is close enough the center of Lenox that my sister could wheel her bag over from where the bus stops. FOr me it was an easy 2 hour drive. We all walked into town for dinners and to go to the library which is impressive for a small village. It is also a few minute drive from Tanglewood.
The house is charming. It was renovated, but as 14 year old daughter said “it feels like grandma’s house if I had a grandma who baked cookies”. My mom does not bake, but the kitchen has all the equipment one would need to make those cookies and we did enjoy cooking in it as those who were not working could sit at the counter and watch.
The best part of the house is the front porch where we could all find a comfortable spot to read. We also liked the garden out back which is small but has a European secret garden feel.
Also Andrea was really helpful. We used many of her suggestions for restaurants and back way to Tanglewood.

LENOX, ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES.

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I spent two weeks last summer in Lenox and enjoyed every minute of our time at the house. The location is perfect, It's an easy walk into the center of Lenox to visit the shops and great restaurants and it's only a short drive to Tanglewood which was the real purpose of our visit.

My daughter and her three children spent a few days with us and the kids loved the house especially the hammock and swing on the front porch. The garden is lovely with beautiful flowers but there were quite a few bees doing what bees do so we didn't spend a lot of time out there. The house was large enough that even with three adults and three kids we weren't cramped. The kids loved eating out on the porch at the high table and so did I. It was a great place to have coffee or a glass of wine and enjoy the glorious weather.

We were able to take the kids blueberry picking and found a great playground for them not too far away and of course there was the lake nearby for a little boating and swimming. The kids ages 4,6 and 8 had a wonderul time in Lenox too.

We had a few lovely dinners in the large dining room with the kids as well as some friends and family that were in town. We found everything we needed to entertain nine or ten people for dinner. Since we're from Florida and we grill a lot down here we were happy that there was a grill available, a microwave would be nice but we survived without one.

We found the house to be exactly as the pictures described it. The house had many antiques which were lovely. We had a friend visit that is into antiques and older homes and she could have moved right in, she was in heaven with the mouldngs and built in cabinet in the dining room among other things.

Andrea was extremely helpful and left lots of information for us which we greatly appreciated; we visited some of the restaurants she mentioned and Alta was our favorite; I think we were there two or three times. She had lots of information about the workings of the house and phone numbers if they were needed.

I love Lenox and have been there many times when we lived in New York and hope to go back one of these days and would be happy to conact Andrea again for a future visit.

FAMILY FUN IN A LOVELY HOUSE IN THE BEST LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
Andrea, It is a great pleasure to write this review and I am very happy that you asked. Of course it is winter now so thinking about last summer is yet more of a delight.

We had a wonder week in your house last summer. We especially enjoyed the close proximity to the town and that everything we wanted to do was within a shirt drive. I have to admit we took a few nights off from "culture" and walked into town for dinner. Thank you for all the recommendations. I am sorry we did not have time to explore more. My husband and I have been to the Berkshire's before, but we stayed in Great Barrington which is a bit of a schlep to get wherever we were going. We had never stayed in Lenox until last year. If we do return again in the summer we would stay at your house again and we recommend Lenox as it is so central.
The other thing I really liked about the house is that there was plenty of room for our kids to come visit. We did not feel on top of each other. We also enjoyed the garden which was still colorful when we were there end of August. Our dog Nelly also loved it out there.

I also enjoyed your kitchen. It's obvious that you like to cook. One thing that would be nice is if you had a microwave, but not crucial. What else can I say? I hope we left everything in order!

NOVEMBER IN LENOX

  • 5 of 5
I found this house for my family to stay in on our wedding weekend, and it worked out perfect! Right in town the location was perfect and it was so comfortable everyone felt right at home! We arrived later than anticipated but had no problems finding the house and getting right in so everyone could rest from their travels. Andrea, the owner, left lots of great information so they could get around with ease. It could not have worked out better and my family really enjoyed the charm of the history and antiques in the house itself. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to enjoy the Berkshires and be in the heart of Lenox (our favorite town!) with easy access to all it has to offer and the surrounding towns just down the road!

A TRULY LOVELY HOME FOR A GREAT VACATION

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I spent an extremely enjoyable week in this beautiful Lenox home which was a few short blocks from the center of town. The owner was so helpful and recommended wonderful restaurants and places for us to visit. She also helped us decide that Lenox was the perfect location for our vacation as we had never been to the Berkshires before and we were unsure what area to stay. The home was immaculate with beautiful woodwork and lovely furnishings and artwork/photography. It looked just like in the pictures. We would recommend this home to our friends and family and plan on coming back next year.

OUR FAMILY LOVED THE STAY AT THIS GRACIOUS HOME

  • 5 of 5
The owner's description of the house and its proximity to town and nearby attractions is accurate and extremely helpful. We were 6 adults who found the home charming, comfortable and accommodating to our needs, especially the culinary ones. We loved the large, very functional kitchen in which we chatted while the chefs du jour did their thing. And we spent much time eating, then lingering, around the long dining room table or the table on the porch or the one in the landscaped-for-privacy, beautiful back yard. Often we strolled into Lenox to browse the shops, have coffee and croissants, and/or dinner. But also within walking distance are hiking trails in a forested park, not to mention proximity to Tanglewood and the other well-known attractions. (Be sure to drive to the Norman Rockwell Museum--it's a gem). We are grateful to the owners of this home. Everyone in our family loved it.
