Idyllic family break at Pekes

My kids (6+7) and I wanted a few days away from normal life - and that's exactly what we found here.
We stayed in The Wing, which is a quirky mix of beautiful old furniture and 70s pieces, like my wonderfully comfy fold-out-of-the-wall bed! It was all sparkling clean. The kitchen was modern and well equipped. Loads of hot water. The kids shared the one bedroom, and after they were asleep each night, worn out with fresh air, I pottered round the enormous lounge/dining room reading the collection of old books and looking through pictures of Pekes in the olden days. There was a big TV with freeview, a video and a DVD player, but I felt too peaceful to let modern life intrude!
The grounds were amazing - topiary ducks, a secret walled garden, chickens, ponies, room to fly a kite and play badminton, tennis courts, table tennis, and of course the gorgeous pool, clean and very warm, surrounded by lovely plants. I could sit and watch from the side, reading a magazine, not like cparcs where I have to get in and shiver!
We ate out every lunchtime at some lovely local eateries (Route 22 on the A22 south of Hailsham is v good USA diner), but I couldn't persuade the kids to go to any other amusement parks, they just wanted to play at Pekes.
It's certainly not a 5 star boutique place, but quintessentially English, slightly eccentric, and wonderful for that. Many thanks.
Owner's Response: I was so glad to this family enjoyed their stay in the Wing so much. It makes our efforts to provide friendly comfortable accommodation seem very worthwhile. Eva (Owner)
