A Peaceful Sanctuary is a beautifully renovated 1928 farmhouse located on an acre of land, nestled in an 86 year old walnut grove. We are a working farm with Alpacas, Cashmere goats and chickens.

We are conveniently located 1 mile off I-5 exit 195A on the Eugene/Springfield border. Just 4 miles from the Uofo A Peaceful Sanctuary is perfect for visiting family, business meetings, vacations, Duck Games, Graduations, romantic getaways and as an extended stay.

Come treat yourself to total comfort by sleeping on 650 thread cotton sateen sheets and top of the line queen sized beds, one pillow top and the other firm. Each bedroom has a 19' flat screen TV with Comcast with Showtime, plus air conditioning. A home office is included for your convenience with a computer and high speed internet as well as wifi. The kitchen is fully equipped as well as a washer and dryer.

Much of the house is decorated by local artists work and antiques. The home with two bedrooms, is minutes from The UofO,The Saturday Market, Autzen Stadium Duck games and The Hult Center. The shuttle bus to Duck games is a block away and is the best way to travel to the game. We are close to a mall, theaters, post office and many restaurants, some walking distance away.

Located in the Willamette Valley, we are only an hour to the coast and the Cascade Mts. We are on the edge of town, with the city on one side and the wilderness on the other. Our farm faces the beautiful Coburg Hills and the crystal clear McKenzie River is a 5 minute walk. Swim and raft the River or take that leisurely stroll and watch the river flow.

Each morning you will receive freshly laid eggs by our hens who are naturally fed and free range as well as organic coffee and tea.

A Peaceful Sanctuary sells naturally fed chickens and eggs. Our hens are fed feed that is organically grown (not certified organic) with no soy or GMO's.Our Cashmere goats are leased out to people for blackberry and brush eradication as well as I collect their Cashmere to be spun.

We have 2 dozen hens, 142 newborn chicks, Opus and Regalo our Alpacas, 10 Cashmere goats, a kitty named Merlin and our rescue puppy Olivia.

The animals on our farm offer wonderful, heart warming experiences for children and adults a like. Children are always welcome to help me with farm chores, taking care of the animals and collecting the eggs.

If you never have had the experience of being with an Alpaca you are in for a treat. They are the lovers not fighters. Opus and Regalo are sweet, friendly and passive creatures that will give kisses for carrots, guaranteed to melt your heart.

Our rates are $120.00 per night. Over 4 guests an additional $10 per night per guest, plus 9.5% hotel tax and cleaning fee. The cleaning fee is $50.00 if the house is left as clean as when you arrived and the towels and sheets to be washed are on the back porch upon departure. If additional cleaning is needed it is at $25.00 an hr. For our guests with sensitivities please refrain from wearing perfume or cologne when staying at my home. The perfume and cologne permeate the sheets, blankets, pillows and quilts. It’s is very hard to get the smell out. We require a $200 deposit which will be refunded back to you within 24 hrs. About Pam Basilius

It is my intention in opening my home for rent to offer comfort, bring happiness to people and make magical memories for children they will carry with them for a lifetime. Life is so challenging for many especially now. It is my way of creating a business that is green, brings peace to people and gives back to the community.

Pam Basilius purchased this farmhouse in 2000

Why Pam Basilius chose Eugene

The reason I chose to buy my house in this location was because of the beautiful land, views and very quaint, homey house and walking distance to the McKenzie River. It was a happy home with 11 children being raised here and you can tell there was a lot of love. We are a mile off I-5 and 4 miles drive to downtown Eugene. The feel of out in the country but close to everything.

What makes this farmhouse unique

We are 1928 working farm nestled in an old Walnut grove with very old vegetation and flowers. There are hummingbirds that feed daily and live here year round feed. The birds feed off feeders just a few feet from house. We are a 5 minute walk from the beautiful McKenzie River.

Peaceful and Pleasant

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I regularly stay at the "Peaceful Sanctuary" when we come to Eugene to visit our son's family. We love the clean, comfortable, homey cottage with all of it's country charm. Pam provides everything we need, including fresh eggs from her chickens for breakfast. It's close to stores and amenities and is a good base for exploring the beautiful Oregon mountains, lakes, rivers, and seaside. We highly recommend it!

a fun farm adventure

  • 5 of 5
My brother, sister-in-law and their three daughters (all under age 9) loved the farm. They enjoyed getting to play with the chickens, alpacas, and little tiny dogs Pam owns. Pam is a friendly and kind person who they enjoyed talking to and learning from. Their only disappointment was that they did not get eggs each morning as they expected to get, but it was during the holidays and I believe Pam was out of town. They will definitely stay there again should they need a place when they come to visit Eugene next time!

Owner's Response: My apologies for not being able to have eggs daily. We had lost chickens to raccoons and being winter most of my chickens are not laying. I am going to raise another 20 birds so there will always be enough eggs from now on. The girls were so cute. It was fun to watch. They were so excited about the chickens.

Best of everything

  • 5 of 5
We have stayed at Pam's place twice now and just booked a third visit . So many things bring us back.
1. The setting ( close in but yet the feeling of being in the country)
2. Meeting the alpaca ( and a sample of Regalo's fiber from Pam that I spun up into prize winning yarn at the county fair ).
3. Fresh eggs every morning.
4. Comfortable beds.
5. A well supplied kitchen .
6. Garden for lounging, sitting around the firepit .
6. Pam , a gracious hostess
7. So many things to do nearby that we only wish we could stay longer !

Great vacation Farm house

  • 5 of 5
We have family in Eugene and we were looking for a vacation home to accommodate our family of 3 and our niece and nephew who live in Eugene for 4 days in November. After doing some research, I was curious about this farm vacation home. After speaking with Pam, the owner I was completely sold in staying at her farm. The farm was conveniently located near my niece and nephew's schools and home. We were very pleased that we stayed at the farm. It is cozy, warm and has a nice character. We felt at home. Pam is an excellent host and showed us her Alpacas, goats, chickens, the farm's operation and her 2 adopted chihuahuas. We had fresh eggs daily. The farm brought nice memories to my brother and I of our paternal grandparents who lived in a farm. It was nice to be able to cook. We invited Pam and her chihuahuas to shared a home made dinner with us. We had a great time visiting with them. We would like to stay at this farm when visiting our niece and nephew again. We highly recommended. Thank you Pam for your hospitality and opening your home to us.

GO DUCKS!!!!

  • 5 of 5
This was the third time we have stayed at A Peaceful Sanctuary and it was great. Visiting with Pam, walking down to the McKenzie River (5 minute stroll) and of course visiting our favorite micro-brewery, Hop Valley. Oh did I mention attending Oregon Duck football games? Thanks Pam and we hope to see you next year.
