Three roads branching off of Rte 1, Overseas Highway, converge at a bayside shore to create a pristine neighborhood that has a blend of Old and New Key Largo. Just 5 miles south of the busy center of Key Largo, these three roads make up the Bay Harbor Neighborhood that has a blend of Conch Houses and extravagant waterfront properties in a peaceful, bayside setting. Preserved lots that contain the unique flora and fauna of the Keys are speckled between each home, creating privacy.
This remodeled 1958 Conch House is on North Bay Harbor Drive and has the Charm of Old Cape Cod with the beauty of Key Largo Sunsets. The pastel colored rooms are decorated with modern furnishings that are conducive to lounging and relaxing. A pit sofa converts into a comfortable pull out bed for unexpected guests. The twin beds come together for a king bed if needed.
The house has a secluded back yard with tropical surroundings. It features an enclosed hot and cold outdoor shower, perfect for rinsing off after the beach or enjoying a relaxing hot shower under the trees or stars. An outdoor covered patio is the perfect spot for dining al fresco after cooking fresh fish on the grill. Located just 100 yards from our bayside beach, the house sits back from the street. The Private Homeowners Park, usually uninhabited, has a white sandy beach, with breathtaking sunsets, and a picnic area. Great cove for Kayaking! There is a public boat launch just 1 street away, open sun up to sunset.
It is an easy, picturesque, 1 hr. drive from Miami Airport using the Florida Turnpike to Florida City. Enter the Keys through the mangrove tree lined 'Stretch' of US 1. The scenic bridge gives way to a panoramic view of the mainland, Everglades National Park and the small developing Keys. You are now entering the first and largest Key in the chain of islands that extend for over a hundred miles, connected by bridges and narrow strips of land. Our house is just 10 minutes south of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park MM102, major grocery stores and outlets. Day trips to Marathon and Key West, two of the larger Keys, with stops along the way at artisan villages and quaint restaurants, flea markets and shops make Key Largo a prime place to vacation. Head south to feed the Tarpon at 'Robbie's' MM77.5 or take a boat tour to Lignumvitae, a historic State Park with nature trails. Keep going to MM61, Hawk's Cay Resort on Duck Key to feed the Dolphin. On the way home, stop at 'Lorelei' MM 81 for a fish sandwich, music and sunset. Finer dining is available at Snapper's, just one mile south of our house, or head north to MM103 to Sundowners where you can dine on the beach and watch the sun retire.
Great place for a family getaway or winter reprieve!
Quiet, relaxing neighborhood, private home
We really enjoyed the weekend here. Your place is great and the neighborhood is really quiet and the people are nice too. The beach is very good for families with children and the fishing area is excellent......
We're looking forward to coming back soon. Thanks for everything!
