Two story Victorian Cottage. Living room with vaulted ceiling, kitchen, master bedroom and bath on first floor. Second floor bedroom with twin beds and youth cot.
The Cottage is located on a private road in the historic town of Searsport Maine:The Penobscot Marine Museum, library, restaurants, bookstores and grocery are all within a short walking distance, as is the beautiful seaside Town park and dock on Searsport harbor.
Refurbished in 2008, it retains the old fashioned charm of a victorian cottage. From the great room, the french doors open onto the deck affording panoramic views of windjammer schooners and working lobster boats. Access to the shore is about 400 feet.
In the 'Age of Sail',the small town of Searsport Maine provided 10% of all the sea captains in the U.S. Clippership trade and was a shipbuilding center.
Today Searsport is known as the 'Antique Capital of Maine', with many stores and flea markets nearby. The largest commercial and pleasure boat marine supply store in New England is in Searsport, along with a very well known ship model builders supply and retail store.
This cottage is not available from November to May .
The cottage has all the amenities one could want without sacrificing its coastal charm. It's a very short drive to downtown Searsport, close to beautiful state parks, museums, antique shops and fresh seafood. The cottage provides easy access to the beach, fantastic views, a deck great for catching rays, grilling or just watching the tide roll in. Very clean, with comfortable beds, nice linens and enough hot water for everyone. The pictures don't lie.
We have used VRBO to stay across the country, and always had a positive experience. But we've never had a more friendly and accommodating host working with us than Nancy. Her thoughtfulness and consideration made our trip even better.
It's not a question of if we will be back, just a matter of when.
This one of the sweetest properties I've ever rented from VRBO. A view of the ocean from every window, right in the heart of Searsport, which is right in the middle of MidCoast Maine and complete with everything one could possibly want in a cottage. I had the joy of closing down the season for 2013 and Nancy even scurried to get everything ready on a moment's notice. Just couldn't have been better. The weather even cooperated. Thank you so much!
At last we had the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful cottage for a week, and the experience was even better than we imagined. The cottage reflects Nancy's attention to every little detail to make sure her guests truly feel welcome. Of course, the spectacular weather enabled us to enjoy the Penobscot Bay from beautiful sunrise to sunset. Comfortable beds, plenty of fresh linens, and a squeaky clean, well stocked kitchen helped to make this a perfect vacation. Its location offers so many opportunities that it's impossible to see and do everything you wanted to do. I guess we'll just have to come back next year. Many thanks Nancy for your wonderful Maine hospitality.
We enjoyed the great hospitality of the cottage.. the cottage was clean, well stocked with towels, condiments for cooking, and everything we would need for a nice stay. Nancy even put out a large dog bed and a water dish for our two little tea cup pups that travel with us. With our coffee in hand, we enjoyed watching the lobsterman checking his traps. Although, it rained quite a bit we were snug and warm and enjoyed the wonderful thunderstorm and watched the lightning streak across the surface of the ocean. The beds were comfortable and even the shower stayed hot, after four adults had a shower in the morning. We really enjoyed the book of highlights of the area, resturants, phone numbers for activities. We sat in the living room and made reservations for our outings the day before we went, it was wonderful. We also enjoyed the guest book which told about things others did on thier vacations and recieved many ideas of cheap and low cost and I might add FUN activities to do. This was our third trip to this cottage, but the first one with Nancy as the owner, and this was by far our best trip to Maine ever. Thank you so much Nancy! By the way, thanks for sending back the sponge bob square pants pj's... it was so kind of you. I just cant say enough wonderful things about this cottage and Nancy's hospitality....we will be back!!
We were there the second week of June. It was so beautiul. The weather was perfect and the cottage was even cuter then the photos. Waking up and sitting on the deck and looking at the water was wonderful. We ate on the deck every night even if we ordered food from a restaurant. Too beautiful not to. Our dog Toby loved it, like it was his home. We were so comfortable there we hated to leave.
We can't thank you enough Nancy for the great hospitality and the beautiful cottage.
We can't wait to come back.

We stayed at Nancy's Victorian Cottage for the month of July and everything about it was perfect. The cottage is even more beautiful than the photo's. Very comfortable ! Sitting on the deck overlooking the Penobscot Bay with our morning Coffee was priceless! Jim's favorite time was "anytime" sitting on the deck enjoying the veiw. Being from Searsport, I needed to get up close and personal with the seaweed, rocks and swimming in the cool clear water! Everyday I combed the beach for shells, seaglass and any other treasures among the rocks. I also enjoyed having my great-grandchildren come and visit. Swimming , beach combing and playing games. Maddie , our Australian Terrier, felt right at home and enjoyed it all. It was a perfect month including the weather. Thank you Nancy! We look forward to next summer.
