further activities: Umbria is beautiful all year round. Each and every month of the year has its very own charm and quality, its colors, scents and sounds. The people of Umbria are still very much in tune with a rhythm given by nature itself.
Within the medieval boundary walls of the town, you‘ll find plenty of witnesses of a turbulent and rich history. Numerous shops, cafés and restaurants inviting you for a strole or remain and watch the busy life in the streets.
The personal touch and extraordinary friendliness of the people of Città della Pieve, surely contribute to the special charm of the town. The Italian spoken in this area, is said to be one of the clearest and most beautiful in the country. About Stephanie Countess zu Ortenburg
I have bought a farm ruin in 2000 and now I am renting the house to everyone who likes to spend their holidays in a beautiful house in Umbria. The locating is fantastic, 90 km from Rome and Florence on the Autostrada di SOLE. I love living here and to have interesting, fun guests.
Stephanie Countess zu Ortenburg purchased this villa in 2000
Why Stephanie Countess zu Ortenburg chose Citta della Pieve
The house is very privately set, but close to the A1 Autostrada di Sole. the trainstation is 10 min. away from the grounds. I have nice neighbours, but not to close. The property is 8 ha large and has lovely olivetrees and vines. In the large garden are very big old oak trees and there are lovely views.
What makes this villa unique
The house is very practical and has a lot of Charakter and restoring it we left many typical umbrian details. The garden has many old and special plants.
Guestbook comments from the owner
I must recommend this high class villa, a tastefully restored olive farm, set amongst rolling hills with extraordinary views. We enjoyed many days of glorious sunshine and mild weather during our holiday this winter, just seven hours' drive from Munich!
The villa's a good size and we found it has all one desires to feel comfortable - including internet access, TV, dishwasher, fully equipped kitchen etc.(and we have high expectations..). The landscape that surrounds it is stunning with those Etruscan villages and towns nestling along mountain tops. A most spectacular view meets the eye from the top bedroom terrace just after waking up, and all the bedrooms are tastefully decorated and beautifully equipped. Occasionally we even had food on the terrace and in the garden, despite it being mid winter!
We found this tranquil countryside totally relaxing and great to get away from it all. The kids loved the freedom to run around and explore! But after a few days it also proved to be an ideal starting point for exploring interesting towns, village and places of natural beauty.
We enjoyed the markets and historic towns of nearby Citta Della Pieve, visited the historic town of Orvieto, drove just 10 minutes into Tuscany with its stylish town squares and typical hill tops bordered by cypress trees, enjoyed the stunning views across Lake Trasimeno which we reached after an easy car drive. We also visited a "living nativity scene" in the hilltop town of Monteleone, where the whole town took part in re-enacting life in Bethlehem at the birth of Christ. This event is famous across the whole of Italy, and for good reason!
We found the house is in a great location, easy to reach by motorway and rail (we made a day trip to Rome by train), and at the same time totally tranquil! Next time we'll fly to Perugia airport which is less than 1 hour drive from Villa Cerqualto. We will certainly come back, we've discovered a real pearl here in Umbria.
