BEAUTIFUL AND SWEET ADOBE HOME IN OLD TOWN AREA.

Albuquerque House Rental Photos and Description

House, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Very centrally located on a quiet, safe street, Casa de Calderones is a 99 year old adobe home with thick walls and an Old World feel. Lovingly restored with an artistic touch, the rooms are large and comfortable.

Original red painted wood floor in dining room with large dining table. The bedroom is carpeted and has a cozy wood stove. The living room is carpeted and has a gorgeous Persian rug and comfortable leather couches.

Slate tile floor in kitchen with granite countertops and sunny breakfast nook. Victorian bathroom has heated ceramic tile and a long clawfoot tub with shower and is very pleasing to the eyes.

Lovely outdoor patios with dining areas set among the plants and flowers and hummingbirds. The whole property is a delight to the senses.

A recent comment from an enquirer maybe sums it up best:

** 'The past week I have gone over the VRBO listings for Albuquerque and area repeatedly, and there is no doubt in my mind that your house has the best combination of features, location, and value of any other property. All this is supported by the many glowing comments from previous guests and the fact that yours is in such high demand. And I must add that the photos and presentation(staging) of your house is first rate.' **

Historic Old Town Albuquerque is just 5 minutes away along Rio Grande Blvd full of wonderful restaurants, sight-seeing, shops, galleries and a great spa.

Downtown Albuquerque, convention center, hotels, restaurants less than ten minutes away.

Nature Center, nature trails, bike paths start 5 minutes from the house.

*Hiking on trails in foothills area: 20 minutes from the house.

*Hiking on cool mountain trails: 45 minutes to Sandia Peak.

Guestbook comments from the owner
Hello,

Our stay auto-less went very well. We walked to co-op, Old Town, St.

Clair winery, Botanical Gardens et al at will. We took bus on Central

to grocery, downtown train station [for trip to Sante Fe] and found

bike shop on Gold St. opened for 3 weeks and became their 1st rental

customers; we went on a 35 mile bike excursion. Our only wish would be

that bus on Rio Grande would run more frequently. I'm sure budget

concerns limit this route. All in all we managed on-footedly well.

Thanks for asking.

Kent Johnson

I did most of the renovation work myself and am very proud of the way it turned out. Green features are important to me, so the house has two solar heating systems and a rain harvesting system. I have enjoyed Albuquerque very much, because it combines the amenities of a fairly large city with an abundance of outdoor activities and wilderness within easy reach.

The Owner purchased this house in 2003

Albuquerque is the unsung hero of the south west. It is a wonderfully diverse town with great weather and lots to do. From the majestic 11,000 foot Sandia Mountains to the Rio Grande Valley, you will find friendly laid back people and wonderful local food. The North Valley of Albuquerque is the historic part of town and is very centrally located to access many other areas.

I really like the location of my house. To me it is at the heart of Albuquerque, very close to Old Town and the origins of the city. Many important parts of the city are within 15-20 minutes or less, and yet it feels very private and quiet.

A JEWEL OF A PLACE

  • 5 of 5
Never having used VRBO I was a little trepidatious to book. The owner made it very easy, and my husband and I were thoroughly delighted with this extraordinarily lovely, well-appointed, charming casita. Everything in the home is aesthetically and practically in beautiful condition, and the hidden jewel is Susanna who looks out for the place. She is always ready to be of service,, and added immeasurably to the joy of our stay in Albuquerque! The owner leaves out a detailed description of restaurants. And points of interest, you are near Old Town and the highway. It's a perfect place and we'll go back!

FAR BETTER THAN EXPECTED!

  • 5 of 5
We are a recently retired couple from Minnesota who were looking to get away from our seemingly endless winters. We have traveled fairly extensively, but never used vrbo in the states. Justin "held our hand" and assured us all would be good, boy was he right. We drove down via Memphis, think Elvis and arrived to 70 degrees and sunny weather which stayed with us through out our stay. We did it all ranging from pueblos, museums, day hikes, day trips, hang gliding, fly fishing and restaurant after restaurant. Don't miss the Duran Pharmacy or green chili cheeseburgers at the Owl! " Our" house had everything we needed from a large soaking tub to sharp knives!.The pictures are spot on, but it was even more warm and inviting than we imagined. Susanna immediately became our go to local expert
on where to eat, drink and must see spots, she was wonderful. The entire stay exceeded our expectations and as the Terminator said, " I 'll be back!" Thanks Justin and Susana for a great month. Peace Bruce and Terry

BEST BY FAR

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I have stayed in a few owner managed casitas and apartments in various places. Justin's casita is in a class by itself. We can echo most of the comments made by others. It's a comfortable, well-appointed house. Much more than just a place to sleep.

What we can add is to say how much we appreciated the kitchen that was well-supplied with a wide variety of good quality cookware and utensils. The knives were reasonably sharp. Kitchen water was filtered.

We found basic household tools like screwdrivers and pliers. There were all sorts of cleaning supplies. Stuff which has not been available in other rentals. Obviously, Justin has spent time staying there himself and he has outfitted the place as though his guests actually lived there and were not just passing through.

Susana was welcoming and helpful. We really appreciated her invitation to attend a Dia de los Muertos celebration at a neighbor's house.

We plan to return.

COZY, WARM - GREAT ATTENTION TO DETAIL. NEW MEXICO FLAVOR

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful stay at this lovely casita. We were greeted by hummingbirds and a delightful garden and of course, lovely Susannah who made us feel welcome, but gave us plenty of privacy. We appreciated the attention to detail - this old adobe has a great new mexico flavor. Also, it was great to stay in a place that supports sustainable ideals. The location is ideal, close to Old Town, UNM, and downtown. We'll be back.

CHARMING, COOL & COMFORTABLE!

Charming, Cool & Comfortable!
  • 5 of 5
My husband and I were both doing an art show in Albuquerque and had decided we wanted to stay in a small house or casita as opposed to a hotel room or B&B for freedom and comfort primarily but also because I’d needed to be in Albuquerque for 5 nights. After this experience we are done with hotels & B&B’s in Albuquerque and Casa de Calderones will be our respite from here on out.
Although the photos and information couldn’t be more accurate, upon entering this home it still takes your breath away… Charming! Charming! Charming! The attention to detail and consideration for every possible amenity you could want was so well thought out.
Coming back each day to our very cool and comfortable casita was so refreshing and restful and with the ability to cook in this wonderful and amazingly equipped kitchen it enabled us to feel more like we were on a vacation rather than working.
The location is great and close to most Albuquerque attractions. Justin has made this so charming and comfortable it was really difficult to leave. Susana who watches over things was so nice, available, and very helpful without being intrusive at all. This couldn’t have been a better experience and we are looking forward to returning this Fall.
Thanks so much Justin for sharing your wonderful home with us.

Owner's Response: Thank you Judy and Michael! I am so glad you enjoyed the house as much as you did. I am particularly happy to hear that the house was cool and comfortable because Albuquerque was experiencing some unusually hot weather with temperatures just over 100 F. We look forward to you coming back.

DEFINITELY A TREASURE!

  • 5 of 5
We just returned from a trip to Albuquerque and loved our stay in this wonderful adobe. This is a great house; well equipped with everything you’d want, clean and comfortable – 100% accurate on the description for both property and furnishings. We loved having coffee on the wonderful patio, looking at all the flowers, and again in the early evening having a glass of wine. The garden is just delightful, thanks to Susana – what a sweet and gracious lady!

We would highly recommend this for your stay in Albuquerque.

We did a lot of traveling in the week: Santa Fe, Taos, drove the Enchanted Circle, Wild Rivers Trail [near Questa], walked trails on the Sandia peak, spent time at the Puye Cliff dwellings – and in Albuquerque the Botanical Gardens, especially the butterfly sanctuary.

We found a couple of restaurants that we liked – St. Claire Winery – about 7 minutes from the house, good food, live music, and a delightful outdoor eating area; Church Street – again with a delightful outdoor eating area. We also tried Yanni’s – a Greek restaurant, near the UNM; food so-so and a little overpriced.

Thank you, Justin, for letting us experience your lovely home and thank you, Susanna

Casa de Calderones is in one of the original Albuquerque neighborhoods. It is very close to Old Town with its many attractions, shopping and restaurants. This part of town is very central to a lot of the city and the nearby freeway access makes the city very accessible from here.
