Beautiful cottage and grounds. Gracious owners. Perfect location. Need I say more? My husband and I were at the cottage to visit our son and celebrate our 33rd anniversary. We experienced the Napa earthquake on our first night - the owner was there in minutes with a flashlight. No damage to the cottage, and luckily we had a place to relax and eat for the next couple of days while most restaurants were closed. We could not have stayed anywhere better!!!
Celebrating our 20th anniversary by spending a week at Napa. Cottage Akimbo was perfect!! Just outside of town - nicely secluded. The cottage had everything we needed. The gardens were beautifiul.
Mike delivered fresh eggs to our door. Also had figs, kiwi's, heirloom tomatos, onions, potatos, peppers - what awesome breakfasts! If we make it back to Napa we are definitely staying here. Thanks Mike and Irene
I don't even know where to begin to describe what a wonderful experience it was staying at Akimbo cottage. The cottage is furnished with everything you would ever need, plus some! The pool, the grounds, having all the fresh fruits and vegetables at our disposal. This is the kind of experience that is very unique in that the moment you pull up to the property you know that there's no reason to ever leave!! If we hadn't had things planned to do in Napa and San Francisco, we would have been perfectly content just taking it easy in this little slice of paradise!! The cottage is just far enough out of town to have that country feel, but within a 5 minute drive into Napa!! While you're there, ask Mike directions on how to get to Oxbow Market!! It's a great place to shop and eat. Thank you Mike and Irene. We had a great time!! :~)
Cottage Akimbo was the perfect "home base" for a week in Napa filled with hiking, eating, and wine tasting. The cottage is clean and bright and furnished with everything one needs. Hosts Mike and Irene are gracious and helpful. A truly unique bonus is the garden full of vegetables that we were encouraged to pick (carrots like you've never seen!) , as well as the fresh eggs from the hen house out back. We would come back here in a flash.
We have stayed at many vrbos and I have to say that our experience at the Cottage Akimbo was among the best. We had a wonderful, relaxing week. We loved Mike and Irene, who were on the property but balanced a great mixed of hospitality and gave us a lot of space. We enjoyed our quiet times by the pool. The fresh garden and the peppers were a high light for us. We ended up cooking in more than we had thought because it was so relaxing and so the veggies so fresh. Great location, out of the city bustle, but close enough to run in (maybe 10 minutes). We enjoyed their bikes and took in the beautiful of the valley. All in all...It was excellent. More beautiful than the pictures.
I can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was. My husband and I spent a week in late May. It is a most amazing cottage - the furnishings, the gardens, the serenity (all minutes from Napa although you'd never guess). Especially gracious were the hosts. It is truly a Napa Velley Paradise.
