Overview

Akumal Villa Rental Photos and Description

Villa, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 7-10)

Nido de Amor is a spacious beach front villa with central air conditioning, pool and rooftop deck. The villa features a beautiful garden entry area with patio on the front side and furnished second story balcony and first story terrace on the ocean side. The high quality of materials and workmanship of this villa translate into tropical elegance and creature comforts.

LOCATION: Nido de Amor sets in the gated community of Akumal Sur on the beach of a tranquil Caribbean bay 60 miles south of Cancun in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. This is a beautiful tropical area with turquoise ocean water, swaying palms and white sand beaches. Akumal is noted for extraordinary lagoon snorkeling and spectacular reef and cave scuba diving.

INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE HOUSE: All major rooms in Nido de Amor have terrific views of Akumal bay and the Caribbean. This spacious villa has three bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms and sleeps up to ten people. The master bedroom is on the second floor with a king size bed and beautiful view of the Caribbean. Another bedroom on the second floor has a queen size bed and a beautiful ocean view. Both bedrooms access a large wrap-around furnished balcony. The third bedroom containing a king size bed is on the first floor with a slider to the pool and beach area. Each bedroom has its own private bathroom. There are also two kitchens, 2 living rooms and 2 dining rooms; one on each level of the house. The living room on each floor has a large futon couch that can sleep up to two people each.

THE POOL AND BEACH: An exquisite ocean side swimming pool has a giant tiled turtle inlay and a 9 feet deep end with diving board. The shallow end has a swim-up pool bar with in-the-water tiled seats adjacent to a furnished sun/shade pool deck just off the villa’s living room. Around the corner a bricked and tiled grilling area perfectly situated for pool side cookouts. The pool area is a wonderful playground for lounging around and enjoying this Caribbean paradise. And for beachcombers, the white cool-sand beach of south Akumal is directly in front for strolling, snorkeling and water sports.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hello Verna,

My family and I just returned from your lovely home in Akumal. WOW!!! We had a wonderful vacation. Your house is terrific. We loved the pool and diving board. We have never stayed that close to the ocean. I did about 23 hours of research before we picked a place to stay. I was looking for the perfect place and we found it. I wanted to let you know what a wonderful job Ruth and Abraham are doing. They work soo hard. They are so pleasant. It was so nice to meet Guille. I was sooo sad to leave them all. Guille added such a warm and personal touch to our stay. They are sooo wonderful. We have 3 children and we all loved it there. The snorkeling in front of the house was great. We went to Tulum, Playa del Carmen and Yalku Lagoon. It is a perfect mix of relaxing time and venturing out time. You are sooo fortunate to have such a wonderful get away home.:-) It was a once in a lifetime vacation. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home. Just wanted to let you know how wonderful your staff is and how much we loved it. Thanks !!!

Sincerely,

Vickey

Do yourself a favor and stay here

  • 5 of 5

I travel extensively, and have stayed in VRBO homes in many locations. This one was hard to beat.

My wife and three of our children stayed here for 5 days in April. From the moment you walk through the front door, you are treated to an extraordinary view of lovely pool, framed by the beautiful Caribbean Sea perhaps 10 seconds walk from your sliding doors. We ate our meals (several prepared by the house manager Guille- a reason to visit in her own right) on the perfect table next to the pool and looking out at the Carribean. The pool and sitting area were shaded, which was perfect given the strength of the sun. We could snorkel from shore, and while not phenomenal, we did see a Manta Ray, some small fish, and nice coral formations. There were two kayaks at our disposal as well.

One of the things we liked the most was the number of lovely locations to sit (or lay down) to take advantage of the view. We could hang by the pool, or outside our bedroom on the deck, or travel upstairs to the roof. There were three nice bedrooms with king, king and queen beds, and three futon couches that folded down to sleep a couple more in each, if needed. The kitchen was well equipped. Furnishings were comfortable, not extravagant, and perfect for a beach house. Wifi worked great, as did the sat tv, though we didn't use it.

Perfect location 5 minutes from Akumal Bay, 10 minutes from Tulum, near all the X- parks, and an hour from Coba ruins, which we really enjoyed. I've stayed in some beautiful homes in St. John, the Bahamas, Bermuda, Cozumel, and the intimate view of this home was beyond compare. The owner Verna, was friendly and helpful, putting a cherry on our vacation sundae.

Amazing sunrise

  • 5 of 5

My family (6 in total, including a 12 and a 14 year old and grandparents) had a wonderful stay at Nido de Amor. The home was just as described and the location is great -- close enough to walk 15-20 minutes along the beach to the quaint village of Akumal, but far enough removed from any resorts to provide a private setting. We really enjoyed snorkeling right in front of the house, as well as in the cove in the village of Akumal where you are pretty much guaranteed to see turtles (and more). I watched the sun rise each morning poolside with coffee. Guille is a wonderful on-site manager (and more) and she was always made us feel comfortable and was available to help with anything we needed. We asked Guille to cook a few dinners and a couple breakfasts for us, which were all really good. If you feel bold, ask her to make some habenero hot sauce (but only use a very small amount, trust me...). The pool is great as well -- very large and well maintained. Internet / wifi was intermittent as there was apparently work being done on some of the lines in the area, but that was a minor inconvenience in the scheme of things. We had an amazing stay at Nido de Amor and hope to be back again soon.

WOW; unbeatable

  • 5 of 5

The pictures do not do this place justice and simply cannot, since a big part of the enjoyment is experiencing all the advantages of this home's location and the incredible people who support and service your stay. LOCATION< LOCATION< LOCATION. First and last rule of a great vacation for a large family. We had 84 year old grandpa; and family of 6, kids: 12, 10. 7, 4. There was still comfortably room for another family of 4-6 and no chance we would have gotten in each others way. The pool had depth, size, and convenience unlike any villa we have stayed in; not some miniature kidney bean, token pool, but a big, play a lot, cool down, family fun pool with diving board, bar stools and plenty of toys to keep everyone occupied. The beach is sandy underfoot and soft to walk onto and groomed daily and very private at the opposite end of the stretch that leads to Akumal town after a half hour stroll. Quiet, paved, guarded lane gets you to this impressive ro of villas and you feel more modern and secure than staying at Tankah and beaches further south, but without any loss of romance and paradise. Tulum is a 10 minute drive and everything natural (and not just touristy/commercial) is between the house and there, including the best cents, open lagoons, cave snorkeling/diving, jungle excursions and white, sugary powdery sand meet turquoise water seascapes. Of course its terrific for ruins at Coba, which are unhurried and uncrowded and immersed in jungle or the obligatory Tulum ruins (which one must hit early before the buses from Cancun overrun the place). Everything needed is there and whatever you suspect may not be then Guille, the house manager who lives in the adjacent casita and is always available on call, will ensure you have it immediately. She is a treasure and along with Moises, the groundskeeper and Ruth, the housekeeper, they work seamlessly in the background, almost unnoticeably to constantly ensuring the house is in royal condition and you feel like a royal family on your visit. We were so spoiled and in awe of just watching stars and sunrises/sunsets against the silhouette of enormous swaying palms and beautiful flora that surrounded the house. The consistent breeze kept us cool and windows open allowed us to fall asleep to the ocean gently lapping 50 yards from the villa. WOW.

heaven

  • 5 of 5

My sisters and i spent a week at this Villa and loved every minute. the villa is large, clean, beautiful and well appointed with everything you need. soft beach towels, kayaks. Sweet housekeepers. And a very safe neighborhood. I recommend you rent a car to visit Akumal Village. The water is shallow and perfect for kids. If you can have a meal cooked for you and you will have enough leftovers for the next day. I cant wait to return to this quiet, peaceful lovely Villa. Verna was so wonderful to work with and answered all my annoying questions!

Longing to return

  • 5 of 5

It has been two years since our vacation at Nido de Amor and here I am finishing a month long vacation in Hawaii and longing to go back to Akumal. After staying at Nido de Amor all vacation rentals are compared and nothing I have experienced lives up to the idyllic setting that the Akumal villa provides.

We have stayed at Nido de Amor twice and each time the accommodations were perfect. From the spacious house, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, gorgeous garden, wonderful pool and beachfront setting. I am spoilt for life.

I highly recommend this stay.

Thank you and all the best

Karen
