This holiday home is in a superb location, nestled between the mountain and the sea with front and rear views of the Atlantic Ocean. It is a traditional style house on it's own site with beautiful garden , patio area and garden furniture. Ballinskelligs blue flag beach is just a three minute walk away with the local shop, pub and restaurant a five minute walk away.the ground floor has two bedrooms, one with double bed and one with two singles. There is also a living room, bathroom and kitchen on the ground floor. Upstairs is a gallery leading onto a large sitting room and master bedroom with en-suite facilities.

Ballinskeligs is a quiet peaceful countryside just off the famous Ring of Kerry. The nearby towns are Caherciveen and Waterville(famous for magnificent 18 hole golf club) and each is these are just a 15 minutes drive away. The long sandy beach is a haven for all ages and its blue flag status makes is safe for all members of the family. Visit the local chocolate factory where you can witness the famous chocolates being made and then sample these delicious delights. A visit to the Cill Rialaig famine village and artists is a must where you can meet artists from all over the world working on their masterpieces. Horse riding, canoeing and wind surfing are just a few of the local amenities. Take a trip to a famous Skellig Rock or take in some anglinig in the safe waters. Ballinskelligs pier with safe mooring facilities are nearby. All in all, you will not be bored in this truly blissful and wonderful countryside of Ballinskelligs and you will go home totally refreshed.

Fishing / Golf -Within ten miles there is superb fresh water fishing in Waterville lake where wild salmon and sea trout are landed . There is superb sea angling all along the coast and boats can be hired locally. There is a world renowned Links course in Waterville and other golf courses in the area include Dooks, Beaufort, Kenmare and Killarney. Day Trips -The beautiful Ring of Kerry is a must. Visit Valentia slate quarry, from where natural slate is sent all over the world. Sample the delights at the Skellig Chocolate factory or visit Dingle penninsula where you might get to swim with Fungi the Dolphin. Tralee and Killarney are great shopping towns and they are just an hour away. Eating Out -You will be spoiled for choice no matter what your taste or budget. There is an amazing array of cafes, pub restaurants and gourmet restaurants with the local speciality being fresh seafood, caught and landed during the daytime and cooked to perfection for you that night.

Beach & Mountain Get Away

We have just returned from our third visit to Fuschia Cottage, Ballinskelligs with our six year old son and Millie the dog.

The house is just perfect, clean, spacious with large secure garden. The kitchen is very well equiped, so home cooking was on the menu and there is a utility room with washing machine and dryer which is an excellent addition. The beds are very comfortable and we all slept like logs - maybe it was the sea air! All the ingredients to make a "real" fire are provided.

Its location is perfect, minutes walk from beautiful Ballinskelligs Beach with its ruined castle and graveyard to be explored and adorable cafe to enjoy a coffee after a couple of hours exploration. Reenroe Beach, walkers paradise is a short drive away, as is Waterville. Ballinskelligs Chocolate Factory is well worth a visit as are the cliffs just futher on.

An information folder with useful telephone numbers and information on the area is provided and there are plenty of information leaflets on things to do nearby.

Horse riding on the beach in Caherdaniel (Eagle Rock Stables) and in Rossbeigh (Burke's Activity Centre) was exhilarating!

We would have no hesitation in recommending this property for a get away from it all, family holiday and we are already planning our next escape!

We are very satisfied with our tour in Ireland!
We visited Cliffs of Moher, Burren, Valentia Island, Ring of Kerry, Killarney and many other places : they are all beautiful! The typical Irish landscape is spectacular: on the one side there is the ocean on the other the mountains with alpine flora! There is a wonderful contrast of colours in the sky.
We cannot visited the Skelligs because the sea conditions were not good....we hope to visit them another time!!!
Your holiday home is very nice, quiet and confortable.
We found it very clean and equipped.

Our best Home Away rental experience

We just got back from 4-nights at the Fuschia cottage and couldn't be happier with our stay. I have rented several residences in the USA and Ireland through the Home Away site. Much like reserving a hotel room online it can be a hit and miss experience. The Fuschia cottage has been the best of these. We found Des to be a very gracious host.

Probably most importantly (especially with a wife and two daughters) it was clean and everything worked as it should. It was very convenient to have two bathrooms and a full kitchen. Having a laundry room with washer & dryer was a major benefit as well. As the first reviewer mentioned, the cottage has an additional living area with TV upstairs as well as the master bedroom & bath. This is great as the kids can have their own space if they like.

We found the location to be perfect for us. The beach in Ballinskelligs is fantastic and even has a castle ruin for the kids to explore. It is a tiny town but does have a nice pub & cafe. There is a gas station locally with groceries. Additional shops and a proper grocery store are a 20-min. drive away in Waterville.

The boat trip to the Skellig islands was the highlight of our Ireland trip. There is a single boat that leaves daily from the Ballinskelligs pier. One thing that I hadn't seen mentioned elsewhere was that this is the only enclosed Skellig boat. The multiple boats from Portmagee & Waterville are all open (with passengers getting soaked with cold surf for an hour each way).

From the cottage we also were able to devote a day each to the Ring of Kerry, Skellig ring, and Dingle peninsula. After our stay at the cottage we spent 3-days in County Clare. Looking back on it I wish we would have spent more time in Ballinskelligs. We will definitely be staying in the Fuschia cottage again should be return to Ireland. It is exceptional and also a great value.

A happy week in Ballingskellig

We are a family of four, (the boys were 10 and 12yrs old ), and came with another couple to stay at this lovely house.
The weather was great, the countryside was awesome and the locals very friendly. We loved the laid back approach.

The house was clean, tidy and suited our needs. With 2 sitting rooms, the two boys played happily without disturbing us oldies. They took their own playstation so were content if the weather took a turn for the worse..which happily it didn't. The beach, only 5 minute walk away was were we would all go at the end of our day. A huge, clean beach with a lovely ruin. The sea was pretty cold, but with wet suits and an inflatable raft we had a ball!!
The kitchen had all what we needed to prepare meals for us all, and it was great to be able to wash your clothes in a clean laundry room.
Lots of books available, maps and information. Beds very comfortable and very pleasant decor. The balconys were great to look out from in the evening. Both showers and the bath were also of good quality. Lots of wardrobe space.
The garden has a BBQ and an outside bench table, and also an outside shower to rinse off all the sand.(Very useful!!) French windows from both lounge and kitchen lead onto the patio area. Plenty of parking and we took all our push bikes and they were safe left at the back of the house.
We took lots of fantastic photographs, and had such a brilliant time that we are returning to the owners other cottage this May 2009.

Far away from all - We like it!!!

In May 2008 we spent our first holidays in Fuchsia. Everything was great. The house, our host, the village, the countryside and even the weather. So we decided to come back in June 2009. It was a good decision.
We did some walks e.c to Bolus head, where you can overlook the peninsula,
strolled along nice beaches and visited historical sites and villages. In Cahirsiveen we bought delicious food (fresh fish and lamb).
We enjoyed our holidays again and we can really recommend Fuchsia and Ballinskelligs
