Golf:
The Atlantic Beach Golf Club is next door to La Paloma. The qualifiers for the European Open were held at this course. It is spread along the coast and is set within a secure residential estate. Temporary golf passes can be arranged at the club house. There are numerous other good golf courses all around the Cape Town area.
Stellenbosch:
South Africa's famous winelands are centred around Stellenbosch, an historic university town some 40 minutes drive away from Blouberg. Organised tours of the wineries can be arranged. Otherwise, visitors can spend a leisurely day driving from estate to estate, sampling the produce and discovering new favourites along the way. No tour of the wineries would be complete without a lunchtime stop in Franschoek, acknowledged as the gastronomic epicentre of the Cape. If driving, remember to save the serious tasting for back in Blouberg as South Africa's drink driving laws are just as tough as at home!
Cape Town:
So much has been written about this cosmopolitan town that suffice to say, there is something here for everyone. We love its fabulous and vibrant restaurants, exceptional shopping and unique cultural experiences. Our not-to-b-missed favourites include:
Eating: Balducci's Japanese salad at the Waterfront and Madam Zingara's chocolate chilli steaks on Long Street.
Robben Island: the infamous prison where Nelson Mandela was held is a day trip away by boat.
Other Activities:
Wildlife/game reserves, winelands
