As a guest at The Whaler for over 20 years, I wanted my own 'home-away-from home'. The Whaler condominium property is unique in that it is on Maui's #1 beach, and has great new tennis courts. Right outside your doorstep you will find the location to be convenient for golf, restaurants, and world class shopping next door at Whalers Village, which also has an ABC convenience market. The great snorkel beach at Black Rock is just steps away. The Whaler Condo/Hotel with front desk services, activities/concierge service, business center, bell desk, gym, sauna, and salon, meets every travelers needs.
Wonderfully upgraded, totally remodeled and designer furnished, with a great intimate lanai and a spectacular view of Black Rock.
During winter months, you can watch the whale migration from your lanai.
The full size kitchen is a pleasure to work in, with the ocean reflected in the mirror wall.
Our 1st time to Maui was made all the better by a great place to stay. We found the condo to be in excellent condition with a modern kitchen, very comfortable bed and lovely view. The Whalers is located just North of Lahaina with an easy drive into town. The beach walk is the walk is the best.
I have been coming to the Whalers Condos now for about 6 years, and this is the first time I have had my own space. WOW,WOW. I so enjoyed it. Everything was beautiful, the kitchen had everything you could need, the towels were very nice and plenty of them. The linens were top notch. The view of black rock is fantastic. This of course was my opinion. I was so happy with the condo and location, that I am coming back next year and the years after as long as I can. Just down right the best. Thank you for sharing your piece of heaven.
I have been coming to Hawaii for over 10 years, it is my place to relax and rejuvenate. The condo is perfect after a day of exploring the island or going to the beach. The owner has been very thoughtful in providing full kitchen equipment, beautiful linens, fluffy towels and high end furnishings. Had a wonderful trip...this place is a winner! I recommend it to anyone who wants to stay on Maui. Mahalo
My fiancé and I stayed here for 10 days in April 2014. We had a fabulous stay in this apartment. It was updated and clean with a well-equipped kitchen. The bed was super comfortable and it just felt very inviting. We loved the view from the lanai and spent many evenings watching the sunset out there. The whaler doesn't have many amenities (just a basic pool and hot tub area) but the staff was very nice and the grounds were always clean. You can walk from this apartment five minutes along the ocean and you're at Whaler's Village where there are some great restaurants and shops. The restaurants are expectedly touristy, but the view and ease is worth it. We rented a car and loved having this place as our home base. Kaanapali Beach is amazing and I would definitely recommend staying in this area--especially at this apartment!
The condo was great, beautiful view both directions, ocean & mountains.
Condo came equipped with almost everything you would need. Umbrella (broken) only 1 sand chair and a couple boogie boards.Hair dryer was also broken.
Kitchen fully equipped. Condo decorated nicely and very clean. Bed very comfy.
Regarding location, Whalers Village was great! Absolutely beautiful beach, pool area nice. We never needed a car except when we went zip lining (rode with relatives). At first really wanted to stay at a resort, dining, bar etc. but Whalers Village is right next door with wonderful restaurants and bar areas, loved Hula Grill! Sneak over to the Westin wonderful pool area (they don't check room keys)
Now the down side...
Owner not helpful at all. I had lots of family staying at the condo's and the owners of their condo's helped with recommendations, suggestions etc, I never got an email back after twice asking for suggestions, guess not her job, but would have been nice, maybe she could just write a generic one to send out...
The worst thing....The building next door is low so does not block your views of black rock which is great, BUT their air conditioning units ran non stop and were VERY loud! We could not leave our slider open and sitting on the patio was SOOOO noisy; humming and vibrating, ugh! Luckily we were gone alot, but evening and mornings so disappointing not to sit on balcony for coffee or a glass of wine....
I know the condo owner couldn't do anything about that, but I wouldn't stay there again due to the noise (our family stayed on the court yard side and was sooo peaceful).
The condo was very reasonably priced for what you get, it is a beautiful unit.

A studio with a fabulous view! The whaler is in a great location right on the beach and close to all the activities offered in Kaanapali.
The studio itself has an attractive kitchen but two days in to my 3 week stay the stove stopped working and never got fixed. The bathroom as a previous reviewer stated is tired. The location of the unit is right beside the elevators so you do get to hear your neighbors coming and going. Generally a nice unit and very clean,Maui regular but not quite as nice as the writeup had me thinking it would be.
Kaanapali Beach has fantastic snorkeling in the Bay of Black Rock, in front of the Sheraton Hotel to the North. The beach is Maui's #1 beach and one of the 10 best beaches in the world. Walk to Whalers Village shopping center and restaurants next door on the South side of Tower 2. From our super most private location on the North side of Tower 1, we do not have cooking smells from the restaurants, nor the very early morning trash and delivery trucks to Whalers Village.
