Why Meggie Righton chose Greenville

We have enjoyed the beauty of Indian Valley for over 30 years visiting family in this area. We came across this little house on one visit in 2001 and began the process spending many hours creating a home we could enjoy with our family, friends and now you. We hope those of you who choose to visit this little house will get the same enjoyment in these beautiful mountains as we have.

Greenville rental has everything

  • 5 of 5
We rented this property to visit my family in Greenville. We have 3 kids so the size was perfect and the doors made it easy to on-the-go childproof. It is walking distance from the main part of Greenville. There is a small lawn area out back but you should keep an eye on the kids near the road. We did not need to bring as much stuff as we did. The house was stocked with everything one could need. Thank you for the lovely stay.

This little house is perfect for a weekend get away!

  • 5 of 5
We loved our stay at this charming cabin in Greenville. We have had the pleasure of renting it a couple of times and found it to be perfect. My husband fished locally and I sat on the front porch reading and enjoying the view. The house is within walking distance to shopping and dining. The accommodations are totally complete. The owner is most helpful. The cabin is very comfortable... neat and clean, light and bright! We will be returning!

Owner's Response: Many Thanks Ann! We work very hard to keep the place as comfortable and clean as possible. We have wonderful property managers who are on top of things and are a blessing in its care.

Wonderful Cottage

  • 5 of 5
I brought my 80+ year old mother up for her first visit to the Sierras in many, many years and had a wonderful time in this cute, comfy cottage in a quaint little town. It is all that you see in the pictures and description and more, and a great place for a quiet little get away.

Highly Recommend

  • 5 of 5
I've stayed at this cute and cozy Greenville cottage twice, in the summer of 2010 and in the summer of 2011. I did not submit reviews previously but I've recently been trying to find a rental in Utah and I realized how helpful it is when renters submit reviews. Here are some things future renters might want to know. Home is clean and photos on VRBO accurately represent the house and property. Off site owner is very responsive to questions and has a property manager living close by who is also very responsive. Within walking distance to grocery store and restaurants. House sits right on street with no sidewalks. Even though speed limit on the street is just 25 mph it's necessary to keep a close eye on children and dogs when getting in and out of car. House does get very warm on hot summer afternoons and evenings. I closed the blinds during the day and used the ceiling fans but when there were a couple 90 degree days in a row I had trouble keeping the house comfortable. I didn't use the kitchen as much as I normally would have because I didn't want the stove or oven to add more heat to the house. If I were to recommend a change it would be to plant some large trees that could shade the house (a long term solution) put more energy efficient blinds on the windows and install either an attic fan that could quickly cool off the house at night or a single window air conditioner. There is a train line that runs through Greenville and one can hear the train during the night however, this house is a bit away from the train tracks and after a couple nights I didn't notice it anymore. There's a great walking/biking trail at Lake Almanor (just 15 minutes away) and the larger town of Chester is about a 25 minute drive. There are lots of other outdoor activities in the area and the drive through the Feather River Canyon is spectacular. On my first visit I used the free internet at the library which is within walking distance and I picked up some inexpensive used books at the library's ongoing used book sale. On my second visit the owner had internet access install (wired access). AT&T cell phone gets better reception in Greenville than at my house in the S.F. Bay Area but Virgin cell phones do not get any reception. One last thing - the stairwell to the basement washer/dryer is steep and there is not a light switch at the top of the stairs - only at the bottom.

Very Nice.

  • 5 of 5
This place is really quite sweet. Its an older cottage that has been completely renovated with wood floors and kitchen. There are lots of nice little details that reminded me of staying at a bed & breakfast inn. (Some of the nick-nacks may seem a little frilly for a guy, but I think a woman would really enjoy them.)
It's more open and airey than the pictures seem to show with good lighting and a pleasant feeling. Big screen TV for DVD's. (minimal cable service.) GREAT kitchen which has almost anything you need (blender, toaster, microwave, big oven and big fridge.)
Owners were quite helpful and made sure I had everything I needed. If something is missing, they will likely help you get it.
Big basement which came in handy for the extra gear I travel with.
I've checked out three other locations (one of which I reviewed) in Greenville and this is the only one I recomend.
Although it is right in town, its still kind of at the edge of town and has a nice view from the porch.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We try to make it home away from home in a beautiful part of the Sierra's.
