Overview

Santa Fe Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 4 Baths, (Sleeps 6-9)

This classic mountain cabin near Santa Fe, in a canyon with a creek surrounded by the National Forest, is one of the finest properties of its kind in the Rocky Mountain West. Constructed of antique hand-hewn oak beams, wide-planked floors, and aged-wood ceilings, yet offering modern amenities such as silent radiant floor heat and hi-speed Wi-Fi Internet access, it is the only property of its kind and quality for vacation rentals within moderate driving distance (20 to 30 minutes)of downtown Santa Fe.

NORMALLY ONLY AVAILABLE NOVEMBER THROUGH MARCH.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE STANDARD NIGHTLY RATE QUOTED IS FOR TWO PEOPLE. THE RATE FOR THREE OR FOUR IS $250, AND AND THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL $25 CHARGE FOR EACH ADDITIONAL PERSON.

A separate guest cabin with separate small kitchen and is joined to the main cabin by a covered porch. Altogether, the property sleeps up to nine people in three separate bedrooms with beds and private baths, living room with sofa bed and its own private bath, and guest cabin main room with cot.

The property is available November through February (possibly late October and early March some years). The final 2.5 miles of Forest Service road to the property is unpaved. FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE IS RECOMMENDED AT TIMES. CALL. Snow plowing is provided by the owners.

Cell phone service is spotty in the cabin but usually working outside on most networks. Your cell phone number can be forwarded to the cabin phone, and free long distance with an agreed-on cap is available.

Though the Forest Service Road to the cabin continues to the Santa Fe Ski Basin, it is closed in winter just past the cabin. Driving time to the Santa Fe Ski Basin is over an hour. You can have someone drop you off at the top of the road where it joins the ski basin road and ski the six miles down to the cabin from there (best with cross country skis but possible with downhill skis, a good amount of poling).

The best getaway cabin ever!

  • 5 of 5

George and Donna have done a superb job of providing a unique and comfortable setting for rest and relaxation. The peaceful stream, beautiful natural forest and "homey" cabin create an atmosphere that refreshes one's soul. This destination has also provided a special place for our family to make many cherished memories during the Christmas holidays for several years.

Wonderfully Unique and Memorable!

  • 5 of 5

Everything in and about the cabin is so lovingly selected and perfectly suited that my two friends and I went about exclaiming and sharing the whole week we were there. It was such a warm, comfortable, happy place that we only reluctantly ventured away from our January fires. But, as an added benefit, George and Donna Amos were pleased to share their extensive appreciation of the area and guided us, often via special drives, on delightful adventures with historical and Native American significance, even took in a real live cowboy bar in another town. Each time, we were glad to come back to our own idyllic cabin in the woods.

A slice of heaven...

  • 5 of 5

What an incredible setting! The description says it all: it really is a "Storybook" cabin and really is "Surrounded by National Forest". Kudos to Donna and George for creating such a delightful getaway as well as for truth in advertising. My family has been blessed to enjoy this picturesque cabin on several occasions and each time is better than the next. Whether you're grilling up a feast in the meadow in summer or sledding down the hill in winter, this is the perfect mountain vacation spot.

Pictures do NOT do this cabin justice!

  • 5 of 5

WOW! Pure excitement and amazement as we pulled up to a little slice of heaven that we would call home for a week. For YEARS, my husband has always wanted to give us a white Christmas. I thought he was going to cry when we walked into the cabin! They had the cabin completely decorated for us for Christmas and the owners make you feel like you are a part of their family. The cabin and the views were breathtaking. With such a large lot, we were able to put skis on and literally practice in our own front yard. We are already planning our next stay! This is the ONLY cabin we will stay at in Santa Fe!!

Best Time Ever!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed in this phenomenal cabin last summer, and I can't emphasize enough just how much fun we had!!

We were a bit nervous booking online, but the owners were so easy to work with, and all that they told us, along with the pictures from their website, was spot on. From the beautiful drive through the foothills and into the National Forest, to the private setting as the last cabin before the Forest lands begin, to the beautiful creek in the front yard - it was awesome!!

The cabin is in the most picturesque valley imaginable, with what feels like your own private stream right in the front yard. The cabin itself is seen only peeking out through the alpine trees, and we were blown away at the setting. Inside, the owners have immaculately decorated it, from top to bottom, however it is done in such a way as to be incredibly inviting, and we felt right at home there with our 3 kids. We enjoyed hikes from the cabin, reading outside along the creek, eating dinner outside in the cool mountain air, sleeping with the windows open to the crisp temperatures - it was so relaxing, and such a welcome break from our muggy New Orleans summers.

We also enjoyed the close proximity to downtown Santa Fe, where we ditched the kids and wandered in and out of galleries and cafes, just soaking in the relaxed Santa Fe atmosphere.

We can't wait to go back to this incredible "Storybook Cabin", and look forward to booking it again - maybe in winter next time to enjoy the snow and all that winter brings to northern New Mexico.

All in all, if you are looking for an awesome setting to enjoy family time, or want a beautiful romantic get-away, my wife and I would HIGHLY recommend this property - you will not be disappointed!!

We enjoyed this beautiful cabin

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful comfortable cabin and surroundings. We particularly enjoyed the solitude of the mountain area, trees, and the flowing stream across the property. One of the most relaxing places I have ever been, and we will return next year. Donna & George Amos were very nice and helpful with information concerning where to go and what to see in the area.
