Old world charm in the heart of Paris!
Come and stay in our gorgeous, sunny and quiet 2-bedroom apartment on the top floor of a classic old Paris building, just yards from the fabulous rue Mouffetard street market in Paris’ wonderful 5th arrondissement.
The apartment has all the typical Paris features you could dream of: hardwood floors, molded ceilings, marble fireplaces, full-length windows and small balconies at every window. Because it is at the top, it is incredibly bright and sunny on both sides, with open aspects to the back, a through breeze on hot days, and no neighbors walking about above your head! And yes, there is a lift to whizz you up there.
It has been fully remodeled by a wonderful architect, who preserved all the old features, added some fabulous touches of his own, and installed a level of comfort rarely found in Paris rental properties. The spacious sitting room gets the morning sun, while the kitchen is a joy, with all that you need to produce gourmet meals. The apartment comes fully-equipped: dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, ceiling fans, and power shower. Phone calls to US and most European landlines are free, and there is a PC with broadband internet access (or wi-fi access if you want to bring your own laptop).
The apartment is on a quiet street, but right in the middle of a bustling neighborhood with an abundance of cafés and restaurants, shops and cinemas. We are just a stone’s throw from the rue Mouffetard, a classic Parisian street – narrow and cobble-stoned, it is host to a daily fresh produce market. We are also just minutes from the Pantheon, la Sorbonne, Notre Dame, the Seine, the Jardin du Luxembourg and the Jardin des Plantes.
This is our home too. Until recently it was our full-time family home, and has a lovely warm feel to it – we left it with great reluctance, and return whenever possible. You will be greeted and welcomed by a professional, English speaking hostess who will accommodate your every need while in Paris. Be our guests!
Our family lived in this fabulous apartment for 20 years, first as tenants and then as owners. We absolutely love it, and especially the friendly and bustling neighborhood - everything is within minutes of the front door.
We left Paris for family reasons, but all our family and friends insisted we hold on to the flat as the 'perfect Paris apartment'!!

This apartment is filled with light, elegantly and comfortable furnished with everything you need for a holiday in Paris. The central location means you can walk to all the sights and the locality is filled with interesting markets, restaurants and shops. We had a week with our teenage son in the Spring and had a wonderful time. The apartment is so comfortable it was often a tear to stumble across the road to the fantastic baker for great bread, crossiants and pattisserie - we did manage though as our waistlines can testify. Recommended without reservation.
We have stayed in a lot of apartments in Paris over the years. And this is by far the best! The neighborhood is great. The apartment is big, roomy, sunny, well furnished, comfortable beds, appliances that work—everything you could hope for. The owner is a wonderful person to do business with. You can't go wrong.
We couldn't have been more pleased with our decision to stay in Clarissa's apartment. Arrangements were easy thanks to prompt and thorough communication. Upon arrival we were greeted with a welcome basket, which was much appreciated after our long trip, and so thoughtful of our host. This was just one of the many touches she thought of to make our stay enjoyable.
The apartment was equipped with everything for a comfortable stay - including comfortable beds - not always a given in Paris! We slept well thanks to that, as well as the dark drapes and quiet location. The apartment is impeccable, and Clarissa provided loads of beautiful crisp linens. A late night convenience store is just down the street, and during the day the Rue Mouffetard shops have every kind of French delicacy you could want. The wifi, guide books, blow dryer, and washer/dryer were all nice to have. The living/dining room provided a nice space for our family of 4 to start and end our day. Rue Brocca is in a safe area and only a short walk to the metro.
A highlight of our stay was dancing in the street to French music on Rue Mouffetard at noon on Sunday! Singers, musicians and dancers congregate there every Sunday at noon, and young and old alike join in the dancing! We immediately felt part of the neighborhood community, and the whole ambiance exuded a joie de vivre! It is quite something to watch, but even better to take a spin on the cobblestone to the strains of the accordion and Edith Piaf-like singers. Something not to be missed!

When we go on holiday, we want to be at home but somewhere else. Le Soleil du Mouffetard provided just such a stay. From walking in the door and finding hooks on which to hang your coat, to the well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, power shower and plenty of towels and then discovering well stocked book shelves and a generous welcome basket, we immediately felt truly at home. Yoli met us as arranged and helped us settle in, for which we thank her.
Excellent information provided by the owner and the website is completely accurate. Whether it is your first visit to Paris or you have been many times before, the flat is ideally situated. You are within easy reach of the centre of Paris by bus or by Metro and you can walk to the Jardin des Plantes or the Luxembourg Gardens for a relaxing afternoon stroll. The rue Mouffetard will cater for all your food shopping with a wide choice of cafés and restaurants as well.
I would recommend this flat without hesitation and we would make it our first choice if we return to Paris.
Great flat in the 5th district, well located close to the famous Mouffetard market, or rather a long winding street of small shops. (The more classic market is located off Rue Monge only a few blocks away and open Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday) Everything in this flat just works so well, the two bedrooms are well lit, comfortable beds, quality linens, ample closet space, bonus office space in the larger bedroom. Living/dining room works well, again light and airy. For added excitement you can step out onto the tiny (I mean tiny) balconies (each room has them, even the bathroom) and look out over the neighboring rooftops - I recommend holding on tight to the railing, 7 floors up is higher than you think! Bathroom is a delight, replete with large tub and drenching shower. I would avoid excessively long showers though, because the hot water will run out. Stacked washer dryer takes care of the laundry duties. Galley kitchen is small but works well with sufficient pots and pans for all normal cooking chores, although with all the fantastic food shopping options around you might find it more of a joy not a chore. If you tire of dining in, restaurant choices abound, I can recommend the mavrommatis locations which include two Greek cuisine dining locations as well as a storefront all very close by. The Vietnamese/Thai at the door to the building also proved very tasty, one block over La Forge offered reliable french cuisine with excellent service. As far as breakfast goes, a short walk up Mouffetard will get you croissants to die for (we ended up preferring the almond kind so try them too), and we never had a bad loaf of bread, from random picks to the ever present baguettes.
In term of proximity to the Paris sights, Jardin de Plantes is within medium walking distance, only a little further is the St. Germain area and you can walk to Notre Dame if you want, although we found the #27 bus to be the go to public transport option, even if only used to connect to the RER (regional Rail) We did use metro a little although the two nearest stations are not well connected, you'll have to change at a major hub station to get on the other metro lines.
Our family of four had a fantastic time staying at this apartment and exploring Paris this summer! I would return in a heart-beat and hope I do, sooner than later!
Everything we needed, and more. The bathroom was one of the largest I had while on our one month trip in Europe. What a luxury! Kitchen had everything and it was clean and bright. We relaxed in the living room and read our books and drank our coffee and enjoyed bakery treats from the bakery across the street. Washer and Dryer were very helpful as well. Watched the lightening from the bedroom and listened to the thunder at night, but had gorgeous weather during the days to explore one of the best cities in the world. Easy access to the Metro and restaurants and my boys (8 and 11) loved the comic book store across the street! The place is definitely well cared for and it shows. I look forward to staying in this apartment on our next visit to Paris. Thank you for sharing your wonderful place with us!
