The Green Cottage is a private vacation home nestled beneath live oaks and magnolias in downtown Ocean Springs. The cottage is within short walking distance of restaurants, shops, grocery, and harbors and is about 100 yards from the Inner Harbor Park, which has public tennis courts, a boardwalk for bird watching and fishing, and a gazebo for picnicking. From here you can launch your canoe or kayak for paddling around the harbor or out to nearby Deer Island. World famous Shearwater Pottery is just beyond the harbor, a pleasant walk from the cottage down a live-oak-lined street and across the little Outer Harbor bridge, a distance of about a quarter mile. The internationally renown Walter Anderson Museum of Art is six blocks away, and the new Frank Gehry-designed George Ohr Museum is just across the bay bridge in Biloxi.
The fishing is great. You can bring your own boat (there's room in the driveway) and launch it from the free public boat ramp at the outer edge of the harbor (less than a mile away) or arrange for a fishing charter or a private guide to take you out to nearby Horn and Ship islands, part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore wilderness area, The National Seashore museum, picnic areas, and Park Service boat launch are about two miles away. The Biloxi Bay Bridge with its pedestrian walkway and bicycle path is about a mile away, a perfect place for sunsets. The Gulf Hills Golf Club is about two miles away, and there are others in nearby Biloxi and Gautier.
The cottage has a very private screened porch looking out at live oaks, sago palms, and camellias. The porch furniture includes a rocker, an old-fashioned glider, chaises, and dining table and chairs. This is a great place to enjoy the morning bird symphony. The house is newly remodeled and has porcelain tile throughout with Oriental and Mexican rugs. The kitchen is well furnished for people who like to cook and entertain. A bi-weekly farmers market in nearby Biloxi provides fresh vegetables year-round, and the Ocean Springs Saturday market offers organic produce, local food specialties, and live music.
Ocean Springs is the oldest French settlement on the Gulf Coast, founded in 1699 by the LeMoyne brothers, the younger of whom later went on down the coast to found New Orleans. It’s a town of live oaks, magnolias, small shops, and art galleries and contrasts sharply with the condos and casinos to the west. Visitors come for bird-watching, fishing, uncrowded family beaches, and to visit the Walter Anderson Museum of Art and Shearwater Pottery. Biloxi casinos are two miles away. Beaches are a mile away, restaurants, grocery, shops, and bars are half a mile or less. This is a great town for bicycling and walking. New Orleans is about 90 miles away, an easy day trip; Keesler Air Force Base, 12 miles; and Mobile and Dauphin Island, 50 miles.
The house is somewhat handicapped-accessible through the screened porch (one step of about four inches in each doorway). The bathroom won’t accommodate a wheelchair, but a walker is fine. The two bedrooms and one bathroom open onto the same small hall, so the bathroom is just a few steps from the bedrooms. The second bedroom is in the den, close to the living area and kitchen.
The house is located in an old, established residential neighborhood, and my neighbors value their quiet and privacy. Please no loud parties or noisy gatherings, and please park only in the driveway, which will accommodate three or four cars parked carefully. There is no on-street parking. Although I don't normally take pets, I make exceptions. Please check with me in advance if you have a small dog (under 20 lbs).
I ACCEPT PAYPAL or personal checks. Please note maximum occupancy of four and restrictions regarding smoking.

I'm a New Orleans native living in Atlanta, and I spend as much time as possible in Ocean Springs. I enjoy meeting my vacation renters, who come from all over the world.
Rosemarie Perrin purchased this cottage in 1995
There's something magical about Ocean Springs. I bought the house within 48 hours of my first visit to the town.
I enjoy the beautiful, green surroundings, the quiet, the friendly neighbors, proximity to the Gulf and to the little harbors and the wildlife there, the art and pottery community, and morning coffee on on the front porch. My favorite walks are across Biloxi bridge or along East Beach at sunset.
We had a wonderful 2-month stay at the Green Cottage. It was our fourth visit to Ocean Springs and our second visit to this cottage. Walks to East Beach were a daily event. Downtown is nearby as well. The house is comfortable and the screened porch is wonderful. We opened all the windows and reveled in our luck to have escaped the north in winter. You can cook because everything that you might need is provided or you can enjoy many great places to eat. We recommend Kwitzky's for drinks, Maison d'Lu for lunch and the Porter St. Bistro for dinner. In Biloxi ,go to the Half Shell for raw oysters and be sure to support the local artists at the Art House in Ocean Springs and Studio 782 in Biloxi . Walk the bridge, meet the people -- it's a great place. You will find the owner, Rosemarie, hospitable and accommodating and if you're lucky, the local turtles will visit you at the back door. We highly recommend.
We really enjoyed staying at the Kensington cottage. It was so clean and homey. Everything, and I mean everything, was supplied for our use. The neighborhood was quiet, making it perfect for relaxing. Even the backyard was secluded making it a good place to relax and just listen to the birds.
Even though the weather was a little cool, we still managed to get out and golf a couple times at nearby courses, as well as explore the area around Ocean Springs and Biloxi. We were never at a loss for things to go do or see.
If our plans include Ocean Springs in the future, we will check on the availability of the Kensington cottage first.
We've enjoyed previous winter stays in Ocean Springs, initially as volunteers following the Katrina Disaster and this is our first stay in Rosemarie's Kensington neighborhood home. We not only enjoyed the home and all it had to offer us, along with our 2 older spoiled doxies, but loved the friendly-family oriented neighborhood. It is not only comfortable but an extremely convenient and safe neighborhood for walks to the harbor marina, the gulf shoreline, the local grocery convenience and the joy of the artistic shops of Washington and Government Streets. And being that we enjoy using the kitchen, the Saturday's Farmer's market and the Winn Dixie are both easily accessible by foot or auto.
We spent many moments walking and hiking in the village when not bicycling about the community. Our biggest task was returning waves back to drivers who made courteous room for our "street life" as there are no sidewalks in most of the residential areas, adding to the charm of the community. An extra bonus was finding special events @ the Univ. of Mississippi Coastal Research Center and enjoying that collegian environment.
It was nice to be in a family oriented community and when we wanted to enjoy casinos and big name restaurants and the tourist attractions, all we had to do was drive across the beautiful 3 mile bay bridge to Biloxi and beyond to Gulfport, etc....and the Beau Rivage in Biloxi has a tremendous 1/2 priced Sr. breakfast and lunch buffet on Wednesdays.
Would we stay here again? Definitely!! Rosemarie is adding a 2nd bathroom with a shower and has plans to up-date the kitchen. And the towels in the bath are generous and luxurious!!! She was ALWAYS available by phone or e-mails when we had questions or needed discussions and sought feed-back from us during our 2+ month stay. We continue to maintain contact with her, sharing ideas and discussing probability plans for next winter's lodgings.

Very comfortable place to stay in a fun little area to visit. Would book it again if any future visit to Ocean Springs.

Strong artist community with Walter Anderson Museum of Art and Shearwater Pottery, Mary C. O'Keefe Art Center, all within walking distance; Frank Geary's George Ohr Museum in Biloxi two miles away. New Orleans (90 miles) an easy day trip. Pilates and yoga offered in town.
