We have been residents of Sonoma for 12 years and Joie is a native Californian. Bart is from Balitimore, Md. but is truely transplanted to the west coast and Sonoma now. We love living in Sonoma and making the cottage available to others to visit this special area. We look forward to your visit!
Joie Malpass purchased this cottage in 2006
SONOMA is well known for it's friendly and welcoming atmosphere and that attracted us to live in this community. There is a Tuesday night Farmers Market in the Spring and summer that is fune for all and we came to live here and enjoy friends, food, and of course wine and this is why we have the cottage for others to share this amazing area with them. Come and find out how fun it is to enjoy this area!
You will experience the wonderful FEELING OF WINE COUNTRY that is very hard to describe until you come and experience it for yourself. Relaxing in the cottage or on the back patio in the vineyard while you sip a glass of wine and enjoy the discoveries or your day and what you have learned at all the fun wineries is priceless.
Loved this cottage--the quiet surroundings, beautiful gardens, vineyard, and proximity to Sonoma's main square/plaza made it the perfect, relaxing getaway we were looking for.
Joie is the perfect host for this property and definitely undersells the quaintness of it. From the location, right by Gundlach and Sebastini Wineries to the warmness around the outside around the house. The house was rented for the granparents of the bride for a wedding at Gundland and the reception was in Napa. How much better could you ask for. We are just waiting for our dates for October and we will be renting this property again. Thank you Joie for a wonderful and comfortable stay.
Very good value on a great piece of property. We'd definitely go back.
We had the most amazing week at Joie and Bart's beautiful cottage. First, Joie and Bart are amazing hosts and provide everything you would want for a quiet getaway in an absolutely beautiful environment that they have created. We were so fortunate to have spent a little time with them and experience what special people they are too.
We rented bikes (twice), from Good Times Touring (Doug brings the bikes and picks them up and is super friendly and helpful).
We just can't saw enough about our experience.
Thank you Joie and Bart!
My wife and I wanted someplace special for our anniversary and we found it in this cottage. Nestled away in a quiet location among grapes and visited by hummingbirds. The cottage is comfortably and tastefully decorated and extremely warm and cozy. Close to downtown Sonoma and the square. Close to Highway 12 and all those wineries. The reservation process was easy and Joie is great at quick and friendly replies to questions. A definite two thumbs up and we WILL return. Thanks for a memorable trip.
This place is wonderful. Joie and Bart are very friendly and extremely helpful with the best spots in Sonoma to visit, The cottage is located at the end of a beautiful country road with beautiful houses everywhere. A little over a mile from the square, forget about driving and ride your bikes (bring them for the trip). California's oldest winery (Buena Vista) is right up the road from the cottage and there are great places to taste and eat in the square (Highway 12, Roche, The Red Grape, Hop Munk, and La Casa). The bed was more comfy than our bed @ home. You cannot beat the price either. Stay here and you will be very happy.
Side note - The cottage is attached to a smaller cottage so you will share a wall with a neighbor. Just F.Y.I
World class wineries and friendly tasting room staff at the wineries. You can wine taste, cheese taste, olive oil taste and then have fabulous lunches and dinners at numerous locations here in Sonoma. You can bike or walk to the wineries or the historic square. Option for bike delivery to the cottage for the many bike trails that are located right outside the property. This is truely a relaxing location offering a relaxing experience. There are spas within one mile of the cottage for you to enjoy massage and mineral baths. Don't miss the sites of Historic Sonoma on the Square and JAck Londo State Park just 20 minutes away in Glen Ellen. We supply you with coupons for free and 2 for 1 tastings at most of the tasting rooms around the square and also a 'local favorites' list from everything to private tours, resturants, bike rentals (they bring them to you and pick them up, with helmets and maps) grocery stores and more. We look forward to your visit!
