About Ann Marie Amaro

Ed Amaro has enjoyed many years of fishing throughout the Central and Northern California areas. After retiring, he wanted to find a place to travel to with friends and family to enjoy some fishing.

Ann Marie Amaro purchased this house in 2001

Why Ann Marie Amaro chose Smith River

When Ed found River's Bend, he knew this was the house for him. Located right on the Smith River and surrounded by Redwood trees and it's very own waterfall, he decided to purchase this property.

What makes this house unique

Ed enjoys sitting in the dining area or outside on either the upper or lower deck with a cup of hot coffee to overlook the Smith river. Hearing the wind and calm water flow of the river is very relaxing while casting out to catch some fish.

Location is incredibly beautiful. Rental has beautiful views. Was there with three generations of family and we all hated to leave. Clean and well cared for. Thinking of going back for salmon or steelhead runs.

We absolutely loved this house! The views from the house and the deck are epic! Loved being on the river in the redwoods. So peaceful to have the sound of the water. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed.

It is all about the location.

This house is in the perfect location – within redwood forest in a very quiet area outside of the city where all you can hear is the sound of silence and the running water from the small waterfall of the stream just near the house. The place is so peaceful and beautiful that we felt like we don’t want to or need to leave the house for our planned redwood hikes – you are actually within the forest just by stepping outside. The house is well equipped and allow our family of 6 (kids 7 to 17) to comfortably sleep and make our stay pleasant. The Smith River is a great place to swim, fish or just hang out on your private beach. It was very calm and you could swim to some large rocks in the middle of the river and sunbath there. There are a few decks over looking the river or the forest side and the outside deck allows for a BBQ and fire pit at night or a morning breakfast table for the whole family. We stayed during August 2014 for 3 days (unfortunately only 3…) but it is certainly in the top of the VRBO houses we would like to return to. You will need to plan your grocery shopping as the drive to the town and the supermarkets takes about 10—15 minutes each direction but for us it was an advantage to be away from the town. If you are arriving late at night don’t be alarmed –it looks like you get lost in the forest (like we felt) but getting up in the morning and seeing where you are makes it an even greater experience.

Thank you for letting us be in this wonderful place and we do hope to come again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to share your pleasant experience at our home. We are pleased that you and your family enjoyed River's Bend. It sounds like you thoroughly took advantage of having the Smith River in the backyard through swimming, fishing and sunbathing. I agree, the large redwoods have a way of making you feel like you are in the forest, probably due to their towering size and beauty. We would love for you to come back for another relaxing, calm peaceful visit. Maybe you can stay more than 3 days to allow plenty of time on the Smith River and hikes through the Redwoods.

Beautiful house in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

This house was everything advertised plus some. Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised by how clean and well maintained the house is. The access to the river is amazing and made our week of vacation absolutely wonderful. We have 4 year old twins and the house was kid-friendly while still allowing the adults to relax without feeling we were hanging out in a playroom. The property around the house was full of little trails and areas for us to explore and of course the river was excellent for small boys to throw in their lines to do some fishing.

Thanks for sharing your property. We will definitely be back. We have rented several different locations through VRBO and this is definitely our favorite rental to date

Perfect family vacation rental

Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with people. Upon arrival we were in overwhelmed at the natural beauty of your property. My boys both enjoyed exploring the river and fishing in the small metal fishing boat. Your home was equipped with everything we needed and was lovely and clean. We really enjoyed roasting marshmallows and making s'mores by your fire pit. The natural waterfall was very beautiful too. We enjoyed it so much we hope to make it back next year.
