Situated in a park-like setting, secluded and private, the house is surrounded by National Forest. The large log and cedar home is beautifully furnished and comfortable even to those with discriminating tastes. A fireplace anchors each of the two living areas, and upstairs and downstairs KITCHENS (yes two!) allow for extensive holiday meal preparation. An outdoor cooking area under the pine trees has three large picnic tables beside a small pond suitable for casual gatherings. Campfire smores under the stars are a delight to the young and old alike.

Inside the home has a rustic yet elegant feel. A baby grand PIANO graces the gathering room, perfect for evening sing-a-longs. Although remote, the house is easily accessible from the highway and only 14 miles from the town of Mena, where there are many opportunities for casual dining. Take the scenic Talimena drive accessed from Main St. in Mena or drive one hour east to Pencil Bluff and rent a canoe from a local outfitter.

PAYMENT INFORMATION: The $350 Security Deposit is required to reserve your dates.

Half of the rental fee is due 90 days prior to arrival and

the balance is due 60 days prior to arrival.

Your security deposit will be refunded within 7-10 days

of departure with return of rental in original condition.

PHONE CHARGES: Unlimited long distance and local calls within the continental US are included.

Most cell phones work outside if not inside the house.

Internet access via guests wireless cards only.

Also FOR SALE, the Forest Gate vacation rental is surrounded by the beautiful Quachita National Forest 13 miles west of Mena, Arkansas. You can take the Scenic Talimena Drive which runs along the mountain ridge directly above the property at The Forest Gate vacation rental. This area has unique wind currents above the Talimena ridge which attract hang gliders to the area. There are trails in the forest for horseback riding and there are rugged mountain bike trails as well. A seasonal antique car show arrives in Mena and the Christian Motor Cycle Association has it's headquarters just south of Mena. You can drive east about an hour to Pencil Bluff and rent a canoe with one of the river outfitters. The old train depot in Mena is now a museum worth dropping in to see. For the casual golfer, the Mena Country Club offers 9 holes of golf. Fishing is available on the Mena Reservoir. Or you can just nature watch or read a good book during your stay and at night, stargaze.

We Love the Forest Gate!!!

We spent a week at this fabulous property and we did not want to leave. The photos do not do the property justice. The furnishing or upper end, not anything like you ususally find in vacation rentals. You have to experience the Forest Gate to really appreciate it. My grandchildren brought their 4 wheelers and bikes. They want to make this our yearly spring break spot! It is off the beaten path, set on several acres in a serene valley. I hope Kathleen forgives me, but I told my grands that the bidet was an Arkansas foot washer. We left rested and refreshed with memories that will last a life time. You will not regret staying at the Forest Gate!

EXCELLENT!!! We could not have found a better place to stay. Everyone in our party of 12 had the most wonderful time at the Forest Gate. Everything was as stated in the description and more. We will definitely be renting from this owner again. We can't say enough good things about the property, beautiful, well furnished, well stocked, very clean and excellent location. Very affordable also. It's nice to have somewhere so beautiful and clean to relax after a hard day of activities. Being able to cook and eat at the cabin was very nice also, we loved the outdoor cooking area and used it every night. There is plenty of wild life to enjoy also. We thank the owner sincerely for making this property available to us. PERFECT!

Beautiful place

A beautiful, relaxing place and it is accurately described on website. We had a wonderful time and they even managed to provide perfect weather. Our group included three sisters, two brothers and their spouses for a total of 10 and we plan on telling everyone (in fact I have already) about the place. Hope to go again.

Great place to get away!

This was a great place to get away from it all! It had very nice furnishings and the beds were very comfortable. It even had a bidet in the master bedroom downstairs for the ladies in our group. We enjoyed hiking and mountain biking in the national forest at the end of the road. It had a nice fenced area outside that our dogs enjoyed. I could not have asked for a nicer place to stay
