Conveniently located, this mountain home is nestled in the forest above the center of Graeagle within walking distance of the grocery store, and Mill Pond, shops, horse back riding and more. There is plenty of parking. Amenities include a fully equipped kitchen and all towels and linens. You can barbeque and party on the large deck and retire to the game room and regulation pool table.

We had the best time at this place! Lloyd, the owner, was sweet enough to let us borrow his anti-gravity lounge chairs which we luxuriously sat in every morning on the huge wraparound deck, staring up at the treetops, listening to the wind in the trees and the birds and squirrels living in them. Paul, the caretaker next door, welcomed us with cookies (fabulous, baked right in Graeagle!) and poetry and stories that tickled us and made us laugh. He is a rare combination of local expert, worldly wisdom and a tremendous sense of humor. Lloyd also gave us a tip on stopping at Ikeda's in Auburn to buy their Apple Cinnamon Swirl bread, which he insisted was best when cut to 3/16 of an inch thick and then toasted. Turns out he was precisely right! The house was so comfortable - we felt at home instantly. A short 5 minute walk to the store, or restaurant or the Mill Pond, but in an extremely quiet residential neighborhood where we felt safe and protected and warm. The photos on this page don't do the place justice. The front stairway is a masterpiece of stone, wood and living plants. There is a large, grassy side yard ripe for barbecuing and relaxing. We loved every minute and wish we didn't have jobs and could be there right now! The beds were great, and the kitchen was equipped with every tool imaginable. Writing this makes me feel homesick. I want to go to Graeagle now!

My family of four recently used the house for a weeklong get-away. It worked perfectly for us. When we rent a house for the first time we are never sure what to expect, so we bring everything. We’ll, we didn’t need to. Everything you need is there; paper towels, paper plates, napkins, foils, laundry soap, hand soap, dish soap, etc. The kitchen is well equipped, and everything is clean.

The house is located in a great part of town within a 10 minute walk of town, but removed enough where it is very quite. Not even a barking dog… Our morning walks were very pleasant.

Paul the keeper greeted us with cookies and smile and with living there for the past 24 years knows everything you could possibly want to know about the area.

If you’ve never been to Graeagle, or if you’re looking for an alternative, I'd highly suggest trying this house. It won’t disappoint.

There is one thing to note however. The downstairs 3rd bedroom requires a trip outside to get to it. This should be considered before thinking that you’ll be keeping young children down there. The trip up in the middle of night could be long one for a little one. Our 12 year old daughter had us bring a mattress upstairs to the 2nd bedroom. She wasn’t about to stay down there by herself.

This house is clean, comfortable, and a great value. It's perfect for families with older children as it's got a separate downstairs area with a pool table and room for the kids to hang out. Nice large deck upstairs and a decent size kitchen. It's a good location with easy access to the town and outdoor activities.
We were greeted with friendly smiles, information and delicious cookies.
We'll be back!

Greagle Get Away

My husband & I took our horses with us and boarded them a short 2 minute drive to Greagle Stables. This house is clean, quiet, and user friendly. Has an easy kitchen to prepare meals when we didn't eat out (awesome restaurants).
Greagle in it's self is beautiful. Lots of golf, boating, fishing, bicycling, hiking, horseback riding, etc. access to flying(Quincy) and a 1 hour drive to Reno. Loaded with Winter sports, too. Just driving around is a wonderful adventure. We go to Greagle as often as possible. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
