Everything was so nice. Hard to find, better directions would of been nice, like the name of the hotel next door(something like that). Other wise the apartment is very big and could accommodate a big group or family. So much is close to the apartment and made for easy living and getting around. We hope to return in a year with our family.
We were 6 adults and 1 baby, three generations. We were happy with the facilities in the apartment. It was very clean and exactly as described on the website. The apartment was close to all major attractions and we enjoyed our stay in Istanbul very much, being close enough to walk around was terrific. The Owner was most helpful and assisted us quickly with our enquiries.
Others have commented on all the wonderful attributes of this apartment but we wish to add that Elif & Marco were superb. There was a hitch with equipment while we were there - NOT their fault - they were not only very obliging re solving the problem - they did even more ensuring we were not inconvenienced.
We were very happy with their assistance, the apartment & all the lovely people we meet in Istanbul.
A good central location for visiting all the must-sees. Easily get-at-able on foot. Small supermarkets close by for bread, milk, coffee etc. Fish restaurants down the hill towards the sea. Other restaurants up the hill towards the city. The 'livre d'or' in the apartment gives a lot of useful information about restaurants and trips but Isanbul is so vibrant you'll never run out of places to try out. The apartment was clean, comfortable and homely and as described, and the photos were accurate. The owner had been prompt at answering our email queries before our arrival. The kitchen was well kitted out and had everything should you want to cook in, although eating out is such good value we didn't do any cooking. But it's good to be able to bring food and drink back and have the wherewithal to prep up or keep in the fridge. The area was not salubrious but workaday with a mosque right next door so we quickly understood what the cry of the Muzzein was all about. We felt quite local staying there and it felt safe to walk out even late at night. Recommended.
Our group of 5 enjoyed our stay in this apartment October 1-10, 2010. It was just a 10 min walk from Hippodrome & 10 min in another direction to the tram stop on the Divan. Good restaurant options close by - we especially enjoyed Cesme - down the hill. Also a small grocery only a block away. Bakery a couple of blocks. We didn’t cook in, but did bring in take-out a couple of times. It was great to have option of glass of wine and crackers/chesse/olives/etc. before going out for dinner. The kitchen is fully equipped.
When securing the apartment, owners were very easy to communicate with, and answered all of our questions. There is some construction across the street, but only once did they work late. There is also a mosque nearby so the call to prayer is quite loud - but you cannot escape this in the Sultanahmet. We felt very safe in the neighborhood at all times of day.
Beds are comfortable. Shower has good water pressure, and lots of hot water. Living room/dining room area cozy and bright. WiFi worked great. Phone was scratchy, but we used our U.S. cell phones. Apartment tastefully decorated and very clean. VRBO listing is accurate. It has a washer/dryer - though we did not use. Only downside was lack of closets (except in master). However, there were hooks in other bedrooms. Having the extra half bath was a life saver. There is lock on building entry door, and another lock on apartment. Apartment entry is just half flight up.
I would recommend this apartment, and would be happy to use again if in Istanbul at future date. It’s a great value considering the amenities and location.
We stayed here with 3 children, 2 parents and a grandparent and were quite comfortable. The apartment is very clean, the furniture comfortable and in good shape and the location is very convenient. My only complaint would be that there was slightly off smell to the apartment but you ony notice it when you first walk in and then it doesn't bother you. The neighborhood is a mix of run down and refurbished buildings but it felt quite safe and is walking distance to some great restaurants, shopping, the tram and grocery stores. Elfi and Marco are very nice and helpful. Yes, the call to prayer is loud, especially at sunrise but you get used to it quickly and it doesn't seem like there is anywhere in the city to avoid it. This apartment is a good deal and I would highly recommend it.
