Our cabin is located between Robbinsville and Bryson City. It's secluded, easy to get to, has a beautiful view... a 10 out of 10, and offers you close proximity to the national park, Appalachian Trail, and other marvels of nature. You'll enjoy the privacy without having to drive forever to get to your mountain destination. The cabin is well-maintained, completely equipped, and we even have high speed internet to keep in touch with the rest of the world. There's a wood burning fireplace, great room, two comfy bedrooms and two complete baths. Outside, you'll find a fire pit, hammock, deck, and patio furnishings. It's fabulous to sit on the deck and take in the view or lounge in the hammock with a good book amid the pristine surroundings. There are lots of places nearby to hike, and about a mile away you'll find the Stecoah Center, where you will find music venues, art, dining, and more. You'll have everything you need; just bring your hiking boots, pj's and groceries.
This Part of the Smokies: If you like crowds, traffic, and lots of tourists milling about, don't come to the Nantahala National Forest in the Great Smoky Mountains. We aren't completely discovered yet, and we hope it stays that way for awhile. This area is full of what most people come to the mountains for. You can enjoy glorious vistas, wonderful hikes, great fishing, and lots of wildlife. There are country roads to explore, lots of old barns to photograph, and amazing scenery...so have your camera ready. There are two fabulous lakes...Fontana and Santeetlah. Imagine a pontoon boat on a pristine mountain lake. Imagine catching a rainbow trout or walleye for dinner. This area of the Smokies is amazing. It's truly what people come to the mountains for. Adventure is around the corner. whitewater rafting, tubing at Deep Creek, mountain biking at Tsali, challenging the Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, climbing the Appalachian Trail or visiting virgin a forest at Joyce Kilmer. Location? You have it!
Things You Can Do: You can hike right along the Appalachian Trail; it's a few minutes down the road. You can go whitewater rafting on the Nantahala River, Ocoee, Cheoah and more. You can ride a horse along the Fontana Lake region. You can visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, or tube at Deep Creek. There are waterfalls to view, and the Blue Ridge Parkway or the Cherohala Skyline are both close by. Enjoy the virgin forest at Joyce Kilmer. See Cades Cove or drive down the Meadow Road to peek in the windows of log cabins of old. The Great Smokies Railroad is right in Bryson City. Hop aboard! Try a little fly fishing in the numerous streams. Rent a pontoon boat and relax on Lake Santeetlah. Drive along mountains roads to find artist galleries, visit an auction right out of the fifties, or discover a hidden little out-of-the-way spot all your own for a picnic in paradise. Saturday night? Go for some mountain music at the Stecoah Center. What a great vacation! You'll come back!
