Bedrooms with cozy duvets and luxury linens. Beautifully appointed bathrooms. Large 42 inch HD LED TV with lots of great movies, games, puzzles and a pool table. Warm hardwood floors, high end finishes and more!

Step outside to a large covered patio, complete with dining table, Weber BBQ and deluxe jetted spa. Walk a few steps further, and enjoy an outdoor firepit to roast marshmallows, swap stories and sing songs under starry skies. All in the safety of Snowline, Mt. Baker's most sought after community.

Things to do: The Shuskan is nestled in the safe and private gated community of Snowline, which offers something for the whole family to enjoy: basketball, swimming, tennis, spectacular hiking trails and views, and much more. Snowline is located just 25 minutes from the Mt Baker Ski Area and is the closest lodging to the lifts available. Ideal for any time of the year.

The Mount Baker and North Fork Nooksack River area is unsurpassed in its scenic beauty and outdoor recreation opportunities. Mt. Baker and Mt. Shuksan (said to be the most photographed mountain in the world!) lie at the headwaters of the Nooksack River watershed in northwest Washington State.

SPRING & SUMMER: Springtime is the time to enjoy:

- Backcountry treks on snowshoes and touring skis;

- Spring skiing and snowboarding in warm sunshine;

- Foraging for mushrooms,fiddlehead ferns, wild strawberries, thimbleberries, and salmonberries;

- Searching the shady forest for delicate flowering plants such as trilliums and bleeding hearts;

- Canoeing and fishing at Silver Lake when the season opens in April.

By mid-summer, the Heather Meadows Recreation Area is clear of snow and the road opens to Artist’s Point and the Austin Pass picnic area, offering spectacular views of Mt. Baker, Mt. Shuksan, and surrounding peaks. Moonrises at dusk, the luminous heavens, and August meteor showers create magnificent evenings and unforgettable experiences.

With over 100 miles of maintained trails and many Forest Service roads in the region, there are diverse backpacking, fly fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking, climbing, hiking, and sightseeing opportunities for all ages and levels.

FALL & WINTER: By the second week of September the high country is aglow with the golds of mountain ash and the fiery reds and oranges from the leaves of blueberries and huckleberries. Summer activities carry over into fall and are joined by hunting and berry picking; a trip to the meadows at this time of year will provide sweet berries to nibble on during a trek or to take home for making pancakes, jams and pies. By late September and into October, the big leaf maples and cottonwoods in the lower North Fork valley are at their peak in color, making this an ideal time to enjoy a fall drive. Sometime in late October or early November, snow begins accumulating again in the higher elevations and a serene silence descends on the mountains.

By late November, winter has arrived. In addition to visiting the ski area, there are other wintertime activities to consider. These include snowshoeing and ski touring; snowmobiling; hikes along the river and its tributaries; eagle-watching; steelheading and more.

Guestbook comments from the owner
What a wonderful retreat we had! WWU Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, then 8 family for dinner and celebration. Wonderful cozy sleeping accommodations, well appointed kitchen, hot tub fun, a great music selection. Two more days, just the four of us. Two hikes along the Nooksack trail – first without a map – don’t recommend! Got lost in a circle but followed the river back home. Second hike to Church Mtn – view socked in due to weather but lovely. Fun movie selection and game time. Loved the cozy beds, lovely décor. Fires in the fireplace! Too wet for the outdoor firepit, but just enough sun breaks to sit and listen to the birds. Thank you for all the thoughtful touches. We WILL be back.

We're two families from Vancouver, BC who love to spend time making memories with family and friends. We were looking for a vacation property that would be an ideal getaway for couples, kids, and family reunions, an easy drive from Vancouver and Seattle. The Shuksan and the Snowline Community has it all!

Susan & Murray purchased this cabin in 2011

The Shuksan is the perfect cabin in a gorgeous setting.

It's an easy drive from Vancouver and Seattle, including easy access for those flying in to YVR, SEA or Bellingham. Driving in to Glacier you'll feel the stress of your everyday life fade away. When pulling up to the Shuksan you'll know a luxury stay and relaxation is just seconds away.

We've been coming to the Mt. Baker area off and on for many years. Simply put, it's an outdoor recreation mecca, without the high prices found in many resorts. You'll love all it has to offer.

And after a wonderful day in the great outdoors, enjoy a great meal in the cabin, or venture out to the nearby towns for some amazing food. There's some great restaurants nearby, all are detailed in the cabin literature.

The Shuksan features a private campfire area, the perfect spot to end the evening at. Gaze at the stars, tell stories, reminisce, and even remember the great taste of S'mores. Marshmallow roasting sticks included.

Baker Birthdays!

  • 5 of 5
I organized a family reunion and birthday celebration and the destination was The Shuksan, it was perfect! Beautiful cabin, so many different areas to hang out, facilities were great, all very clean and organized. There is a beautiful walk along the Nooksak river 1 minute from the cabin...special memories at this place. Highly recommend.

Just what we needed

  • 5 of 5
This was a trip for our daughter's college graduation. We had a full house the first night and just four of us for the rest of the stay. The cabin handled everyone beautifully. The directions were great, the house was even better than described. Beautifully furnished, cozy comfy beds, great decor. Kitchen was very well appointed- there wasn't anything we were in need of when making meals for many. We weren't sure about being "unplugged" for the length of our stay prior to our arrival, but it turned out to be so nice... my husband and daughter actually relaxed and we enjoyed family movies and games. Hiked the Nooksack trail and took a trip to Mt. Baker and various stops along the way. We didn't even need good weather...we will definitely be coming back to Shuksan in future! Thank you for providing such an amazing family get away!

Clean Well Furnished Feels Like Home

  • 5 of 5
Our party was pleasantly surprised to see the condition of the home and all the amenities to be in order. All appliances were accessible and in working condition, including the hot tub was clean! The movie and game selection was vast. The home has beautiful furnishings and a livable space with an open floor plan. Great proximity to ski area and we hope to return in the summer to enjoy more outdoor activities. 5 stars!

Fun, Beautiful and Comfy Perfection!

  • 5 of 5
Our stay at Shuksan Cabin was a truly special experience. The owners have thought of everything to make their guests stay as delightful as possible. The setting of the fire pit and spacious hot tub were only icing on the cake of this spectacular and beautifully appointed home. The gang said on the last day of our stay..."We don't want to leave this house!!" Additionally we skied at Mt. Baker, went backcountry skiing, were able to kayak within a short walk back to the house from up river (we had professional kayakers with us) and also went mountain biking where the trails are the best in the area. Location is recreation heaven! Thank you for your most generous hospitality kind owners, your attention to detail was so noticed and appreciated, we had a magical stay!!
