We had a reunion of high school friends for the weekend, and the chalet was perfect! We even had a baby and a pregnant lady who report that the sounds of the large group were pretty muffled in the furthest back rooms. Having two different spaces for socializing was great. We were here in the winter, so only used the hot tub outside, but the porch (including the screened-in section) looked like a wonderful place to sit in nicer weather. And we did take advantage of the big yard to play some football, and walked in the woods on the property. I highly recommend it!
This is very nearly a perfect vacation home. We spent a week there with our family, including our five year old grandson. There has been a lot of thought given to making sure we had what we needed, and basically everything was there. This house is much nicer than the description conveys. On the first floor, there is a living area, dining area, kitchen, and two bedrooms, one a king sized bed and the other two twins. In the daylight basement, there is another bedroom with a king sized bed, and a second bedroom with two twins. This level also has a full bath, laundry, family room with fireplace and pool/ping pong table. There is a bar area with frig, too. The second floor has another bedroom with king sized bed, with a loft area that has two twin beds. This floor also has its own bath. Having three bedrooms with king sized beds made it very nice, so each couple had privacy as well as the ability to join the group. And my grandson was able to sleep near but not with mom and dad, and he could watch tv in the mornings while the grownups slept. We're already planning to return. Thanks to the owners.
The setting is breathtaking -- we sat on the deck in the mornings, watching the mist burn off the mountains. This was just a very nice vacation.
The Chalet is even nicer than it appears in the internet pictures. The Chalet is immaculate! There is not a bad bedroom; each has it own charm. However, my favorite is the loft bedroom. The balcony is a nice cosy place to sit in the morning and late evening when you need a little quiet time. The screened in porch is fantastic!! The hot tub was a huge hit! The pool table kept everyone entertained. There was so much to enjoy in and around the Chalet, that you could vacation just staying on the property! However, there is plenty to do in the area, so definitely get out and see the sights in Berkeley Springs/Bath and the surrounding area. Dinner out...you simply must try Lot 12 Public House! Jackie is fantastic! She answers questions and ensures that visitors have a truly wonderful place to stay!
What an incredibly relaxing and rewarding vacation we had at the chalet. From the moment we walked in and saw how beautiful both the inside views and outside views were to the moment we left, we had such an enjoyable time.
Words cannot describe the beauty and peacefulness of the chalet and surrounding area. We were joined by our two adult children for several days. We went horseback riding, fly fishing in the Potomac River, bowling, antiquing, and enjoying the local cuisine. Early mornings were spent on the deck watching the birds (favorites were the downy and pileated woodpeckers, American goldfinches, and indigo buntings) and other wildlife (deer, squirrels, rabbits, and groundhog).
The ping pong table and pool table provided great fun for everyone. The screened porch was perfect for an outdoor meal out of the direct sunlight during the day and away from bugs at night. An evening at the big fire pit or in the hot tub with the small fire pit going and the stars out was a perfect way to forget about work and other stresses.
It was a great way to decompress from the hectic world in which we normally live. Our children loved the place despite the challenge of no internet connectivity (they lived through it, though). Sometimes not being connected is a beautiful thing.
We also had a great trip down to Skyline Drive and then passed back through Star Tannery, VA for a tour and vertical wine tasting at Cedar Creek Winery - winner of numerous awards each year that they have been producing wine. If you don't mind an hour drive up the Shenandoah Valley, take the time to get a tour and do a vertical tasting. www.cedarcreekvineyard.com
Perhaps the highlight of the week was an evening thunderstorm that ended with a beautiful double rainbow across the Sleepy Creek valley.
We came back relaxed and refreshed ... and a desire to go back again in the future. Without doubt, we will be returning again and again.

Perfect place matching the description exactly. This was our 10th anniversary for our Girl's Weekend in WV. We have been looking for the perfect place and every year we get disappointed. I had high hopes this year, but I have had them previously. This place did not disappointment. If anything, it exceeds what we need. Chalet was clean, plenty of towels, set up to our needs as far as beds, privacy for everyone with plenty of bathrooms, Jackie was great with her responses and even provided some things to do for the weekend and all of our needs were met.
We loved being closer to town, yet there wasn't a neighbor in sight. We had two campfires taking advantage of both fire pits, the hammock by the hot tub was great since I am pregnant and could be in that while the other girls were in the hot tub or poking the campfire. We love going into town and made three trips into town and went to Tari's twice (highly recommend), enjoyed all the antique shops and had an afternoon at Atasia Spa (another highly recommend).
If you have a larger group and need a great place to really be on vacation, I recommend this Chalet. It was truly a relaxing environment with beautiful views, plenty of places to sit and relax and a wonderful amount of private sleeping areas with comfortable beds.
Looking forward to not searching for the right place next year as we have found it!
This was a beautiful location, we were greeted when we arrived by 4 deer grazing by the front door. The house was beautiful and well equipped, since it was our family gathering for Thanksgiving, the kitchen was critical to a good weekend, and it was well provisioned (only missing a basting tool). The sleeping was very comfortable and finished basement was a wonderful space to gather and play. Even though it was cold, the large fire pit made for very nice evenings of sitting around the campfire and enjoying the clear air and dark skies.
