As Advertised

My wife and I decided at the last minute to go to the Bahamas to celebrate her birthday.
The rental process was smooth and uneventful.
We arrived to find the property as advertised, no real positive or negative surprises.
What you might want to know:
The property is on a part of the island that is fairly removed from cable beach and downtown Nassau. While there is jitney service, at many hours of the day near the property, they can run about an hour between. We ended up walking a lot on a road that is not really conducive to doing so. The jitneys stop running around 6:30 pm. So realize you either need a car, will have to be patient for the jitney or use cabs.
The property is very close to the airport which is great (5 to 10 mins. - $10).
The beach is great to have across the street, however, it is mostly rock and not all that conducive for swimming or hanging out, which was okay for us.
The townhouse itself was in good shape. The bed seemed small, I do not believe it was even a Queen. The pillows were not so great. We had no spring water when we arrived and only one roll of tp for the three bathrooms. No paper towels, but other good condiments, etc. for our use. We asked the property manager to bring us some water, which he did the next day. We ended up buying tp and paper towels.
The appliances all worked well.
There is a large dog chained up next door, which barked a lot, particularly during the beginning of our stay. Once she got used to us, she barked less.
We had one minor problem when an interior door slammed shut due to the wonderful ocean breeze. The door to the master suite and master bath locked us out of these rooms, with the key locked inside. We called the property manager (after five p.m. on Friday) and she responded immediately and resolved the issue within 30 minutes. She was very responsive and professional. We learned from the fellows who came to resolve the issue that there was apparently something wrong with the lock to begin with.
Great tv/stereo system. Wireless access worked perfectly.
There were two great restaurants within walking distance, Travelers Rest (right next door) and Compass Point (a must do) about a 1/4 mile or so up the road (a harrowing walk with the traffic, but worth it).
We would consider staying here again.

Owner's Response: The townhouse is located on West Bay Street which is the oceanfront road that runs the entire North Side of the Island - it is the same road as Sandals, the Sheraton and the Crystal Palace Casino. The townhouse is about 2.5 miles from the Casino however jitneys will take you anywhere and are very inexpensive. The jitneys pick up right outside the townhouse and come by on regular intervals - this is the first complaint I have ever had about the jitneys.
The beds in the townhouse are queen beds as depicted in the photos. This townhouse is primarily used for my law firm and I only rent it sparingly. However, I use it six-seven times a year and my business partner the same. As I am over six foot and my partner over 6'4 we would be very uncomfortable if it was otherwise. Pillows are of course a personal preference.
There are also no problems with the doors - all of the doors in the townhouse have keys thus you need to use them appropriately - the townhouse was built nine months ago and is brand new.
As I tell all of my tenants the beaches in the Bahamas other than at the hotels and on Paradise Island are smaller beaches - not walking beaches like in the States - the beach across the street is a smaller sand beach which I and my family swim at regularly.
I tell all my tenants that being in walking distance to anything in Nassau is very difficult as things are spread out and there are no sidewalks. If you want to be in walking distance and want to rent a townhouse/condo you should stay on Paradise Island although that can be expensive. Otherwise you do need to rely on the jitneys which I have found very inexpensive and convenient or rent a car.
This townhouse is a quiet retreat as I spend most holidays in the Bahamas and would not allow it to be any other way - my neighbor is an attorney in the Bahamas and his dog is well-behaved and harmless.
I try to make vacations enjoyable and thus you can see that I take complants personally - although the overall rating was favorable I thought it necessary to address some of the issues.
I am glad that you overall enjoyed the trip.
