This home feels like a large lodge, with an over sized gas/wood fireplace and high wood ceilings. It has a large great room with a catwalk overhead that leads to a balcony with second story views of the meadow.
The home is part of a 40 acre ranch where you can see horses and deer as you peer out of an 8 X 12 foot glass wall. An extremely unique building, it has porches on two sides, one covered, with a kitchen pass through for outside dining. The other is nestled in to a remote spot next to a seasonal creek. The river is only a short walk, about a quarter mile to the nearest access point.
This property shares a swimming pool with one other property.
There is a large firepit where you can have a bonfire and cook marshmallows, and a separate gas grill for BBQing your meals. If you enjoy cooking, the house comes equipped with a commercial gas range and granite countertops. The Ranch is located only three miles from town square and two miles from Wimberley's unique Corral Theatre.
Kids loved the pool and all the space to run around. Nice property layout and decoration!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay (of 3 days) at the Lodge. A gorgeous property, beautiful setting ... every amenity has been provided for. Can't wait to go back again!
We stayed at the Cedar Creek Lodge to host a retreat for women. From the minute I stepped on to the property, my heart could feel the peace and beauty of this place! The pictures, though great, don't even do the place justice! The open-floor concept made it super convenient to talk and hang out while cooking. The exposed beams, and just over-all feel of the place was perfect. The Blanco river is in walking distance; horses and cows grazing around you... So much beauty and peacefulness surrounding you! We felt comfortable and at ease our entire stay!
The were only a few minor issues that lead to the 4 star verses 5 star, and I suspect the owner/manager will tend to these things, and then I'd happily give it a 5 star! Those things were: 1. We looked all over and couldn't figure out where to put our trash bags - turned out they containers are by the street. 2. We couldn't figure out how to connect to the wifi, so we had no internet access. 3. We had issues with too much smoke in the house when we built a fire. 4. We couldn't get the jacuzzi to get hot enough for us to want to get in it. Easy to fix these issues - just some clearer written communication left for renters, and in the case of the jacuzzi, if anything needs to be fixed, I'm sure it will be tended to.
Again, over all, an amazing place - in fact, I'm hoping to come back later this year!
Overall our stay at Cedar Creek Lodge was average. The property is nice and the house was clean. The common areas of the house are very nice, there is a lot of sitting room which is great! We arrived on a Friday evening and checked out Sunday morning. We were planning to make a breakfast casserole and hang by the pool on Saturday morning, but when we got started, we found out the oven did not work and the pool was extremely foggy (most likely had too much chemical in it). We did not notify the property manager of either of these issues during our stay because there was no way they would have time to correct them in time for our intended use. It usually takes days to clear fog from a pool and we were able to borrow our neigbors oven for the casserole. We were also disappointed that the house is not actually 3 bedrooms - the "3rd" bedroom with a bunk bed is more of a hallway/entrance area...it does not have a bedroom door. Also, there is only 1 actual shower. The claw tub doesn't have a shower curtain, so you get water all over the bathroom if you try to shower in it.
We were pretty disappointed with these issues, but overall still enjoyed our stay. The price of this rental is less than others in Wimberley, so we weren't expecting perfect accommodations. I think if we had known about the bedroom and shower issues prior to going, we would have still stayed at this house because of the price...it would just be nice to have it in the description so people know what they are getting into and aren't disappointed upon arrival.
We stayed at the Cedar Creek Lodge with our two children, ages 4 and 7, and it was absolutely perfect. The setting was so peaceful and there was so much space for the kids to run around. The pool was a great too! We had everything we needed and the house was so charming. We definitely were sad to have to go home!
