Great house, gorgeous location! Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains, near historic Shelby and Kings Mountain, NC. We have 5 acres of rolling hills and hardwood forest, directly on 400' of waterfront. Plenty of space to let the kids and pets run around! Only 45 minutes from Charlotte, but worlds away from the hustle and bustle.
Moss Lake is a quiet, spring-fed lake that is very clean (it’s the primary water supply for Kings Mountain) where you can canoe, fish, water ski and jet ski without the mayhem of other lakes near Charlotte. Close to Kings Mountain, Historic Shelby, Crowders Mountain, Schiele Museum, golf courses AND other attractions - there is plenty to do if you want to get out and about.
The waterfront includes a large private dock with mooring cleats, only a few minutes from a public landing so getting your boat there is a breeze! With state-record bass, it’s perfect for early morning anglers; with stunning views, it’s perfect for a sunset canoe ride. Or, kick into high gear with your jet ski or power boat. Whatever your pleasure, you’ll enjoy your water sports away from the crowds for a relaxing and fun experience.
On the property is a charming farmhouse with two bedrooms and one bath specifically set up for accommodating and entertaining large groups (owners have 5 kids, who all bring their friends for overnight sleep-overs!) With a queen-sized bed in the master bedroom, two sets of bunk beds in the other bedroom, as well as a futon and pullout sofa in the great room - which all mean you can sleep up to 10 comfortably. Includes newly renovated modern kitchen, washer/dryer, new water heater, A/C, etc. HDTV with DVD player, WiFi, and a bunch of popular movies for your use. We even have a closet full of books, puzzles and board games if the kids ever wear out from all the fun in the sun.

This is truly a 'hidden gem' we are renting out again this year - discover it, and love it like we do!
PLEASE NOTE: THIS HOUSE WAS FULLY BOOKED FOR SUMMER 2013 BY APRIL - PLEASE BOOK EARLY FOR SUMMER 2014, THANK YOU!
We are a family with 5 active kids and an energetic border collie. We use the lakehouse whenever we can - but enjoy sharing it with other folks.
Steve purchased this house in 2006
Gorgeous lake, very little boat traffic
My son had such a great time! We used the dock and lake a lot. Lots of wakeboarding...and Xbox (lol)! Thanks!
We were in town for my sons wedding and needed a place to stay for several days. It was perfect for our family gatherings and hanging out at the lake while waiting for wedding activities.
The house is very nice on the inside with a renovated kitchen and bathroom. It was very comfortable. We would love to visit again.
Moss Lake is a quiet reservoir near Shelby, NC. With very little boat traffic and clear water it is a nice place to learn to ski, swim, canoe, fish or just float and enjoy the day. The large property has easy access, great views and plenty of space for anything from touch football to chilling! The lake's main boat landing is within sight of the dock.
The single story home pre-dates the lake construction and has been recently updated inside. A wonderful kitchen with granite and new appliances now greet you. The bathroom is also newly renovated, spacious with a large walk-in shower. The owners keep the house very clean and provide great quality linens, a nicely equipped kitchen and everything you would need for a relaxing stay.
Close by is Shelby- with the new Earl Scruggs Museum, two great North Carolina BBQ restaurants (both named "Bridge's" but they aren't related!), decent Chinese food at Chen's, movies, modest shopping and the Don Gibson Theater which hosts everything from eclectic live music to family movie showings. Kings Mountain and Crowder's mountain are just a few minutes away as well with hiking, history and civil war reenactments.
This is our 4th time renting this property and it just keeps getting better!
My family and I stayed here for a long weekend. There were 6 of us and 1 dog. The property is large, beautiful and peaceful; the house is spacious. There is lots of lake access and Charlie our dog was in heaven. There is a nice selection of games too, we sampled several of them. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We hope to come back soon.
One of the most scenic views on the lake. Easy access to the boat landing. The kids loved the fact that they could swim right off the end of the dock. This was one of the best vacations we've had as a family. We got to enjoy each others company while we chilled by the water.
My grandchildren 3 & 6 loved it there. They were able to get in and out of the lake by themselves and swim safely(huge plus). The view is beautiful, lake clear, quite lake, and not on top of neighbors. Many great eating places, shopping of all kinds and movies close by but not too close..
