Newly Remodeled, Quiet for Couples. Fully equipped adorable cottage with full kitchen, bath w/shower, TV & DVD, Stereo & CD player. Just bring your bathing suit and towels! Patio with Table/Chairs & Charcoal Grill, BonFire Pit overlooks the lake. Deck on the water across from cottage is on Celery bay lake access into Spider Lake for viewing the wildlife, & jumping fish. Great for fishing. Spider Lake is an all sports lake with 459 acres. No wake before 11 am & after 7:30 pm each day ensures the lake is extra quiet in the morning and evening. When you are here, you will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, but there is easy access to town. Traverse City that is. Also nearby in the Pere Marquette State Forest you will find: Hiking Trails, Snow Shoeing and X-C Trails, and Mountain Biking Trails. Ranch Rudolf is a short drive away for Horse Back Riding and Canoeing and Tubing on the Boardman River. Pontoon Boats available for rent on the lake - ASK ! Boat launch near by

This Cozy Cottage is located on Spider Lake approx 10 miles from Downtown Traverse City. A 459 acre 'all sports lake', Spider Lake can be found within the Pere Marquette State Forest. Located in Grand Traverse County along with many other inland lakes, we are also close to East and West Grand Traverse Bay. The Boardman River snakes thru the county providing fly fishing, canoeing and tubing opportunities and then empties into West Grand Traverse Bay near downtown Traverse City. All kinds of water, lake and river water activities can be done in an endless water wonderland - Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring. Being the Tart Cherry Capitol of the World means not only cherries for our area, but also all kinds of berries, apples, peaches, sweet corn and all can be found at roadside stands and our downtown Farmers Market approx July - October. With so many things to do, you might forget to do one of my favorite things.. Nothing!

Great Home Base for Traverse City Area

My wife and I were looking for a quick 3 night getaway in the Traverse City Area and this cottage more than met our expectations. More affordable, private and comfortable than hotels, nice clean cottage and a wonderful owner who brought us homemade bread, firewood and offered up a canoe for Spider Lake. Easy driving distance to Traverse City, Leelanau, Old Mission, Sleeping Bear Dunes. One of our favorite parts of Michigan and this little cottage was a great home base to explore it. Very nice to find something that rents by the night as well, as most other cottages and condos offered only weekly rentals.
Owner's Response: It has been so nice to offer our cottage to out of town guests like Steve & Ruth we are truly fortunate to have a place in Traverse city close enough to explore the many beautiful sights and our guests always treat the cottage as home.

Sweet Place

The only reason I didn't check "excellent" is that our ideal place is in the middle of the woods. There are neighbors here, yet the placement of their homes still provides nice privacy and it was quiet. A really nice getaway.

If you are looking for a cozy, clean spot with a lake view for your morning coffee, this is a great one. From the table in front of the cottage or across the street on the deck there are great views of water fowl, lily pads and even mist on the water in the early morning.

There is a fire pit in back and a charcoal grill, both of which we made use of. Access to the main part of Spider Lake is possible via canoe by arrangements with the owner. We had fun canoeing out to the islands on the lake. Nice beaches there for swimming.

This is a relaxing, quiet getaway spot without tv or phone. When you want civilization, it's a pretty quick trip to get there. Not far away from Traverse City (we went there a couple of times) and Mission Peninsula, Leelanau and all that.
