It has been said that the thermally heated fresh and seawater pond on this property is one of the only remaining naturally- occurring ponds in Kapoho, and It will delight you with its 75-85 degree water. Surrounded by coconut trees, ocean grasses and lava walls, it really is a special retreat. It's calm enough for even small children to swim in. There are two groups of steps leading down into the water for easy access. And if that's not enough, you can walk right down the street and slip into Champagne Pond and swim with the sea turtles! The Cottage offers two separate bedrooms, the 'Princess Room' right off of the lanai and the 'Queen's Room' off of the living room. There is one shared bathroom with a shower/tub and an indoor laundry area providing a washer and dryer. The living room has tropical furniture for lounging and a large screen T.V. with satellite and DVD player. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking. The lanai has distant ocean views and barbecue grill

Legends of the Pond: One can only wonder what ancient Hawaiians may have used this special hot pond, perhaps even a Hawaiian Princess. She would have used this kind of pond to relax on a tropical evening, gazing at the stars and washing away her worries. Children would have played and laughed while trying to catch the fish that swam here. You too can experience what generations of people have enjoyed - the special wonder of a naturally made warm water pool in your own front yard, at the Cottage.

It has been said that during the lava flow that surrounded Kapoho, a small girl sat at the edge of this pond and watched the lava flow towards it. As the lava approached and started to descend into the water, it stopped, flowed backwards and then went around, sparing the pond and the little girl.
