Guestbook comments from the owner
Comment from on-site guest book: "Had the most AMAZING time in Rockport this weekend! Your BEAUTIFUL home offered the perfect balance of comfort and entertainment for the entire family. SPECTACULAR VIEWS from every room in the house. The beautiful weather was perfect for enjoying the paddle boat & kayaks! We were entertained by dolphins at play multiple times throughout the day – it’s pretty incredible that you can watch them right from your living room window!! We enjoyed good eats of crab & crawfish at The Boiling Pot – yum! Thank you for (sharing) this lovely jewel with our family. We can hardly wait to visit again!"

We owned a smaller house in Rockport since 1979 and have always loved the atmosphere of the town. Key Allegro is the most vibrant community in Rockport and this house in particular is stunningly beautiful and comfortable – open and airy – it just has a wonderful feel. It was way above our price range, but once we saw it, we couldn’t live without it!

FANTASTIC!

  • 5 of 5
We had never been to Rockport and we decided to go all out and stay at the nicest place we could find and bring everyone. I brought my two boys and 4-6 other friends also drove down at different times over our 3 days. The place is great! Everything was beautiful and in wonderful condition. It is perfectly located. We were even given access to paddle boats and kayaks. Like others have mentioned (and I did not really count on), we actually saw some dolphins swim up to within 2 feet of the back porch. Really amazing!

The fishing was great. My little guy caught endless perch and smaller trout from the back porch (almost became a problem keeping up with helping him to bait and throw back all of his catches). I suspect the fish get bigger back there when the weather is not so darn hot. He could not have been more thrilled. The fishing from the pier for the big guys was also fun although we had less luck.

(As sort of a side note) I suggest taking a Bay fishing tour the first day instead of waiting until the last day like we did; it would have been good to have brushed up on some of those tips earlier on.

Great place! Thanks!

Owner's Response: I'm glad to hear that your family had such a great time and that you caught so many fish! Catching so many fish that it's almost a bother is indeed a good problem to have! I agree that it's always a good idea to take your guided fishing trip early in your stay, not only so you can apply those techniques while fishing in the bay in front of the house (and canal behind the house), but also so that you can enjoy eating the fish during your stay.

We look forward to having your family stay with us again sometime.

GREAT FOR FAMILY VACATION

  • 5 of 5
This house is exactly as shown in the photos or better! Kitchen is equipped with everything you need. Lots of towels and extra linens available. Fished from the dock every day and caught quite a variety. It was a little too windy to fish from the pier. The kids enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boat in the lagoon.
Looking forward to staying here again!

GREAT STAY!

  • 5 of 5
Four 60ish couples shared this large home.....and never felt crowded! It is very spacious, with lots of openness and great views of the bay and the canal. The 4 bedrooms and 4 baths were great, as we all prefer our own private space...and is sometimes hard to find in rental homes. The kitchen was well stocked with many appliances, and every utensil we needed. The private pier in front was a plus.....and the canal access in the rear was great for people watching. The decor is very "beachy".....a bit "retro".... In places, but nice. We enjoyed a great weekend!

LUXURY OCEAN STAY!

  • 5 of 5
We just spent a week here and we could not have had a more relaxing and enjoyable time. The house is AMAZING. It's big enough to comfortably sleep and accommodate large groups (we had 6 adults, 2 teenagers, and 1 toddler and had more than enough room for all of us) but still manages to feel incredibly cozy and welcoming. The upstairs area has 3 bedrooms (each one with its own bathroom), a nice, little family room loft area, and a large, beautiful balcony perfect for taking in the gorgeous ocean views. The downstairs area is incredibly open and with windows surrounding the front and back you never forget that you're just steps away from the ocean.

We loved the private pier out at the front of the house. We didn't do any fishing but it was incredibly relaxing to just sit on the bench at the end of the pier and take it all in. Having the canal right at the back of the house was great because if you just wanted to cool off or relax in a tube you didn't have to go far. We also really enjoyed taking walks around the neighborhood. If you step out of the house and turn right and go just a few houses down you end up in a cul-de-sac where you can see that Rockport Beach Park is literally right next to you (with just a small body of water in between). The drive to the beach is under 5 minutes which was great since we made the trip 1 or 2 times a day. Everyone in our group had a blast at the beach, but it was especially perfect for our 2 yr old:

1) Plenty of permanent umbrellas for shade along the beach

2) Lots of shallow beach area, perfect for even a toddler to be able to walk around in and try to jump "over" the waves

3) Rockport Beach is the only "Blue Wave Beach" in Texas which means it is cleaned nightly. This is HUGE. We ended up going to Galveston just a couple weeks after our Rockport trip and our toddler refused to even go near the water because there was just so much seaweed and debris. She definitely got spoiled at the Rockport beach.

4) At the very end of the park near the park pavilion there is a small "lagoon" area which has even more shade, a nice beach area, and has a bit more of a pool type of feeling (less waves, more floating/relaxing in a tube kind of a feel). We went here for one of our afternoon beach trips and were lucky enough to see a porpoise playing around on the outskirts of the lagoon.

We absolutely could not have stayed at a better place in Rockport. One of the most relaxing (and fun!) vacations I've ever had.

Owner's Response: Thanks for this thorough review, not only of our home, but of the Rockport experience in general. This will be very helpful to those who have never visited this little gem along the Texas Gulf Coast. I'm glad your family had such a great experience. Come see us again sometime!

PERFECT PLACE TO GETAWAY!!!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at this beautiful bayfront home over a long Easter weekend and loved it! If you love the sights and sounds of the Gulf waters, this is the place for you. It is located on the exclusive Key Allegro island in Rockport, TX. The front of the home faces Aransas Bay and you have access to a private pier for fishing and just hanging out. It has a fantastic view of the sunset. The house is HUGE with plenty of room to spread out. The owners make sure that it's kept in excellent condition. We ate all our meals in the kitchen which had all the cooking utensils you need for any kind of food preparation. There was enough space for 15 people to dine comfortably. Our group included kids from 7-21 years old and they all loved fishing on the private dock just out the back door. The dock has several lights and an underwater light that really brings the fish! If you want to dine out, there many great restaurants within minutes that serve steaks and fresh seafood brought in daily. It's a perfect place for a family reunion or your favorite group of friends. We are already planning on next return visit.

ELEGANT, SPACIOUS & COMFORTABLE

Elegant, Spacious & Comfortable
  • 5 of 5
My wife, three young kids (10, 9, 6 yrs old) and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in this wonderful home. It is very large and elegant, yet comfortable and very relaxing. The view from the front is amazing--as it faces the Gulf. We just walked out the front door and viola! we're looking at water. The back is on the channel--so there's literally water on both sides. Pretty cool to see dolphins swimming both in front and in back of the house.

When you drive into the area, you recognize very nice homes all around... And THEN... you enter into a private drive/road with maybe 9 or 10 houses that are AWESOME! This place is one of those houses!

Anyway, we had a great time and definitely look forward to returning. I've recommended this place to my family and friends, and will continue to do so.

We ate a very nice restaurant in the area--walked about 1 mile from the house. I don't recall the name, but it was cool. We sat outside, listening to live music. Our kids also had fun--which is key for a nice evening. There is an aquarium in the restaurant that houses an eel Pretty interesting--as we'd not seen a live eel that close before.

The place was very clean and the owner made it very easy--very professional and friendly.
