Craftsman bungalow just a 7 minute leisurely stroll to Prescott's historic Courthouse Square. PLEASE CHECK OUR AVAILABILITY. CLICK ON THE CALENDAR at the TOP or BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.

Adorable 1939 Craftsman cottage just 3 blocks from the historic Courthouse Square and Whiskey Row. The Cottage sits right on Granite Creek which runs seasonally.

This wonderful, charming and cozy 1200sf house has 9 foot ceilings, crown moldings, beadboard, original dining room and kitchen pantry built-ins, laundry room and a seasonal 'morning room' with a slate floor. Granite Creek Cottage has retained its original charm but is improved with modern amenities such as central heat and air conditioning, a very large remodeled bath with tiled shower, nice eat in kitchen with Quartz countertops, appliances including a 5 burner gas stove with both convection and regular oven and warming drawer, microwave and coffee maker, crockpot. Our Cottage is extra nice and we try to keep our rates the best in Prescott.

Each of the 2 bedrooms has a high quality queen size mattress on a 4 poster bed. One bedroom has a lovely carved oak 4 poster and armoire that houses a cable TV. There is also a ceiling fan. The color scheme is soft greens and buttery yellows. We provide a cozy bathrobe in each bedroom and even a laundry basket!

Our 2nd bedroom has a pine 4 poster draped in lace and a tall pine dresser. The colors in here are soft greens and gold. This bedroom also has a ceiling fan, and direct access to the bathroom. There is also access to the bathroom from a short hallway off the kitchen.

The formal dining room in Craftsman style has beadboard wainscott will remind you of your Grandma's house. The table has seating for 6. There is a charming built in hutch for our delicate 'treasures'. You will find a few games in one of the drawers.

The living room is cozy and has a sofa and 2 swivel chairs so all can enjoy the 32' flat screen HDTV. There is an antique oak fireplace with electric flame insert. It is for ambiance, not heat. Stained glass with a dragonfly design is in the window above the sofa. A ceiling fan also cools the room when the air conditioning is not needed. Complimentary high speed Internet/WiFi is included.

Our bathroom is very large (9x11ft) with a tiled step-in shower, grab bars, hair dryer, new flooring and antique vanity with vessel sink, new lights and mirror.

We have decorated our home with original art, and some whimsical 1940's vintage western movie posters, as well as vintage collectibles.

A flagstone patio with a dining table for 4-6 and umbrella is next to the seasonal flower garden. It's a great location for morning coffee, afternoon drinks or enjoying great burgers cooked on the propane grill. There is also a small table and 4 'Adirondack' chairs on the porch overlooking the lawn on the west side of the house. One side of the house gets morning sun, the other afternoon sun.

Some guests may qualify for a partial rebate of their cleaning fee. Please ask for details!

'Just as the heart lies within, so does the heart of our Cottage...'

Granite Creek Cottage is in a mixed bag neighborhood as is typical of the oldest areas in Prescott. These are small older homes, businesses, apartments, and small trailer parks next door and across the alley that have been there for decades. The Cottage is built directly on the east bank of Granite Creek so the paved back alley is the only way to get in there. Many in the neighborhood are elderly, a few children nearby. We appreciate quiet and considerate guests. Please read our guest reviews for a personal appraisal of our Cottage.

Why The Owner chose Prescott

We were looking for vintage charm, as close to the Square as possible and we found it in our adorable Granite Creek Cottage. It was love at first site. My husband and I turned, looked at each other, and knew it was just what we had been searching for. We love staying there and do so as often as we can. Everyone who comes has a big smile on their face when they get their first look inside. The charm of a restored 1939 bungalow captivates our guests.

What makes this house unique

First, you will be amazed at the charm, warmth and overall amenities at Granite Creek Cottage. The kitchen and bath have been updated, high quality beds (one even has a heated mattress!), good furniture throughout and original art pieces. The dining room has the original built in china and the pantry in our kitchen is original with a potato or flour(?) bin and there are screens in cupboards for cooling other vegetables. We put in a country flower garden for summer and in the Spring our Irises bloom like crazy.

Guestbook comments from the owner

It was our last Spring break vacation with our son before sending him off to college. We spent our mornings on the back patio eating breakfast together, walking Whiskey Row and Jerome during the days. For one night we walked to and from Rosa's taking the creek path. It was calming. We were pleasantly surprised how dog friendly the town is.

Thank you for opening your home to us. It was a perfectly relaxing weekend.

Wonderful Getaway

  • 5 of 5
I read 4 or 5 reviews preceding our visit and they say everything. Must emphasize the neighborhood is very quite and the outside sitting areas great for reading and cocktails.Try the shady creekside path to downtown and the Wild Iris on Granite St. Good morning coffee , fresh scones ,shady dog friendly courtyard and WIFI. Also, the weekend historical walking tour starting at the Visitors Center is great. Favorite eating place was Bill's Grill a block from the cottage.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your kind words. Here is an email they sent a day after arrival.
First of all I want to tell you how much we absolutely love your home and want to return in the future. I spent my summer sabbatical in Prescott with my kids and we come as a family about 3x a year. I can tell you really put thought into the rental experience from the satin cover under the pillowcases, the robes, the friendly blackboard with suggestions and more. The house is like something out of a Country Living article with the stone fence, white gate, bead board, antique dresser as a bath cabinet….Love.

Anniversary Trip

  • 5 of 5
What a great location...walking distance to the town square. We are very active so we prefer to walk than to drive and that is definitely what we did. The only time we used our car was to drive to our spa treatments on the other side of town but other than that we walked. The house is very charming and has everything you need to be comfortable and is very quiet. We did not make/eat meals but the kitchen is fully stocked. The owners are very helpful and responsive.
We went to Iris Coffee house a few morning and tried Cuppers both are very charming and have delicious coffee and treats. Had lunch at the Firehouse on the patio and had dinner at El Gato great atmosphere, service and food. We are planning a trip back in December but to no surprise that weekend is already booked. We will definitely stay here again.

A great home away from home!

  • 5 of 5
We booked this little house for the month of August. From the photographs on the website, we knew it was charming but we didn't realize just how comfortable and convenient it would be. We've stayed at other VRBO rentals before which were nice, but with this one, the owners went way out of their way to make us feel comfortable. We like to cook and the updated kitchen has all kinds of utensils and even spices for cooking. We enjoyed the way the house was decorated with lots of collectibles and movie posters. It was like taking a step back in time but with modern conveniences. We enjoyed being able to walk to the courthouse Square and to grocery stores and shops that were all within a 10 minute walk. It's been a great vacation for us.

Happy to be here for 2 months!

  • 5 of 5
This quaint two bedroom cottage was such a great surprise when we first opened the door. Sun room, laundry room, larger kitchen with table and pantry/breakfast prep area, full DR, two decent size BR's, living room, and large bath with step in shower. All decorated with antiques, well chosen western artwork. Honestly, the toughest part is driving down the alley and you think OMG, this is going to be bad, but wait! This gem is fenced in, enclosed, pet friendly, you don't see or hear anybody, and the parking area holds 3 cars. Two patios for BBQ's or just sitting reading listening to a gajillion birds (my wife had to go get binocs and a bird book). It's creekside, with a path that leads all the way along the creek to our favorite breakfast spot, The Dinner Belle. Keep going and you are at Granite Creek Park. Go up the steps along the way into restaurants and the main square of Prescott. The owners have worked really hard to keep this place ship-shape, and well provisioned with accessories. They've even stocked shampoo and bath supplies, coffee filters, and hand soaps. Incredible. I gave this a five star because of its value: you don't have broad sweeping vistas, but you do have easy downtown access and that's a lot of fun. We stayed here for 2 months, finding it "home" and very, very liveable. We will come again.

February in Prescott

  • 4 of 5
Before Feb. we had only spent an afternoon in Prescott, AZ. We found the Granite Creek Cottage on VRBO and it seemed to meet our needs, pets were ok and the yard was fenced. We talked with Ellen about the house and Prescott in February and decided to give it a try.

What seemed a little iffy at the start turned out to be a really enjoyable month. The cottage is well maintained and nicely decorated, a bit of a cowboy movie theme. The beds are comfortable, the bath is large with a walk-in shower and the kitchen is up-to-date. The cottage has an eating area in the kitchen and a nicely furnished dining room. We elected to have our breakfast at the cottage and our main meal at a Prescott restaurant.

Each day began with a walk along Granite Creek with the dog. It is about ten minutes to the courthouse square, with multiple choices for coffee or breakfast. We were able to spend days in Prescott without using the car but did some day trips too. The weather was warmer than usual and really didn't limit our activities.

We enjoy birding and became regulars on hikes offered by Jay's Bird Barn. The hikes were free, lead by very knowledgeable guides. Our fellow hikers were good company who often suggested other things we might like to do. Their suggestions ranged from restaurants, to historical sites and road trips.

Our month in Prescott was truly enjoyable and Granite Creek Cottage was a comfortable base of operations. We would recommend it.
