Costa Grande is located in the Coronado/Gorgona beach area. We sit just off the beach (good for quieter nights and no beach insects), about a four minute walk down a potholed road. The Coronado and Gorgona beaches are next to each other. Our Gorgona beach has the local fish cooperative, where you can buy great, fresh fish for $.75 to $2 per pound, take a swim and fix the fish in our large kitchen and BBQ. We have both an adult and child's swimming pool.
We can provide or arrange for transportation from the airport.
The owners and visitors are from all over the world, with several local Panamanian families, much like the colorful town of Gorgona where it is located. This is not a tourist only community!
Our Casita has some wonderful local art, including a full wall mural featuring water and colorful birds. We have two units from which you can choose. One sleeps 6 and the other has an ocean view and sleeps 2.
Our downstairs unit has a larger living room, kitchen and terrazzo than the other available rentals in the complex. You will love cooking the fish you buy at the local fish co-op on the gas Bar-B-Que on the terrazzo.
We have taken great care to create adequate storage spaces in the furniture. We live in this unit 6 months each year, so it is equipped with everything one would need.
Each room has both a split A/C unit and a ceiling fan for complete comfort.

We are a young retired couple (68), who have live in Seattle during the sunny months so that we can see our 5 grandchildren. We love to travel. We recently travelled to Norway, Sweden and France. Last year we did exchanges in Australia. John swims a mile or so each day in the Ocean, when in Panama, and loves to play water polo. Jayne loves to walk on the beach.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 2006
Panama has perfect weather and choices of climates, friendly people, good economics, an interesting culture, including an interesting international city, and is reasonably close to the US for family and friends to visit.
We can offer either a two bedroom + terrazzo unit that sleeps up to 6 or a one bedroom unit with a terrific ocean view that sleeps 2 in a King bed, which can convert to two twin beds.
With this much sun one cannot have a depressed thought. Living outdoors will cause you to become more fit: tan and thinnner! Panama has many expat residents and visitors. You will meet many people with adventures similar to yours. There is a great social life here. We are fully furnished, including boogie boards!
I found this place searching on line and to be honest I was very afraid because I had never used this site before. However, John has been great answering all my emails very quickly, Kathy, the property manager in Panama, was very easy to reach and then we had Jose at the site for anything that was needed ( e.g, new propane tank) . We rented both units and there was 10 family members and it was very confortable. Everything that is said about the place is true, very quiet, great neighbors, very clean, fully stocked ( towels linens, pots, pans, utensils, etc )... just bring food. The main road is in bad shape but you just need to go slow. I 100% recommend it and I will be renting from them again.
What a great get away! We had a wonderful family vacation over the Christmas Holiday with our teenage and young adult children. Everyone had a wonderful time. The community was great, very relaxing and not too over developed. Easy drives to stores, shopping and interesting sites. The local fish and produce was so fresh. Loved La Ruina, Carlito's, the beach front restaurant in Palamar and the Mexican restaurant, all very close to the house. John and Jane were so easy to work with and even help us with local attractions, restaurant and finding a car rental and surf school. Would rent from them again in a heartbeat.
John and Jane were great to work with. We were the first renters of thier brand new 2nd story addition. The large kitchen window, which we left open round the clock, framed the Pacific perfectly.
About a five minute walk to the beach. When the tide was about we walked a good four miles where the mansions meet the sea.
Our favorite beach for excellent boogie boarding (boards provided) was about a nine dollar cab ride thru Coronado and to BayView. We spent two days in the surf and had a few Balboas (cerveza) at the hotel resaurant there. Just excellent. Patio, outdoor showers by the pool. Very inviting.
If you go, ask John and Jane to introduce you to Iris. She is a block away and will cook for you, either to take out, or she will cook in your unit. Speaks English too. La Ruina in Gorgona is a fun restaurant owned by an American with a Panamanian wife. Go there.
We cabbed and were offfered rides by people who were vactioning in the unit next door, but I would recommend having a car.
Met some nice people in the complex. Had margaritas by the pool late one night.
The cat who lives next door visited very day, friendly little guy.
We have stayed at the Mango Villa in Costa Grande several times over the last 5 years. It has become to feel like home away from home and we highly recommend it to all looking for a beach get away in Panama. For our family, many of the modern amenities contributed to our comfort during our long stay; The air conditioners in each room, the wi-fi for our laptops and the fully appointed kitchen and living/dining area were set up for a relaxing stay. The pool was a few short steps away and looked right out onto the beach. Each bedroom had storage shelves under the beds, so there was ample space for our 'stuff'. And speaking of modern amenities, the grocery store and restaurants were about 10 minutes away. There was even an organic grocery store with gluten free items in the new mall area. After a daily walk on the beach (one block away), we'd settle in and enjoy our fresh fish (fishing village right on the beach) and Panama produce. We will be back!
The Gorgona beach is a four minute walk. the fish co-op is a short walk to the right of where you enter the beach. They have fresh, cheap fish almost every day, except Holidays.
Our beach is great for fishing, boogie boarding and swimming. For more challenging surfing walk or drive up the beach about one mile to Malibu. We are a 10 minute walk to a good restaurant. We are a 10 minute drive to a major shopping area in Coronado, with many more good restaurants.
