My precious family of 19 (and growing :-) ) spent the most wonderful long weekend last summer at this grand vacation home in the mountains. It is nestled in a spot that makes you feel like you are out in the country away from everyone but is actually only a few minutes drive from everything! There was so much to keep us all entertained, especially the 8 kiddos all under the age of 5, that we never ventured off the property ...only went grocery shopping and to get takeout occasionally. If you read all of the reviews about the accommodations, I agree with them all! My whole family gives a 5 star thumbs up!!
Lovely vacation home and location!!! We spent 5 day at this lovely vacation home, at the end of December 2014. We were a large group of friends ( 7 families/ 6 children).
This is a truly beautiful home ( the photos don’t do its justice :) ), very clean, with lots of room for everyone, beautifully decorated and with everything one could possibly need in a ”home away from home”. The beds were comfortable,( kids loved the bunk beds), the kitchen was equipped with everything you might need. The two separate living-rooms upstairs together with the game room downstairs gave everyone an option for a joyous or a quite place to spend time with friends.
We enjoyed the hot tub as well as the fire pit in the nice, large yard. Too bad we had a few rainy days.
This vacation home is away from all the noise but still close to a variety of attractions. It’s definitely the best choice if you plan to visit Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, or even if you just want to relax and enjoy the nature. It’s the perfect place for both a winter or summer vacation close to the mountains. I’m sure the pool is great during summer time.
Ted, the owner was a pleasure to work with. He was ready to accommodate us with anything that we might have needed. We forgot a charger when we left, and he was kind enough to mail it to us right away.
We will definitely come back!
EXCELLENT HOUSE AND LOCATION: The house was nice, comfortable, and exactly as described and located close to all activities and the grocery store is only 5 minutes away. The beds were very comfortable and the house is located in a nice quiet area. A couple of people enjoyed the hot tub and the kids loved roasting marshmallows at the fire pit. Ted is very nice and helpful. I hope to visit again in the summer months.
We LOVED the house. The beds were comfortable, the rooms spacious. We had plenty of kitchen items for the whole group. The house may not have a mountain view, but it was NOT missed. Sitting on the huge porch drinking coffee was great. A flock of Turkeys grazed in the early morning, and the quiet, private setting was more relaxing than words can describe. There is a pool at the home, and it looked inviting, even in October. The hot tub was relaxing, and the kids thought it was like a heated play pool. The game area and TV was great for the kids and adults. There is a beautiful sun room with extra dining and living room area. We had a group of church friends over, and there was enough seating for the whole group. There is probably enough comfortable seating for at least 30. The owners were a blessing to work with, and are close by if needed. We even got home made cookies when we arrived. We will definitely be back!!
The place was amazing. Plenty of space to spread out inside and out. The kids and grandkids loved the large yard (hard to find in that area) and the pool (it was used every day and some evenings). You are close enough to go into town if you want to and far enough away to have complete privacy. Everything was well maintained and I hope to come back here again. Thanks for a great vacation.
Gist Creek Lodge was great for relaxation and for seeing the area tourist attractions. Ted and Flo have a great 9+ acre vacation spot away from the bustle of the strip. Nice bedrooms with 3 of them having sets of x-large log bunk beds (one room with 2 sets which included a double under a smaller one.) Great Basement full of a pool, foosball table and a TV set. Several bedrooms have TVs with Direct TV access. The front porch is very inviting with 8 rockers and a porch swing where we met as a family and watch while family played bags, swam in the pool, catch, or a fun game of softball on the large area in the front of house. There is also a great sunroom leading to a back patio where you can BBQ on a large grill or move the bags to play a game along side of a hot tub.
There are so many great attractions around the area--Smoky Mountain National Park (go to a small mountain stream (swim or wad) not far from Cads cove (see bears), Ripley's Aquarium, Lost Sea (cave), and many other attractions including Dollywood (did not make it there). BEST of all it is just nice to stay on the ground secluded from the traffic and enjoy the area. Ted and Flo started us out right with chocolate chip and raisin cookies and our family never let the cookie dish get empty! Ted was very willing to make our vacation wonderful including a fire ring supplied with wood. This is a great place to visit.
Listing is very accurate with pictures of the lodge. Very clean and well kept personally by the owners, Thank you for letting us visit.
Centrally located to so many sites and sounds, it will be hard to choose. Visit Dollywood, The Comedy Barn, Titanic, musical shows, fine dining, home cooked dining. The list is endless. Shopping at the Tanger Mall is an all day event. There are also popular restaurants too, Red Lobster, The Olive Garden, and many many more.
