This quaint clapboard house, dated circa1900, has been renovated, a wonderful blend of old and new. The first floor offers a well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast nook. It opens to the well styled yet relaxing living room. Off the kitchen you will find the mud room that serves as a laundry room with washer/dryer. There are two bedrooms on the second floor. QUAINT COUNTRY / MODERN HOME!!

5 of 5
Submitted: October 10, 2008 Stayed: August 2008
We loved our stay in this lovely home!! Quiet neighborhood, quaint house inside and out. Newly renovated and nicely done. Decorated with a great balance of old and new. Quaint and modern at the same time. House was clean and well equipped. Great little corner food market just down the street. The town of Camden not too far, though we usually rode our bikes or drove. Owner always responded to emails promptly prior to our visit and by telephone during our stay.

Perfect Thanksgiving

5 of 5
Submitted: December 5, 2012 Stayed: November 2012
I have traveled enough to know there are perfect places for particular seasons. So where better for Thanksgiving than a darling New England home in a quaint New England town? You could not beat the time we had. Le Bonheur! My friend had flown in from Paris and we made our way up the coast landing at Dakota’s Respite. The century old house welcomed us with all the warmth of a homecoming increased a few degrees as an intimate romantic getaway. Benefiting from Kimberly’s insight into the region, we navigated the coast like natives. Great location! And for foodies a dream, even for a Parisienne who wrote home about our culinary adventures. Camden and the surrounding area offers a wealth of dining choices in a vibrant farm/sea to table restaurant scene. We were five minutes from everywhere: charming and colorful downtown; Mt Battie with the exquisite view from the summit; Graffam Seafood Market; Megunticook Market just around the corner. All from the comfort of our own cozy home. At least Dakota’s Respite felt like ours…for one blissful week.

quaint cottage

We enjoyed our stay on a quaint warm cottage in a neighborhood very close to the harbor(nice walk on a great cool weather), a block from a specialty food store for great sandwiches and specialty desserts. Not far from the lake and close to do hiking at Mt. Battie. Great location and well maintained home. We hope to spend our next summer vacation again at this house.

My stay at Dakota's Respite

This sweet bungalow is truly a respite from busy daily life. It is beautifully appointed throughout with antiques, but has all the modern conveniences to give one the comforts of home. The washer and dryer were a big plus and I was surprised to find a spa tub upstairs. (It looked so inviting, but I have to admit my adventures in Maine circumvented my using it). The neighborhood is wonderfully quiet and not far from charming downtown Camden. This vacation home was exactly what I had hoped it would be. A special nod to the caretaker, who left fresh flowers on the dining room table to greet me upon my arrival!

Cute place, but not worth the hassle

Stayed as a long term renter and found the neighbors and the area charming, but the management of the home was very frustrating indeed. Many discrepancies over money and in the end we were due a refund that we never received. Very disappointing.
