I found this wonderful cottage by accident. We were looking for something new. Been going up to Catskills since 1979. Same place all the time. Needed a change. Well, this was the place. If you are looking for a place "really" away from everything, this is it. The owners Winnie and Patrick are the nicest people you could ever meet. The cottage is stocked. Everything you can possibly need and more. No phones, no internet. The perfect get away from reality. Its the perfect couples cottage. But you are high up. You are right across from Point Lookout. So be prepared for some fog on rainey days. Close to Windham where you can find a really nice steakhouse and pizzeria. Shopping for food is pretty close in Cairo but we still took the trip down the mountain to Leeds and went to our favorite Price Chopper.
Although you dont see the view from your window, all you have to do is walk down the road to see it. It has this awesome wrap around porch and you are covered by trees. The temp is always cooler than down the mountain and we didnt turn the ac on once. It was wonderful.
I can go on and on but I think I about covered it. We were more than happy with our stay.
Oh, there is also this really old cabinet filled with games and books. Found a book I was meaning to read and enjoyed it on the porch.
Tv is local stations but we brought up a dvd player, was able to connect to tv and rented recent release movies at the price chopper every night.
Ok, i will stop now because i can go on. Didnt get to barbque because of the rain but again with the fully stocked kitchen I never minded cooking dinner.
Hope this review helps you. If you find this place, dont hesitate. You wont be sorry.
A weekend away from the city was exactly what we needed and this is a perfect little spot for such a getaway. Hiking trails are about a 5 minute drive, there are some stunning views just a short walk away, but you don't have to leave at all. This place is quiet and pretty secluded - the highway is close by but mostly pretty quiet. It's just lovely to sit on the porch, drink coffee and enjoy the sounds of nature. Winnie and Patrick are great hosts and the kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans and everything you can think of, and the grocery store is nearby. There are also plenty of books, board games, local TV stations, and a CD/radio/record player. Overall just a lovely stay, we will be back for sure.
We had wonderful two weeks in this lovely cottage. This is a quite place with a gorgous view of the mountains. Winnie and Patrick are exquisit hosts - thank you again for your hospitality! We are definitely planning on coming back one day.
If you are traveling to Windham, there is no need to research further. This is the place to stay for couples or friends retreat. We talked all the way home about the wonderful time we had. Firstly, Winnie & Patrick are wonderful, sweet people, that made us feel more than welcome. Privacy was important to us, and we certainly got that. This cottage is extremely clean, super cozy, stocked with everything you would need. We loved all the mom and pop shops around, antique stores, beautiful mountains. Windham is beyond beautiful. We had a great time & we were talking about a return trip to this cottage before we had even gotten home.
We highly recommend this cottage.
I can't say enough about the cottage. Delightful property very clean and well maintained. All sorts of hiking/walking/activites close by of varying degrees of difficulty depending on your mood. Very secluded so that you really get the feel of being away from it all. Winnie and Patrick were fantastic hosts and are only too happy to offer their advice on the area. In fact...I wish I was back there already...!
This cottage is just perfect. The owners were very friendly and made us feel right at home. The cottage is just a short distance from Windham and hiking at Catskill Park. Saugerties is not too far away either. The grocery store in nearby Cairo had all the ingredients we needed for in-home meals as well. The cottage has a beautiful porch, awesome kitchen, comfortable bed, and so much more. I'm glad we stayed here instead of an impersonal hotel. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a great Catskills experience. I would love to go back!
