Not as it appears
The house was disappointing. When you first see the front of the house, you're disappointed, since the picture posted on "Home Away" is of the back of the house. The front of the house is pictured on VRBO. But the landscaping in the VRBO picture is not there - - it has been replaced with weeds growing around and up through the front steps. The steps are also a hazard - the first step is cracked in half and loose to the point of it being a trip hazard, the top caps on the railing are not secure - when you use them to steady yourself, they fall off in your hand with the rusty nails exposed. The outside of the house is very depressing - the paint is peeling off of 70% of the house!!!
The interior of the house is actually nice for a rental and relatively clean. The pots and pans definately need replaced - the teflon is scratched so bad, it flakes off as you are cooking.
The access to the "private association beach" is a block away, then there is a dirt path between two private homes, and down two half flights of steps. The beach is very narrow and because of the "lake homes" there, you feel as if you are trespassing.
The are no lake views from the house on any of the decks.
There were some issues with appliances not working when we arrived. The refrigerator, upstairs, which at the time was the only refrigerator, was not working. Jason did have it repaired the next day and another refrigerator installed on the lower lever. The dishwasher would not shut off. Jason had a service company look at it - it needed a part that had to be ordered; therefore, it was not repaired during our stay. There was a leak in the ceiling of the front room, which was not addressed during our stay.
Overall: Luxurious is not a word I would use to describe this rental. The house needs a lot of attention. If it had a "Vacation Rental" sign in the front yard with a contact phone number, you would NOT stop and write the number.

Owner's Response: FIrst off, I am truly sorry they had a disappointing stay, This was the first rental of the season at that particular home and some unexpected things did come up. When their refrigerator broke I immediately ordered a brand new one and brought it the next day. When they told me about roof leak, I had a repairman out the next day to fix leak. They must not have been at property when he was there but problem was remedied. We pride ourselves on our service and our homes' cleanliness. We never advertised home as having lake views nor was informed of problems with stairs. I had met the family more than once during their stay to troubleshoot all issues, We represent over 25 properties and the majority of our renters are so happy they rented with us. There will always be exceptions to the rule.
