Rustic and modern
This is a log cabin in the woods with all the necessary modern conveniences: large electric stove, full size oven, large refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, clothes washer and drier, dish TV service, computer hook up, a land line phone (no cell service), AC and a heating system. Both beds are very comfortable and there are plenty of pillows. The cabin seemed clean and clean sheets were on the beds for us to make. Plenty of clean towels, both bath and dish, were provided. We received wonderful directions and had no trouble finding the cabin. We never tried to find it in the dark. The gravel roads are narrow and steep in places. We were very glad that we bought our groceries in Boone before finding the cabin. We had four days of sun and two of rain with fog so thick we could not see the house across the street. Every day was special. On the sunny days we explored Mt. Jefferson, Grandfather Mountain, Moses Cone Memorial Park, took driving tours through Valle Crucis and Sugar Grove (found a Farm Festival), and spent time enjoying the Blue Ridge. Parkway. The best part was returning to the cabin and just relaxing on the wonderful deck while absorbing the view. On the rainy days we enjoyed being lazy, reading and doing jigsaw puzzles. One rainy day we did go to Glendale Springs to see the Ben Long fresco. He has more frescoes in West Jefferson and they are impressive. The cabin is comfortable for as many who are comfortable in the two beds. Access to the bathroom is through the downstairs bedroom. The loft area is very cozy but not particularly private. It would be fine for elementary age children but there could be a safety issue with younger ones. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who enjoys being in the woods while having the comforts of home.

Owner's Response: It is true that not all cell phones have excellent reception in the mountains. Yes our roads are narrow and, to some people, may seem a little steep and you need to know that the roads are owned and maintained by the owners and we discourage unnecessary traffic. However, the roads are well maintained and four-wheel drive is not necessary to reach any of the properties in our development. Many of our renters prefer the loft over the downstairs bedroom, and you are correct in pointing out that lofts may present problems for small children. I appreciate your very accurate description of the many offerings of our cabin. My wife and I take great pride in making everyone's visit an enjoyable and memorable experience.
