My second stay at Casa Ingelsa was at least as good if not better than the first one a year ago. The property and grounds are still beautiful, secure, and well maintained, and the apartment itself even had a few upgrades like TV and wireless. But the real reason to go is the comfort, peace, and quiet--and the helpfulness offered by the owners and management to ensure you have a great visit. Not to mention the gorgeous surroundings and nearby beach! There's so much to do in Cozumel, and Casa Inglesa is a great home-away-from-home from which to launch your adventures. I'd recommend it to anyone.
My wife and I stayed at "Casa Inglesa" for about 11 weeks this past winter while I rehabilitated a "new knee" and my wife took a sabbatical from work. From the very beginning working with the owner was a complete pleasure. She answered all of our many questions, offered friendly advice, insights and always acted in honest, forthright and responsible manner with unbelievable response time. Her on site managers were also wonderful and helped us through some situations that were over and above our limited Spanish resources.
The unit and indeed the entire small complex of about 12 variably sized condominium apartments was extremely clean and well maintained. The bedroom, bath, and storage spaces were all beautiful and decently sized and while the kitchen and living area were not huge they were quite nice and were more than adequate for two persons even for our extended stay of almost three months. About the only thing that I can think of that might have improved our particular living situation would have been a small microwave (especially for reheating the exquisite pizza from Guido's).
The location of the complex on the north (read quiet) end of the island was perfect for us. We bought two bicycles which were our main form of transportation to town and to north side snorkeling and beach spots. Riding or walking the north end is a joy as there is a wide and well maintained bike/pedestrian path that puts to shame most of the paths I have seen in the U.S. When we needed the added capacity of an auto for major grocery runs, etc., taxis were always available a few hundred yards away at the Melia Hotel, so we ended up renting a car for only two days to explore the east side of the island.
Cozumel is a special Island and Casa Inglesa and Hacienda MonteCristo were, for us at least, a special place from which to enjoy the island.
We stayed for 10 days in Cozumel during our dive trip through Yucatan. It took us quite a while to find this little gem–fair price for a modern and clean condo in a quiet area. We easily felt at home in the condo because it is roomy, comfortable and relaxing. It looks even better up-close than the pictures in their website! Hacienda Monte Cristo (the name of the residential area) is close to the main road, so, it was easy to drive through town all the way to Caleta pier where we had to meet our dive masters everyday for our dive trips. We didn't mind driving 25 mintues from the condo to the pier, because we enjoyed the scenes from our VW convertible rental car! Since the Island of Cozumel is small, we even had a chance to go around to take pictures after a tiring dive day. Working as professional photographers, we were pleased to have a wifi in the condo for our work, sorting and uploading pictures in the evening.
Casa Inglesa is the first unit to see inside the Hacienda Monte Cristo. It is located in the ground floor, only few meters away from the small parking lot. There is a communal wash area right in front which is perfect to rinse and hang the dive gears!
The condo has all the basic things for cooking, eating, sleeping and bathing which are suitable for our needs–from pots, pans, oven, utensils to extra beddings and towels. It was too homey that we actually went out only once for a dinner to experience a rare taste of the special Lionfish cuisine in La Perlita Restaurant.
One of the very big factors why we chose this place was the accommodating email conversation with Maria, the owner. She gave us a lot of helpful tips for our stay. Also, Paco and Blanca, the couple who supervises the apartment for Maria, are very warm and helpful. The day when we arrived on the island, they picked us up from the main pier and drove us to the shopping mall to get some food and supplies for the next day!
We can recommend this place to everyone that is looking for a quiet, clean, modern and cozy place to stay in Cozumel!
Happy Couple from Germany
We really enjoyed our time at Casa Inglesa. The place was cozy (not small at all) and had all the amenities we needed including bottled water. Paco and Blanco (residence hosts) were great. They responded to all our needs and gave us excellant recommendations on local inexpensive dining. I would recommend having a car as the better beaches for snorkeling and swimming are south of San Miguel.
We had a wonderful and memorable experience staying in this apartment. The listing description was very accurate. The condo was immaculate. The property was gorgeous and excellently maintained. The owner, Maria, provided excellent customer service. The property managers, Paco and Blanca went over and above many many times to make our stay the special one that it was.
We enjoyed horseback riding on the beach, that essentially only had us on it. We went to many restaurants on the island and were never disappointed. Our favourite ones were Casa Corazon, La Candela, Buccano's at Night and Kondesa, although all the restaurants were great.
We had a great snorkelling trip with Paco and Blanca who own Blue Project.
We walked into town frequently along a beautiful sidewalk that went all the way.
We walked along the beach to the pier and sat and fed the fish. I took pictures of them from the pier and they turned out surprisingly well.
The golf course across the road also provided a beautiful walk into the restaurant. It's an Audubon designated site so there are lots of good birds along the way.
We would definitely recommend this apt condo!
We love Cozumel and Casa Inglesa is a great way to spend your time there! The ground floor was perfect for us, just steps away from the pool. The condo is cozy and romantic, with everything you need. Just a short ten minute drive to town for the nightlife and restaurants. The grounds were beautiful, and staff there were friendly. The owners are awesome to work with and the property manager lives nearby, so if we needed anything they were there to help!
The Monte Cristo is a beautiful complex, and the beach (one minute walk away) was very private. We spent hours walking the beaches swimming, often with no one around but us.
I would definitely return to Casa Inglesa, and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a romantic secluded stay in Cozumel.
Divers paradise on Cozumel island, Mexican Caribbean, not far from Cancun. Relax, snorkel, dive or take a romantic walk on the beautiful beaches and watch the sunset, or watch the dolphins swimming past. Enjoy a game of golf, or go horseriding. Mingle with the friendliest people you could wish to meet, and enjoy the family fiestas on Sunday evenings. The Casa Inglesa has all this and more to offer. Feel the sand between your toes and relax in your own home from home in the sun!
